I purchased this vehicle at the same time the new 2002 Maximas were introduced. I was torn between the two, but finances prevailed, and I purchased the Hyundai. It had most of the options the Maxima had, except for the horsepower. The Maxima boasted 255 HP and the Hyundai 190. The Hyundai definitely feels sluggish and since the first day I owned it, I kept telling everyone it didnt even feel like 190 HP. It turns out that Hyundai lied on its vehicles specs and didnt inform owners until the fall of 2002. The car doesnt have 190 HP but 180 and believe it or not, this makes a difference. I am joining a class action lawsuit as a result.

  • Love my XG - 2001 Hyundai XG300

I had never even seen one of these until I saw the ad for mine online. My car had broken and instead of repairing it, I purchased this one at $5,800 which given the condition of the vehicle I thought was more than fair. I love the way it looks on the outside. The front grill looks like it was designed by Lincoln, and the rear reminds me a little of the acura 2.1 CL or even a jag! The interior makes you feel like youre riding in luxury as well. I had the same problem with the trans. sensor but was a quick fix. Other than that I am satisfyed with the XG. For my money it doesnt get much better. Now that I have it I find myslef noticing how great other hyundais are! Those guys make nice cars!

  • We will be getting another - 2001 Hyundai XG300

The car has been virtually flawless. Smooth, quiet, fun to drive. We change the oil and purchased new tires. That has been the extent of our expenses.

The car is mostly great. As far as reliability, I have no complaints. However, it could use more horses and less fuel usage. I had to return to dealerships to have few plastic pieces replaced. Initially, the front passenger side headrest was not stiched properly and was replaced. Overall minor quality control problems, but engine and transmission has proven to be reliable. I just had 30k major service, which was a shocker since the service fee varied from $300 w/ coupon to $850 in various dealerships. Still, I do enjoy the ride in my car. PS: My Michellin OEM tire wore out at 29500 miles and needed replacing.

  • 38,000 Miles! - 2001 Hyundai XG300

As you can tell from the title, I do a great deal of driving. The XG300 has been very reliable and is a great highway car. Gas mileage averages 28mpg with good overall performance. The car has been back to the dealer once for a "check engine" light which turned out to be a minor repair.

  • Good Buy - 2001 Hyundai XG300

The only problems I experienced with the car were caused by dealer service. Other than that, its been one of the best cars Ive owned - and my first "luxury" car. Ive since also added a Santa Fe to my "fleet". The XG300 is comfortable to ride in and to drive. Id recommend it to anyone who wants luxury without the price of a Lexus or problems of a Cadillac.

  • A comfortable lemon. - 2001 Hyundai XG300

I like driving the car. Its comfortable, big, once I put some firmer shocks on, it handles respectably. It fits my family and the interior quality seems nice. Other than that, I have nothing good to say about this car. In the 8 months I have owned it I have replaced an alternator, all four shocks, a master airflow sensor. For a car that has 70k miles, this thing is falling apart. I would just consider this a fluke but other owners are reporting the same problems. The shudder going in and out of 4th gear (when gradually accelerating), the alternator, check engine lights. Every replacement part on this car is extremely expensive.

  • They built a beauty! - 2001 Hyundai XG300

XG300 by Hyundai. Sharp design, five speed tranny, posi-traction front wheel drive, great radio, heated rear view mirrors, good mileage, great paint job all add up to a car that was ahead of its time for Hyundai. Not too many built but most are still on the road. No trouble with mine. Worth every penny and then some.
