This Year's Model Updates:

The sedan receives exterior styling revisions with a new hood, grille, bumpers, side sills, taillights and wheels. Sedans now make as much power as the coupes -- 280 hp (up from 260) and 270 lb-ft of torque (also up from 260) on models with an automatic transmission. Coupes and sedans equipped with a manual transmission get even more power (298 hp) but sacrifice 10 lb-ft of torque. Sedans with the sport suspension package also pick up 18-inch wheels and drilled aluminum pedals. All G35s get a redesigned instrument panel and console area with aluminum or wood trim, and the manual transmission has been improved to provide a lower shifting effort. A Sport version of the coupe debuts this year and includes an even firmer suspension, a limited-slip differential, 19-inch forged alloy wheels and drilled aluminum pedals. Oddly, though, Brembo brakes are no longer available on manual-shift coupes.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6, balanced and capable handling, roomy cabin, reasonable price.
Cons:
  • Average interior materials quality, touchy brakes.

This is a great car. It handles well (sport-tuned suspension) although it is a little harsh. It looks great, and its styling is slightly understated - no sculpting along the sides.

The G25x is the best performing car Ive ever owned with cars like Trans Am, Dodge Daytona and Grand Prix GTPs included. It zips to 100 like nothing and stops on a dime. Going around clover leafs with 25 mph speed limits can easily be doubled to 50. And when it gets wet by rain or snow its hard to even get the wheels to spin with hard acceleration. Best car purchase I ever made.

Had my G35 for 3 years - overall an awesome car. Very sporty, fun to drive, great power. Very reliable, never needed repairs - just usual maintenance stuff. I live in MN and got a set of winter tires and changed them out each season. It handled relatively well for RWD - never slid off the road or got stuck. Getting 20-21 mpg mixed city/hwy. Needs premium fuel, but have been using mid-grade stuff due to cost w/o problems. Will be gettting a different vehicle now that my lease is up only because I have 2 dogs that love to travel with me and need more room - otherwise would probably trade up to newer model if issues listed below have been improved.

Great acceleration, excellent trans - best auto-manual Ive tried, sweet handling. It makes my long commute very comfortable. Ive read complaints about poor gas mileage, but Im getting 24 mpg in mixed city/hwy after only 2k miles (usually mpg goes up a bit after break in). Also seen complaints about touchy brakes, mine are sensitive but I quickly adjusted. Excellent value for the $!

  • Best Car EVER! - 2005 Infiniti G35

This car has been a dream to own. It is perhaps THE best car on the road in terms of reliability, styling, sexiness, muscle, and pure fun. I got mine in black with black leather, and I feel like a rock star every time I get behind the wheel. My manual 6-speed transmission G accelerates so fast I almost have to hold on to the steering wheel! Ive taken her up to 120+ mph on the open road, and she just purrs. The one and only drawback to the G is the high performance tires: they are pricey! Other than that, I have zero complaints. Nothing has ever gone wrong (even a little) and it is just a joy to drive. I love the car and I would swear she loves me back.

  • absolute fun - 2005 Infiniti G35

The car is a big improvement over the younger brother the Nissan Maxima because of the going back to the basics and that to me is rear wheel drive the power is put down with ease translating to a much easier to control power band. There is hesitation when pushed hard it only begs for more. For the price i couldnt ask for more there are many other vehicles in the same peoce range but none have the same power and luxury.

  • "Whats not to love" - 2005 Infiniti G35

If youre looking for the best "Sports Sedan" under $35K, its the G35X. Thats right, get every option except the navigation and youre looking at a great deal. An intelligent all wheel drive system, comfortable interior, power galore, excellent handling, what more could you want. Youd have to spend $10K-$15K more to get the same options in a BMW. The G35X has 280HP,put your foot down and this thing moves. It feels safe, tight handling, great breaking, throaty growl notes from the exaust screams sports car! Interior is roomy & comfortable, the rear seats recline! I read some negative reviews about the interior, calling it cheap. Have you seen the cup holders on the BMW? Judge for yourself.

I love everything about my car but one thing. I gave it a score of "4" on Build Quality only because the car is too low. This is not my first sports car so I know they come low to the ground but on the Coupe you can actually go over a simple can or small rock in the road and it will scrape the undercarriage and make it sound likes its tearing it up. You also have to be extremely careful of potholes too..and I mean small ones.

  • Dont waste your time looking at others - 2005 Infiniti G35

Driving anything else in the class is a waste of time !!! This car out performs BMW, Lexus, Audi, Acura, MB & others. I drove them all before buying this. Regardless of price this IS the car. Its quick, Fun and I dont see a problem with the gas mileage as I hear from others. You expect this when you buy a car in this class.

In late 2003 I leased a G35 coupe, drove the car for about 15k miles and had a ball with it. Keep in mind I have owned many cars including 2 corvettes. In late 2004 I heard about the redesign of the 05 coupe. As soon as the car hit the street I went to a dealer and looked it over. Very impressed with the 19 inch rims and the new dash. I was pleased to find the new functions such as the power telescopic and tilt steering wheel, new dash display and the fact that Infiniti removed some of the stainless steel from the center console as it was easily scratched often. The salesman insisted I take it for a ride and I couldnt believe the difference in the suspension and transmission.
