Model Overview:

A compact crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson is aimed at buyers seeking the tall ride height and cargo convenience of a utility vehicle in a small, affordable package. Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Tucson has always offered a generous list of standard equipment and a lengthy warranty.

Although early versions of this Hyundai crossover have a decidedly budget feel, 2010 and later Tucsons have distinctive exterior styling and a slick interior to match. Acceleration and handling are also much better on the newer models, and fuel economy is significantly improved. Recent Tucson models are worth consideration if you're shopping for a used small crossover.

  • Transmission Issues on 2106 Hyundai Tucson Limited - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

The problem that I am having is when I start to accelerate going through the gears 1,2,3 and 4 there is a huge, pause/delay in shifting through the gears. In fact there has been may times when I start to accelerate the gears pauses and I hit the gas again and the vehicle does not accelerate at all the RPMs go up sometimes past 6 and the transmission start burning. I even got an safety display message that the transmission is overheated and to pull over for safety until it cools down. Note I only have 5719 miles and my 4th time taking it back to the dealership for service. I am driving in fear everything because this problem happens when it wants to sometimes the vehicles drives perfect then the next minute Im having the same issue. This problem is happening at a street light, stop sign, stop and go traffic on the streets and on the freeway, when I am slowing down to make a turn then accelerate and in the morning, afternoon and at night. I am afraid when I start to accelerate then the next second I cannot accelerate that the car behind me or if I am changes lanes and stop accelerating than another vehicle will crash into me. I dont know if the problem is the actual transmission and or software related, but it is unsafe and I do not want to drive this vehicle anymore.

  • AWESOME! - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I absolutely ADORE my Tucson! I bought it in Dec 04, and Im still infatuated with it. When I bought my Elantra the "honeymoon phase" lasted about a month. Hyundai improved their quality and performance by leaps and bounds between 98 (my elantra) and 04 (my Tucson). Ive actually been stopped by several people (at the gas station or parking lot) who were really impressed with it-and shocked to learn its a Hyundai.

Ive only owned this vehicle for a couple of months and Im very pleased. This is my very first SUV. My sister owns a Sonata and my dad owns a 2007 Tucson and Ive never heard them complain so I got one. My Tucson is a 2.0L 4-cyl but I like it. Could do a lot better on gas.

  • Best Bargin SUV Available - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON

I am a Grandfather, and have purchased many vehicles, I checked out the Honda, Toyota, and Lexus small SUVs prior to looking at the Tucson. The Tucson was equal or better than the others I had test driven and......the price....I saved a bundle. Fantastic SUV....I would highly recommend with no reservations.

  • so far so good - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I have had my new Tucson for about 2 weeks as of this writing. I drive an average of 55 miles a day mixed city and highway. I have been on a 900 mile round trip(to Gettysburg) with tucson. All of the "professional" reviews I read didnt seem to feel the tucson V-6 has enough power. I disagree. Even with both rear seats down and the cargo space full, with two adults up front and the A/C on- I never felt that I didnt have enough power to get on the highway safely. Its no sports car by any means but it is zippy enough to be a fun drive. My only complaint would be that I wish the steering wheel had a little bigger range of tilt and would telescope as I just cant get 100% comfortable

  • Love Driving a Tucson - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I love driving this car. My only complaint is that the mileage is only about 20 mpg and my old car did better. It has a lot of pep and a lot of room, but still isnt so big as most SUVs. Its easy to maneuver. The A/C will blow you into the back seat and it just feels good driving it. Before I bought the Tucson I drove a Suzuki SUV, a Toyota Rav4 and a Honda CRV and the Tucson won hands down.

  • Best vehicle for the money - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON

The beginning of the year I had my eye on the small Lexus SUV. I waited until Nov to check it out. Then went to see the Tucson. Within 2 weeks we decided to make an offer to test drive it and ultimately purchased the vehicle. The personnel were by far the most honest and experienced. The process went very smoothly and did not have to wait for any unnecessary time frame. We couldnt have asked for a more uncomplicated and smooth process. Id highly recommend this dealership; and, more importantly, the TUCSON as the absolute best buy for the money. I tell you what, you will change your mind just as I did once you give this SUV a chance. So, check it our for yourself. I highly recommend it.
