Model Overview:

A compact crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson is aimed at buyers seeking the tall ride height and cargo convenience of a utility vehicle in a small, affordable package. Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Tucson has always offered a generous list of standard equipment and a lengthy warranty.

Although early versions of this Hyundai crossover have a decidedly budget feel, 2010 and later Tucsons have distinctive exterior styling and a slick interior to match. Acceleration and handling are also much better on the newer models, and fuel economy is significantly improved. Recent Tucson models are worth consideration if you're shopping for a used small crossover.

ok I have been to about 60 dealerships in multiple states for over 2 years shopping and test driving everything in this segment many times, I am very picky, I wish I could take the best things I like and morph them together so I waited and waited for this car to come out and see if I liked it. I had no interest in the old Tucson and the new Santa Fe was of big interest to me but I felt it was overpriced with the added features......I really do like this suv so far, the one thing I think that is overlooked by the "professionals" that test drive this suv is this suv has 195 pounds of torque at ONLY 1500 rpms and that is sustained until 4500 rpms..... I used to drive a Santa fe and I still cannot get used to the power the turbo Tucson has.....I have whip lash pulling out of stop signs. For a SUV/CUV its kind of a smaller lighter one with a high torque rating....I have to drive in ECO mode to try to acclimate myself....I think I would have already killed myself if it had more power - I cannot find an accurate 0-60 yet anywhere- those published are being confused with the 2.0 engine.... I think the "professionals" that do the test drives are so diluted with the massive range of cars trucks SUVs etc that they drive they loose the ability to fine tune what matters to the specific group of people into this type of car.......Also there is a lot of room in the front seat - seems to have endless adjustment to it - I am a huge guy 63 and 250 pounds and just to feel like the Santa fe I have to have the seat upwards, I will slowly adjust this back as I get used to the car.....Also no one wants to discuss the arguments about the 19 inch wheels adding a little to the ground clearance - an engineer showed me this huge equation that in the end said it added 1.45 inches........who knows....But I am impressed with the power, I thought it was slightly bigger and more powerful that the CX-5 and handled just as good maybe better off regular roads...... remember I am not a car driver I have drivin the Santa fe for several years previously.... The Nissan rougue: I liked the looks of but did not handle well for me at all the new redesign was a little better but still not good enough (felt like I would flip it around bends). The Rav 4, Honda CRV, and Escape seemed kind of boring and handling was average or below for me and I am also annoyed by both the inside and outside of the Honda CRV and everyones infatuation with it because the "professionals" are in love with it and it wins awards.......However the Subaru had superior feeling on handling - I came close to buying it - but I could not live with the square shape and boring colors even with the new redesign.... to each his own, I will give updates as I drive the car more....

  • What a surprise - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

I do have to say this CUV has surprised me, I am coming out of a 2015 Forester XT which I sent back under the Lemon Law, hated the CVT, and had nothing put problems with it after 10,000 miles, my first Subaru, may be the last. On to the Tucson, I read all about the DCT, and test drove the car 3 times before the purchase, at first was going to get the Base 1.6, but after reading all that came with the Sport decided to upgrade a little. Its worth the extra $1700, blind spot monitoring, cross traffic alert with the back up camera, 19" wheels, heated seats, and the best part the automatic rear hatch opening when to walk up. I am 63" stocky, and fit fine, did not fit in the CRV hate the CVT anyway), the Mazda CX-5, or the Rav-4. Back to the DCT, I understand why people complain, but if you stay out of the ECO Mode, unless you are cruising on the highway, its great, even normal has good punch off the line, and still no matter what I do getting 28-31 MPG. Interior fit, and finish is great, heated seats work well, two minor complaints, no locking glove box, and there is a dead spot when backing up slowly. If you are in the market for a CUV drive this one, just stay out of ECO mode, do Sport Mode youll love it.

  • Wont be my last Hyundai!! - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Have driven Saturns exclusively since 1992, Have had my Tucson for 3 months. My wife drives a 2003 Vue. She has bad knees and I needed to replace my Saturn SL2 for somthing that she could easily get in and out of. This is a very comfortable ride for her. Tucson has it all over the Vue...including price. Cant make a true price comparison because the Vue doesnt even have some of the features available on the Tucson (ie.; 6 air bags, lengthy warranty, stability control).

I allways wanted an SUV and I test drove alot of them. The first reason I decided on the Tucson was because it drove and handled like a car. The second was it just fit me and my life style. LOVE MY TUCSON

  • My wife is in love with her new Tucson - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

Aside from the test drive, I have not driven this car myself, so this review is mainly from the passengers point of view. Because our kids are getting bigger and we love to go camping, we set out on a mission to buy a small SUV. We test drove the CR-V, the Mazda CX-5, and the Hyundai Tucson. The Honda was solid with a steady ride. The Mazda was really peppy but the interior looked a little cheap even on the higher trim. When we first saw the new Tucsons, my wife loved the new body styling. When she saw the interior, she was smitten. A lot of people complain that there is too much hard plastic inside, but with two small kids (6 and 8) in tow, that is not necessarily a bad thing because it can take abuse and still clean up well. Plus, the Tucsons designers made it look very nice. The seats are very comfortable in the front and back. Im a little over six feet tall, and I sat in every seat to test them out, including the back middle position. Very comfy. I drove in Sport mode during the test drive, and with the turbo, the car would take off like a shot when I stepped on the gas. Yes, there was a second of lag during acceleration, but this is our family outing car, so we arent going to be doing any drag racing. So far on the freeway, on hills, and in the city the car has performed admirably. My wife leaves the car in Eco mode when she is driving, and so far, it is outperforming its MPG specs. It is getting about 27.5 MPG around town and on a recent road trip, it got almost 38 MPG. That is almost as good as our little Honda Fit that we replaced, and this car is twice as big. There is not quite as much cargo space as the CR-V, but there is still plenty to haul groceries and the kids sports equipment around without trouble. We both love the entertainment system. The controls are simple to operate and the stereo sounds great especially since the car rides so quietly. This is the quietest car we have ever owned. Even on the freeway, it is like you are in a quiet little bubble. At this point, we have owned the car for a month, and we have 1200 miles on it, but it has been a great purchase. If something does go wrong in the next 10 years, we have the best warranty around to get it fixed. The reason I havent driven it yet is because my wife love it so much, she always wants to drive. Mission accomplished.

  • Love my little buggy - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON

I love my little buggy! It is fun to scoot around town. It has plenty of muscle, and is excellent in traffic as well as parking in tight spaces. The sound system is great and the evironmental controls are great in the Texas Heat. It is a quiet smoothe ride. In fact, I note no difference in the ride between this and my dads Mercedes SUV. I just wish it wasnt so greedy with fuel. Otherwise it is cute, fun and reliable

  • Great car, great price - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I just got the new Tucson. I bought the Santa Fe last year and I just traded it in for the Tucson. Not only is it more sportier looking, the safety is much better. I have 2 kids and I picked the Tucson knowing that it is a much safer vehicle than the Santa Fe. Hyundais are great cars, dont get me wrong, but you cant beat the Tucson.

  • Dont waist your money - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

Ive had the car a year and on my second service they replaced a part in my transmission. I asked why and they made it sound like a recall part, but it wasnt I found out. This is when the problems started. The car once warmed up and I come to a stop in drive position it would feel like someone was push on the car from outside, and making a rumbling that seemed like it was going to stall. I have taken in three time to have fixed with no help. Since my car has no lights indicating a issue my dealer or Consumer affairs Hyundai would help. I told the dealer to reverse whatever it was they did, but they said they couldnt. Besides this the car shifts all over the place and jerks you around its horrible and engine sounds terrible. The cloth interior is horrible I have white stain marks everywhere on my black cloth. If you get water or any kind of moistness on interior it stains. the only way to get fix is shampooing the car seats which is expensive. Lots of plastic and falling apart already. Im really depressed because I have always had used cars and problems and finally bought a new car so I wont have to deal with issues and here I am again. I will be turning car into Lemon law attorney to take care of since no one can seem to fix. Also, I meet a girl with same car and same issues. These cars should be completely recalled they should not be allowed out on the road.
