Model Overview:

A compact crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson is aimed at buyers seeking the tall ride height and cargo convenience of a utility vehicle in a small, affordable package. Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Tucson has always offered a generous list of standard equipment and a lengthy warranty.

Although early versions of this Hyundai crossover have a decidedly budget feel, 2010 and later Tucsons have distinctive exterior styling and a slick interior to match. Acceleration and handling are also much better on the newer models, and fuel economy is significantly improved. Recent Tucson models are worth consideration if you're shopping for a used small crossover.

  • Quality if you can get over the name - 2010 Hyundai TUCSON

Getting over the Hyundai name was my biggest hurdle. In the past the design was so bulgy and bloated. It is obvious they out sourced the design of this car. It is so clean! The lines are smooth and strong, the fit and finish are the best in the business. The driving experience is fantastic. Not as plush as our Lexus RX 330, but I feel for the price, it is the best value by far.

  • Hyundai Believer Now! - 2010 Hyundai TUCSON

I wanted to post a quick review of how this car handles in the mountains. My wife and I recently purchased this vehicle in Denver and drove it up to our home in the Vail area. That is an elevation gain of over 5,000 ft so there are plenty of hills! The Tucson handled the hills amazingly. We have owned several 4 cylinder Subarus and the Tucson is so much faster on the hills and the transmission is flawless. I was skeptical about hyundai, but I am now a believer. The car is so stylish and so well appointed that I dont know how you could consider any other vehicle in this price range. It also has a lot more room than you would expect looking at it from the outside. Amazing car!

  • Disappointed - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

Purchased the vehicle two months ago and have put on 10K miles. We are disappointed greatly in the advertised mpg, should avg 26, we currently get under 20 100% highway which is a decrease from mpg at 5K. We also recently test drove a 4 cyl Mazda 3 and found that it had more pick up and smoother transmission than the Tucson. For others comparing SUVs to this vehicle, you may prefer this to a larger SUV, but overall I am disappointed in the engine performance and handling. Does have some nice interior features and shorter length is good for parking in crowded lots. Based on other feedback and reviews, I believe there is an inconsistency in the manufacturing of this vehicle.

  • Just needs minor changes - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON

Bought this new in 2006 for our daughter because of the size and safety. After a year, she wanted a smaller vehicle and so we bought her a new Tiburon and my wife inherited the Tucson. She absolutely loves it with the exception of some minor design flaws (see below).

  • A Gem Value SUV - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

I spent the entire fall of 2004 researching vehicles and came across this one on the list of 2005 SUVs. I went to the dealership to see this vehicle 3 times before I finally bought it. It was love at first sight and everyday after that. Hyundai has come a long way and this GEM gets the award for the best value SUV. If you are considering buying a compact SUV thats loaded with extras, THIS IS THE ONE! GO FOR IT!

  • 6 month owner - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I have owned for 6 months, and have been very happy with it so far. After extensive comparisons and test driving, I chose it over vehicles like RAV4, CR- V, Liberty, etc. Why? Value for the price, comfort for driver & passenger, automatic with manual control, 4WD lock. My complaints so far are few: The console between the front seats is too low to function well as an arm rest, and needs to be about 2" higher (Im average height). I would like an inch or 2 more clearance. The automatic transmission is not as smooth as I would hope. And gas mileage is not stellar for the vehicles size. That said, Im extremely happy with the Tucson and would easily recommend it to others.

This S U V is great on gas!!! We traded a Toyota FourRunner for a Tucson and we are delighted to save so much money on gas.I also se it necessary to mention the nice ride the Tucson provides.I never thought I would own a Hyundai but i am pleased to say that this Tucson is the best all round purchase my mother and i have ever made.Where in the world are you going to find a 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty?!?!?! I rate everything about this SUV a 9.5 .

  • The Best small SUV - 2010 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

This is one of the best vehicle that I have ever driven. It has a quick response and a great fuel mileage. The design is very artistic. Plenty of room inside. I like the manual transmission mode combined with the traditional auto shift. My salesperson was excellent and I would buy this crossover again. The interior is of a luxury kind since I bought the gls extra pkg. Have on fear this vehicle has it over the Mmurano or the Toyota kind.
