Model Overview:

A compact crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson is aimed at buyers seeking the tall ride height and cargo convenience of a utility vehicle in a small, affordable package. Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Tucson has always offered a generous list of standard equipment and a lengthy warranty.

Although early versions of this Hyundai crossover have a decidedly budget feel, 2010 and later Tucsons have distinctive exterior styling and a slick interior to match. Acceleration and handling are also much better on the newer models, and fuel economy is significantly improved. Recent Tucson models are worth consideration if you're shopping for a used small crossover.

  • Electronic issue or just bad parts - 2010 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

I liked 31/23 mph (but since only getting 26/17) also liked dual moon roofs and style of the dash and interior. But a week after a/c compressor broke & was replaced right away. Then the speedometer intermittently stopped working or read wrong. I took back a few times before they could concur that it was bad. Blue tooth would connect and then kick me out Bluetooth & speedometer repalced. I opened up a case with Hyundai-consumer that something might be wrong with electrical. They replaced and now a month later the blue tooth did the same thing going to replace again. I opened up case suggesting electrical, but they say nothing is related. using up sick days to go to dealers once a month.

  • Great Car at a Great Price! - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

I test drove many cars --- the Honda CRV, the new RAV4, the Ford Escape, the Nissan Murano, but this car had everything for a much better price. Great exterior design and interior features. Love the Hyundai attitude... they want you to be happy.... nationwide roadside assistance and the dealer/salesfolks are very pleasant and positive about their vehicle and making you happy.

  • Our Tuscon is a Lemon! - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

Purchased the 2016 Tuscon Limited with all the bells and whistles of a luxurious car. Had a 2013 we traded and loved that car! Daughter has a Hyundai as well. We have never taken a vehicle in except for routine maintenance until this car. There was the delay with the double clutch but there was something more. At 5000 miles, called the dealer for the routine maintenance and told them about this new stalling that had began. Had probably happened 2-3 times at that point. It would act like I was pushing a clutch (that wasnt there) and the accelerator at the same time so the vehicle would start to stop/stall. This wasnt the delay but a complete stall. On March 11, it stalled going across 4 lanes of traffic and I was happy to get to the other side once the transmission started working again. At that point, started feeling like the car was unsafe. Was only a mile from home and the car stalled several times before I could get home. Ended up calling Hyundai Roadside Service and having the car towed because it was not drivable. Was put in a rental car for less than a week and was told it was a recall. Was thrilled to hear this because we really loved the car and was hopeful this was the issue. Never got the car home, which was about 25 miles, before the stalls were worse than before. Took the car back that night and got the rental back. Dealer called March 15 and it was the control actuary assembly for the transmission and the part wouldnt be in for about 12 more days but I had the good ole rental! I asked (after consulting with a professional with credentials as in a crew chief for NASCAR) for a new transmission because it could have caused damage to the other parts of the transmission like the clutches, etc and they never listened to me of course. Got the car back on March 26th and on March 30, called about more issues. the wiper in the back wouldnt turn off when the front were on, then the car started stalling again and this time with a loud noise. Each and every time it happened, I thought I had been hit by another car. I have been completely stopped on the interstate as well as other roads. Called the dealer and here I go in again. Got me another rental and they couldnt duplicate the issue so I had to come and get my unsafe car. On my next commute to work I decided to turn my video on my phone on. The car stalled and you could hear the noise so I have the tape. Took the car in with the audio and they had no idea. 4/18/2016 Was called back to the dealer to put a monitor on my car so I could push a button when this happened and it would record a minute before and a minute after. Within 4 days, I had MULTIPLE recordings. 4/21/2016 On my way to the dealer on the interstate the car stalled and this was yet a different stall. This time I was accelerating and the RPMs was stuck and the car wouldnt go over 50mph unless I floored it all the way. Called the dealer in tears and was given a loaner car that evening for ONE day. The following day with the monitor in hand, received a call from dealer stating it would be the following Tuesday before the engineer from Hyundai would know what was wrong and I needed to come and get my UNSAFE car. I refused and told them I didnt want the UNSAFE vehicle and they could have their loaner. On my lunch break while I was away, they came with my car (I didnt know they were coming)to my job to trade vehicles with me and put me back in the UNSAFE car. Since I wasnt at my office, they had to go back to the dealer and while on their way back, the car stalled and did its thing twice (5 miles away). They called and said I could now get ANOTHER rental since they had heard and felt what was going on in my car. REALLY HYUNDAI????? TALKING ABOUT ADDING INSULT TO INJURY??????? BTW, at this point the computers have went out twice and been reset as well so been driving with no radio, media, phone, phone chargers, bluetooth, navigation, etc. I had been to the dealer 4 times in one week!!!! Yesterday I got a call from the dealer and got the same call from supposed to be the engineer about their next move and that is to replace the transmission and the complete computer on the dash. Its April 27th, and the parts will be in May 19th. Really????????? My car qualifies as a lemon under the lemon law and Ive asked for another car. Who would put their family in this car at this point? Im scared to get in it and have 2 daughters who drive that I will never allow to drive the car. I have also been hit by another vehicle because the car stalled. Hyundai do you have anything to say for yourself? Help me understand why you would put the safety of my family in jeopardy for weeks knowing there were transmission issues with the vehicle I have purchased from you. UPDATE: Transmission and computer replaced but its still not always engaging in a gear. It was towed back to the dealer again tonight. I have a case with Hyundai and engineer coming Thursday

  • Fun and Exciting!!! - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

I bought my first Hyundai (Excel) in 1993, & loved it. Then last year (2004) my partner and I purchased a 2004 Sonata & totally love it. So, when my Honda Civic gave out on me, I decided to take a look at the Santa Fe & was not impressed. I then began my research on small SUVs & was not too impressed with what was out there. Then one day I went with a friend of mine, to his Hyundai dealer, & saw the Tucson. Knowing that I didnt care for the Santa Fe I almost didnt look at it. I let my curiosity get the best of me & Im so glad I did. I couldnt believe the room it had in it. I decided to take it for a test drive, it handles so well and drives GREAT! I LOVE MY TUCSON & you will too

  • i got a lemon - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON

this poor vehicle has been in the shop so much. i experienced it dead in my driveway 3x in my first year, problems with the tire pressure indicator light, replacement of a stereo which was draining the battery (4 trips to diagnose and replace), and air conditioning which would not blow out the top vents. after a year, i am trading, or lemon lawing it.

  • Tucson GLS Best Car we ever had - 2011 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

Iris blue with black tint is the sharpest looking vehicle. The exterior and interior design is brilliant. The Tucson drives extreemly well and the handling is better than the corolla we previously had. Love the AWD that only kicks in when needed (or when you press the button to engage it full time). The bluetooth works very well and was easy to pair two phones in a minute. The dealer was willing to deal and we ended up getting two extra years of warrenty thrown in (to bring it to 7 full years). We also got a price reduction equal to the undercoating and paint protection. Plus it came with a 1200 litre gas card. The real bonus is the 0% financing for 72 months!

  • GPS System - 2011 Hyundai TUCSON

The desgin of the GPS in this car is very bad. You cant use in the daylight. It has the back-up camera but its worthless during the day. A true waste of our money for this package. Other than that we really like the car.

  • No Problem with gas mileage - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

I had my heart set on a new 07 Honda CRV and liked the way it drove and looked but I simply could not justify paying $7000 more for the Honda with less accessories and warranty. While I feel that the Hyundai has a less sophisticated drive train than the Honda, in all other respects it meets or exceeds Honda quality. On the issue of MPG I have seen reviews where the owners were disappointed but I did a first check fill up and combined city/hgwy yielded 23.9 MPG which I feel is very acceptable for an SUV with a V6.

  • Tucson review-4th Hyundai - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Easy & fun to drive.Turning radius as good or better than a car.Snow driving has been handled with very good control. Like the size better than the Santa Fe. Like the comfort better also.4WD has been advantage to the size & ability to control vehicle. For the price in comparison with other vehicles of like it seems much more worth it than all the extra thousands for just a few more add ons or a little higher quality materials. Dealership has been very good in working with us. This is our 4th Hyundai-for Service,Friendliness, what they say they will do,they have been following thru, probably another reason why this our 4th 7 they get our return business.Only got 1000miles so farbutonly21mpg,

  • My first suv - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

I am very pleased with this SUV. We looked at cr-v and rav-4 and found this was a best buy for our money. We are snow birds from Boston so the space was important to us. We bought a fwd ( no snow in Fla. ) I have only 350 miles on it. I am getting about 21- 22 mpg. All city driving and the ac on.
