This Year's Model Updates:

The G35 is Infiniti's new entry-level luxury sport sedan. Aimed at buyers who would otherwise choose an Audi A4, BMW 3 Series or Lexus IS 300, the G35 offers impressive performance and comfort for a price that's less than most of the competition's.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6, balanced and capable handling, roomy cabin, reasonable price.
Cons:
  • No manual transmission available yet for the sedan, average interior material quality.

  • Great car with a couple of exceptions - 2003 Infiniti G35

While this car is not as silky handling or timeless looking as my 98 BMW 540, its still a great car for the money. Some problems: It seems like the mileage sucks once I turn on the A/C getting like 19 mpg on highway. Second the interior parts were not fitted well as there is rattling noise coming from the doors and backseat when I turn the stereo on even moderate levels. Third, the integrated six CD changer is totally retarded-- it is slow... and it doesnt look like itll be easy to swap out with an aftermarket. Fourth, the analog clock is totally useless... I could go blind trying to make out the time with the dim backlight. Otherwise I love the car.

I so desperately want to LOVE my new G35 but it seems that everytime I get close to falling for it, something goes wrong. The 1st problem occurred within the first 2 weeks. The radio wouldnt turn off, even when the engine was off. It took the dealer a week to fix that problem. Now, Im experiencing problems with my air conditioner...it only works on 60 degrees. If I move it up by 1 degree, the heater comes on. It doesnt help that the service people at the dealer keep telling me its new model, so problems can be expected. Of course, when extolling the benefits of the car before I purchased it, this information was conveniently omitted.

Bought the car last April, love the look, handling and power. Have had one concern that has brought be back to the deal several times. If the car sits for a period of time and I back up and then place the car in drive I hear an annoying clunk. Ive never heard this sound on any other cars Ive owned. Deal says it the calipers adjusting. Has anyone else experianced this?

This car is fast and fun to drive. Very responsive and interesting. Much more nimble than a Acura TL type S. Not your dime a dozen on the road Maxima. Not the greatest on gas, 21mpg city/higway but maybe that will improve. Great interior space for the size of the car. Corners mean nothing to this car - no exaggeration.

  • Fun to drive - Expensive to own - 2003 Infiniti G35

This car is a lot of fun to drive. It begs to be turned loose on winding roads. Unfortunately, the reliability is horrible. Since I purchased it, I have had the drivers seat mount break (it would move all over the place while driving - a little too exciting), brakes replaced at 34,000 miles, and a complete clutch / flywheel replacement at 59,000. The first two were covered by the warranty. The service guy even suggested I push the brakes hard to be sure they were worn enough before I ran out of warranty. The clutch on the other hand is not covered by the drivetrain warranty and it was over $1,800 out of pocket. If you buy this car, be ready to come out-of-pocket deep and often.

I have been driving the G35 coupe for the last week. It is th most exhilerating, comfortable ride I have had in years. The interior setup is superior to the Boxster, the roominess superior to the 350Z and the quality of the interior appointments is superior to the BMW. The handling is tight and superior to all of the above, with maybe the exception of the Z; I cant wait to get it onto a curvey mountain road. As for the price, I cant imagine I could have gotten a better vehicle. I am anticipating years of enjoyment; I have owned a J30 for 9 years and it has been the most reliable car I have ever owned.

  • Not Quite the Deal We Thought It Was - 2003 Infiniti G35

Only a good car at a good price. I traded in my 2001 BMW 325i for this car because of the quality issues with that car. This car isnt a lot better. Ive been in the shop three times for squeaks and rattles which still havent been completely fixed. Also notice that the trunk lid has been changed (in the same model year!) for G35 Sedans produced after October. So all of us that bought beforehand...weve now got a unique car. Sometimes its cool, but this time its NOT COOL!
