Model Overview:

A compact crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson is aimed at buyers seeking the tall ride height and cargo convenience of a utility vehicle in a small, affordable package. Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Tucson has always offered a generous list of standard equipment and a lengthy warranty.

Although early versions of this Hyundai crossover have a decidedly budget feel, 2010 and later Tucsons have distinctive exterior styling and a slick interior to match. Acceleration and handling are also much better on the newer models, and fuel economy is significantly improved. Recent Tucson models are worth consideration if you're shopping for a used small crossover.

  • Great ride - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I purchased a 4 cylinder 2 liter automatic. It has a very comfortable ride like a car, smooth not bumpy. A lot of interior space. It is just me in it most of the time but I dont have to rely on asking someone to pick up large items for me. Once youve had an SUV, it would be very hard to go back to a car. This is perfect size.

Its a very well put together truck. The designers did a great job with the new 170 hp engine very fuel efficient! The navigation system is touch screen and it also has a back up camera with grid to show if you are too close. I own a 2010 Veracruz and am very impressed with this 2010 Tuscon that I borrow it on a regular basis from my wife(its her car). I have owned many Hyundais with very few dealer issues. After all in the beginning Mitsubishi was Hyundais engine and transmission suppler with many problems ans now Hyundai makes all there own cars with very few problems. I have owned 10 Hyundais and this is the best one ever!

  • The Tucson is a great buy, but its not perfect. - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

Im not going to go into detail about the Tucson because there are a ton of reviews both written and video via YouTube that you can reference. In the past, Ive owned primarily sporty cars so my driving experience is measured against driving those types of vehicles. This is my first CUV and I purchased it because I recently moved to Denver and I needed something to navigate the inclement weather. Overall impressions are that I am very satisfied with my purchase. The ride is comfortable and the handling and acceleration are better than I expected. I really like the perforated cooled seats. I gave a ride to some friends and they were impressed by the leather interior and the panoramic sunroof. The vehicle feels more expensive than it is. In short, you get a lot of value for the purchase price. I havent driven it in the snow, but Im confident the AWD with differential lock will perform well. These are the issues I have with the vehicle. First, the media player doesnt decode mp4 audio tracks. M4A was generally intended as the successor to MP3, which had not been originally designed for audio. This means you have to convert an MP4 files to MP3s, which can be time consuming depending on how many you have in your collection. My second issue is the power lift gate. Its slow and if you deactivate the power lift gate option and choose to open and close it manually, you cant open the lift gate from inside the vehicle. Also, Ive locked the vehicle as I was walking away from the vehicle while the lift gate was descending and it stopped midway. It only happened once, but I feel I have to watch it just to make sure it closes. Finally, the Limited trim comes with push button ignition but there isn’t an option to start the vehicle if the battery in the proximity key dies. Other vehicles Ive driven that have push button ignition have a slot to insert the key and start the engine with the key manually. This seems like a huge oversight, but I’m assuming there’s a warning if the battery in the proximity key is low, but Im planning on keeping a spare battery in the glove box as a precaution.

Purchased nearly 3 mos. ago, my wife primarily drives it but we switch off. I think it is fun to drive & has a better ride than expected. More head room than our 2004 Sonata which is also very nice car.

  • Extremely Disappointed - 2011 Hyundai TUCSON

Bought this vehicle new in May, 2011. Manifold was replaced at 5,000 miles, between 5K and 13K it had to be replaced 2 other times. Radio system had to be replaced; brake switch had to be replaced. Yesterday the vehicle was towed to the dealer as the transmission switch was defective. I was stranded on the road when the transmission switch broke; I understand vehicles have a break-in period; however, I believe this is out of the ordinary. I contacted Hyundai and was told that the dealer will repair all mechanical problems. Not the answer I was expecting.

  • Best value for the money - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON

I had previous cars and this one beats them all. I mainly purchased this vehicle for safety reasons (air bags) and the warranty coverage. To top it off Hyundai recalls are almost nil and none for Tucsons. I used to believe in American cars but my last one had five recalls in two years and they were all safety related (Ford)! And one prior also had multiple recalls (Pontiac). I just got tired of going back to the dealer and waste my time on things that were supposed to be done right the first time. Japanese recalls are on the rise. Hyundai quality has really improved and since money is tight these days, I cant afford to spend it frivilously. It is the best bang for the buck.

  • Best Vehicle I ever owned - 2010 Hyundai TUCSON

  • Love it, love it, love it! - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON

Ive only had this SUV a few months but I find that it is the perfect fit for me. I wanted something with more cargo room than my previous car but didnt want to be driving a ship. The Tucson fits the bill. It has a ton of cargo room when needed as all of the seats except for the drivers fold completely flat. This is done easily, too. It handles well and has a very tight turning radius. The sound system is excellent and the back seat is comfortable.

  • Finding excuses just to drive somewhere - 2010 Hyundai TUCSON

I am loving my new Tucson! Ive been finding reasons to go out just so I can drive it (i.e. more coffee runs, sightseeing). Its very zippy and I am super comfortable driving it. Ive seen some people mention in other reviews & articles the tightness of steering is hard to get used to or seems rigid. I got used to it really fast. I think it handles great. The steering is sensitive, but I find I dont have to turn the wheel as much to make a turn, change lanes, etc. My friend came over and walked right past my car. She said "Oh, I thought for sure that wasnt your new car. It looks like a luxury SUV." She didnt believe it was a Hyundai. I was all smiles.

  • Best car I have ever bought - 2011 Hyundai TUCSON

This car was exactly what I was looking for. It is great on gas, I am averaging 28 to 35 miles to the gallon (you have to buy medium grade and from a good gas station...yes the quality of the fuel does make a tremendous difference on gas averaging). It has just enough space. Not too big or to small. It has good pick up. It is super safe...with 8 air bags. GET THE GLS OR LIMITED and definitely get the NAVI. It is totally worth it. Talkiing on the phone hands free is totally worth it plus the navigation is awesome. It is so easy to use. I love this car. My only regret is not getting the limited. DO NOT get the GL. Spend a few extra bucks and really enjoy the ride!!!!
