  • have loved this car, but have fallen out of love - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

mostly i am enjoying this vehicle. but the front seat has become more and more uncomfortable. specifically the headrest. it makes not sense to me that it needs to be jutting out so far as to push my head and neck out of alignment. i tried a cushion, but nope. 2 weeks ago i found out i have 2 ruptured discs in my neck after 2 weeks or so of neck pain. now im in physical therapy to treat this problem, which involves proper alignment of my shoulders and neck. this headrest is messing with all of it and there is no way for me to get comfortable or sit correctly in this seat with this headrest in place. did the headrest contribute to my neck problem. i cant say it didnt. had i known all this, i would not have bought this vehicle. i am 51.5" and very petit, so my this may be conflicting with the design of this seat. but no matter what my height and build, i should still be able to get a comfortable position.

  • Unsafe and terrible customer service - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

Ive been leasing this car for about 2 months and the brand new car shut off on me randomly twice! First time it shut off I had to pick my toddler up from daycare that is 40 min away and they told me they will come in about an hour and half to tow my car and they will not give me a loaner or anything g to replace the vehicle while being looked at while my toddlers school closed and they are waiting for me to grab him I kept trying to start the car in a panic and 2 hours later befornethentow trick got to me the car started and I rushed to get him. The next day took the car to get looked at at Paramus Hyundai service center and spent the whole day there with my baby for them to tell me my car is fine and told me I gotta go that they are closing, meanwhile I tell them I do not feel safe driving with my baby in a car that shuts off with no warnings in middle of the road and I want a loaner and this car looked at more to find the problem they said no and thats not their problem. Following week sure enough the car shuts off again at 8pm in middle of the road with my dogs and baby in the car and this time it never went back on, cops stopped the traffic moved the car off road and when I called the sos they told me they cannot tow the car because the service center is closed and they cant get permission to part the car there... So we walked home from that area about a 15-20 min walk at around 10pm I had to drag the baby back with me early morning to tow the car and sit at the crevice center all day with my poor son crying and eventually that place brought me to tears, having me there all day not tellin me anything till the very end of the day giving me a lot of problems about giving me a loaner car and only "pulling some string and giving me a car seeing that Im stuck there with a fed up toddler. No one helping me no one cared the first time it broke, now I do not feel safe in this car I also want money back from the time I spent without a working car I pay so much money for for for my time lost sitting on the phone and being transferred from person to person to tell me they cannot help me, calling corporate for them to transfer me from person to person for an hour me explains my issues over and over again to different people for them to tell me someone will call me that can help me in 3-5 business days!!! Are they crazy?! I dont want this car I dont want to deal with anyone from Hyundai anymore!!!!!! Im fed up my family is fed up I have never had so many problems with a car or with customer service as I do with this Hyundai Tucson limited! Im disgusted with the way I have bk even treated and I cannot believe Im still in this unsafe car that supposedly was fixed, a car that shuts off like this after 2 months of driving it brand new is not a safe car and is not worth $466 a month!

On July 3 and 15 almost within a 2 week span, I was driving slowly uphill on a slight incline hill for about 1 1/2 miles and through 2 different tunnels. I was caught in 2 traffic jams. A vehicle stalled in the tunnels that caused only one lane to be useable and caused the traffic jams. The traffic was merging from 2/3 lanes to 1 lane, and moving slowly, bumper to bumper. I had the warning messages and sounds that the transmission was overheated and to stop my car. Since it was unsafe to stop in the tunnel, I forced my vehicle move out of the tunnel. I was only allowed to drive very slowly. Even by pressing the accelerator pedal, I could barely get the car to move. I could only stop at a safe location outside of the tunnel. Although there were numerous cars that got stuck in the traffic jams, they did not have problem like me and were able to drive faster once they passed the stalled vehicle and the other lanes opened up. I was lucky for not being stalled in the tunnel that could have caused a hazard condition and a safety problem.

  • I REALLY wanted to love this car... - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

I really wished these reviews had been on this website before I decided to lease this car. I REALLY REALLY wanted to love this car. I chose the 2016 Tuscon over a certified pre-owned Santa Fe and now I am regretting that decision. I got this car March of this year (2016) and everything seemed great at first. Oddly enough, I never noticed the hesitation when accelerating from a stop when taking the car for a test drive. I read a review on here that said that it was normal for a turbo engine but trust me, NOTHING about this engine is normal or safe. The dealership and Hyundai will also try to tell you over and over that the engine is normal. I receive BlueLink reports every month and EVERY TIME it has told me that the engine needs attention even though I have been getting regular oil changes and service performed. This never happened with the Sonata I leased before this car. Everything other reviewers have said about this car is true. It is extremely unfortunate because I love everything else about this car. I get compliments constantly on the look (I got the Caribbean blue) and the entertainment and safety features are awesome but I just absolutely hate the engine. Almost every time I try to accelerate from a dead stop, the car hesitates for a good 1-5 seconds and this leaves you completely stuck on the road. It feels like Im being rear-ended whenever Im in stop and go traffic on the freeway because the car is so jerky. It is also very jerky sometimes when accelerating. Its a nightmare!! Now Im a person who gets motion sickness but usually I dont get car sick as long as Im driving but I swear this car makes me feel sick! I was really hoping the software update would fix it but it didnt....Im afraid it only made it worse because the car feels jerkier than ever. It also feels like the car isnt going to brake sometimes which is extremely scary. I have also had weird computer glitches. One time I turned the car on and the navigation system was stuck on the screensaver and would not work. Just recently, the car warned us that the back right tire had low tire pressure but my husband checked all of the tires and they were fine. I am also disappointed that it doesnt have a CD player....Im sure most people wouldnt mind since everyone uses an iPod these days but I noticed that the other Hyundai models do and theyre the same year. This seemed a little odd to me. It is VERY disappointing that Hyundai refuses to acknowledge this very serious problem (the transmission, not the CD player lol). I considered myself a loyal Hyundai customer before but I think Im going to have to look somewhere else for my new car. I plan to transfer my lease and get into a new car ASAP. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!

  • Dont purchase vehicle until they find a solution - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

I purchased this car last year and I wish I wouldve bought a different car. I started experiencing jerking issues a few days after I purchased the car. Not safe at all! The acceleration is poor as well. Also, my dashboard light changes when Im traveling at different speeds. I always keep the lights on the lowest setting and it randonmly changes without me touching it. I only have a little over 4k miles on this car. I rarely drive the car because I work from home now. However, I dont see this car lasting two years without having major mechanical issues. The transmission will be the first to go! Please, consider other options before purchasing this vehicle.

Bought the KIA Sportage variant instead. Bigger engine ,a hair better built, same bad gas mileage, much better price. All in all either of them would be great. This new, from the ground up, total rebuild, produces a vehicle with Swisswatch precision quality parts, build, engineering, and great styleing. Its the best out there in either the KIA or Hyundai name plates.

  • Dangerous Dual Clutch Transmission - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

10 months ago I drove my selling dealership crazy because I wanted the 2016 Tucson Limited so bad. Now I am scared to death to drive my vehicle and recommend all buyers stay away until Hyundai resolves the problem with the Dual Clutch Transmission. On three separate occasions (after 11,000 miles), I have been stopped at a traffic light and depressed the gas pedal on green. The vehicle would not move. The RPMs ran over 4,000 and the vehicle still would not move. Verified car was in Drive on the cluster/shifter and parking brake was off. I managed to get the vehicle moving after several minutes of throwing the shifter into park and then into drive and then flooring the gas pedal. In all three instances, I was incredibly lucky to not be in an accident or cause an accident. I took it to the dealership and they kept it for 5 days. They could not replicate the problem and the vehicles had no error codes. They made me feel like a fruitcake or something. They reset the transmission control module which my Hyundai Case Manager verified wont fix the problem. I have been unable to get the dealership to give me a loaner so I drive my vehicle not knowing when the problem will repeat. Will I get into an accident this time or get killed? With the complaints building on Edmunds and NHTSA, Hyundai needs to stop selling the Tucson and order all of them off the road. At a minimum, Hyundai needs to admit publicly that there is a problem and that owners should be offered loaners by Dealerships if they so request one. Also, owners should have the option of requesting that Hyundai buy the vehicles back. I dont want to give up my Tucson but I want to live more!

  • My 2016 Tucson Limited Ultimate - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

I selected the Tucson primarily because it has all the safety features I wanted and because many reviewers said it is quiet. There are other good compact SUVs I drove and considered, but most of them did not have at least one of the safety features I wanted. My Tucson has only 500 miles on the odometer, so I cannot comment on reliability or maintenance costs. It drives very well. Its agile, peppy, has sporty steering, and rides well. I have not experienced the jerky transmission performance many reviewers have commented on. Perhaps its because I dont jump on thhe throttle when starting out and always pause a bit before shifting into drive from reverse. Unfortunately, it is also much noisier than I expected, even after the test drive. Perhaps its due to the 19 inch wheels and low profile tires. Im seriously considering but a set of 17 inch wheels and tires to address this issue, but I dont know if they would be much quieter. The cabin is all black with lots of plastic. The leather seats are comfortable and power adjustable, including the front passenger seat. The navigation/entertainment system works fine, but has a steep learning curve. Sadly, it does not have Apple Play. The BlueLink system has three components, Connected Care, Remote Package, and Guidance Package. All are subscription based extra cost. I have used them all during the 90 day free trial period. The Guidance Package allows the user to set the Navi destination remotely from Google. It works, but IMHO is far too expensive for the benefit. The Remote Package has the ability to start and stop the engine and climate system remotely for a smart phone and assist in stolen car recovery. For my purpose, living in Southern California, its not worth the cost. The main features of Connected Care are automatic collision notification and assistance, SOS emergency assistance, and enhanced roadside assistance. I may subscribe to it. I dont yet have the overall gas mileage. The amount shown under Car Details is just a guess because it is required to submit this review. We just drove from Santa Barbara over San Marcos Pass to Lake Cachuma and Solvang, returning on Hwy 101 along the coast. The indicated mpg at the end of the drive was 31.8. All in all, Im very satisfied with the Tucson and recommend it.

  • Best CUV out there right now. - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

So let me start this review off by saying that any of the less than perfect reviews you see on here are people that didnt know what they were getting into when they made their purchase. If you arent used to a turbo charged engine then you will need to learn how to drive the car to minimize turbo lag. And if you arent used to a Dual Clutch Transmission then you will need to get used to that too. Several of the reviews that I read were people saying that the car felt weird or when you stepped on the gas the power wasnt immediately available. That isnt the cars fault, that is your fault for not knowing what you were purchasing. That being said, I come from a family that has only bought Toyota/Lexus and would have never considered purchasing a Hyundai. I had lived in Korea for a few years and had seen their quality go up but still figured that I would stick with Toyota no matter what. After doing a lot of research, going on several test drives, and realizing that we would probably only have this car for about 5 years, we decided to go with the Limited Tuscon with all the bells and whistles and AWD. It is zippy, quiet to drive in, handles amazingly, and is super super comfortable. My wife is in love with it. The quality and attention to detail is awesome and it is plenty big for us to take our two golden retrievers and all our gear for camping out on adventures. The all wheel drive works amazingly and we have been in very deep snow with it even just with the stock tires on 19" rims. So, for those that know what they are getting into with a turbo charged vehicle with a dual clutch transmission, you will love this car. It is so much better looking than every other CUV out there and is fun to drive and still gets 27 mpg combined. And thats with me almost burning rubber at every stop light because I love the little turbo so much. It feels like a luxury car and everything is extremely easy to use. The only thing I think it is missing is a memory function for the seats but I cant complain when we got so many other things for the price (blind spot monitoring, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, rear seat warmers). Bottom line. We love this car. It might be the only car that I love as much as my 4Runner. If you want a great CUV then go with the Tuscon and you wont be disappointed.
