The Infiniti Q50 effectively replaces the Infiniti's popular G series entry-level luxury sport sedan. And just like the G, the Q50 offers an appealing combination of luxury, performance and value wrapped up in handsome styling.

Although the luxury sport sedan segment has historically been dominated by elite German nameplates, the Infiniti Q50 holds its own against these typically pricier models. It also comes with the latest high-tech features, and there's an available hybrid model as well.

Current Infiniti Q50 Specs
The Infiniti Q50 entry-level luxury sport sedan debuted for the 2014 model year. It's powered by either a 3.7-liter V6 with 328 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque or, in the case of the hybrid version, a 3.5-liter V6 and a 50-kilowatt electric motor, which provide a total output of 354 hp. All Q50s come with a seven-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive is standard. All-wheel drive is optional. The regular Q50 comes in base, Premium and Sport trim levels, while the Q50 Hybrid comes only in the upper two trims.

Standard feature highlights on the base trim include keyless ignition/entry, dual-zone automatic climate control and eight-way power front seats. Also included are an electronics interface with twin touchscreen displays, smartphone app integration, Bluetooth phone/audio connectivity, a rearview camera and a six-speaker sound system.

Premium trims also feature a sunroof, heated front seats, leather upholstery (on the hybrid only), a 14-speaker Bose sound system and a multimedia monitor/display, while the Sport adds a sport-tuned suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels with summer performance tires, leather seating (for non-hybrid Q50 sedans), a sport driver seat and paddle shifters. The hybrid also includes Infiniti's Direct Adaptive Steering (which offers four different steering responsiveness settings) and a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Option highlights include a navigation system, a 360-degree camera parking system, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat and various safety features such as blind-spot warning and front and rear collision warning.

On the move, the Q50 has been somewhat of a disappointment for us. While acceleration is strong, ultimate handling ability on non-Sport trims is hobbled by all-season tires that don't offer the grip we'd expect from this otherwise athletic sedan. Ride quality is similarly mixed. Although the Q50 ably damps out larger bumps and ruts, it gets fidgety on roads with minor imperfections.

Beyond these issues, however, the Infiniti Q50 stands strong thanks to its well-trimmed and comfortable cabin, roomy trunk, user-friendly high-tech features and the impressive fuel economy of the hybrid model. It's worth a good look if you're shopping for a sport-oriented entry-level luxury sedan.

  • European design with Japanese reliability - 2016 Infiniti Q50

    It has the latest technology. The Bose surround system is top notch and just blows you away. The steering is tight and responsive. Its fast and still great on gas. It is fun to drive especially in sport mode. Leatherette takes some getting use to but so far so good. Every time I get in it to drive it I am literally thrilled. Have owned several BMWs, traded my Lexus ES330 in on this, have owned Hondas, Toyotas, and VW. My Lexus rode smooth. My BMWs were always so aesthetically pleasing but this Infiniti just feels like a Smart car. Something that an educated well informed person who has done due diligence would purchase. I just feel like I made a smart decision in buying it. No buyers remorse at all. The engine is designed by Mercedes and assembled by Nissan. Im a large guy like 300 lb.s and no complaints. My friend was riding in the backseat and made the comment it felt like sitting in his recliner at the house. So as you can read, Im really enjoying the car thus far. Mine is the liquid platinum (silver) with black interior. Best color combo to me.

  • Incredibly fun to drive - 2015 Infiniti Q50

    I have owned my new Q50 for a couple of months now and Im certainly glad I made the purchase. It is incredibly fun to drive and actually wished I had a longer commute to work. Although a little jerky around town because of the 330 horses that push it along, the highway ride is a treat. It looks awesome in and out, however the most impressive attribute is the alertness of the engine and the comfort that is next to none. I would strongly suggest checking this car out and place it above the Mercedes C and the Bemmer 3 series.

    I have owned this car for almost a year. Outstanding power, 15MPG city (NYC), 25 highway. Ride can be a little rough at times. Nice interior and outstanding BOSE sound system. Seat comfort and room is fine (61").

  • Q50 experience-15 months later - 2014 Infiniti Q50

    I leased a Q50S AWD Hybrid in Nov 2013. The first couple of months I had problems with the Infiniti Connection technology that even the dealership couldnt figure out how to fix. Since then it has been a very pleasant experience. The recent addition of the inTouch apps is nice. The handling and cornering is the same if not better than BMW 335. In Sport mode the acceleration is awesome and the paddle shifters are very responsive. When accelerating from low speed in standard or eco mode the transmission appears confused which gear to shift to first and sometimes fails to respond properly to the drivers foot on the gas pedal.

    I bought the Q50 hybrid last year. I have only 5000 miles after one year. last month, I rode the car to go to a medical appointment. I was at 60mph when the car started to go on the right by itself and started to brake multiple times creating a bumpy ride. it was a nightmare. I called the dealer and brought the car there. They called the next monday to tell me that they uploaded the new version of the software and it was fixed....I am scared now no matter what. New Update Dec 2nd 2016: althought I had a ghost in my car, it is now fixed by the magic of the reprogramming. The car is nice, good handling, good performance and especially good gas consumption (26~27mpg on the road, 32mpg in the highway). new update June 2017: no more issue. good car with good acceleration and great comfort.

  • Surprised how much I like it. - 2015 Infiniti Q50

    My wifes Lexus IS250AWD just came to end of lease and in shopping around we stumbled almost by accident into the Infiniti dealer. After talking about the different models we test drove the Q50 and QX50. Very surprised by the Q50 3.7L. I wasnt expecting such a throaty warble from the engine, tight, direct steering and well equipped interior for the price. We have had it only about a month but, very nice.

  • Not Bad - 2014 Infiniti Q50

    I had a 2012 G37S, so this is a direct comparison. The Q50 isnt bad but its a more refined and watered down G. The build is more solid with tighter fitting exterior joints and more solid interior. My G would creak and pop over any imperfection, this is much more solid of a car with a stiffer structure. The steering is not like the G AT ALL! New steer by wire is HORRIBLE! I have the elect assist and it has more feel but on center isnt great and too light. The car is quieter, but could be better. The run flat tires are prob the culprit. The gas mileage is pretty good, avg 30.9 on 600 mile trip at 65-75 mph. The infotainment system is half baked and needs major work.

    I got my q50s awd early of September. First of all, cars performance is the best within this price range. In terms of accerelation, braking, and handling, they are good enough to be called "Japanese BMW". I also own 2015 Acura TLX with SH-AWD and compare it to Q50s, TLX has much better comfort ride quality. Q50Ss noise is quite noticeable and legroom, head room and back seats are not big enough as TLX. There is a lot of controversy on Direct Adaptive Steering system and to be honest, most of drivers would not even notice and it also offers precise and quick handling. Please do not mind about this system. However, the fact that you have to get all the way to tech package (you have to get another two packages in order to get this) in order to get simple safety features such as blind spot monitoring system is quite annoying and its back up camera seems to fuzzy specially during the night (my 2014 honda civic ex has much better quality). However, this car still has a lot of standard features that are usually optional in some of other competitors. Q50S suppose to be sport car and I think Infiniti has done a great job with that. If you want comfort, smooth and easy riding, this car isnt great for you. Q50s is really for driving enthusiast who drives a lot to be afraid of owning BMW. BTW, if you are going to get Q50, make sure to get "S". its worth the price ! 19inch wheel, 4piston caliper, special front bumpers and sport front seats that also have manual thigh support!
