Model Overview:

A compact crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson is aimed at buyers seeking the tall ride height and cargo convenience of a utility vehicle in a small, affordable package. Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Tucson has always offered a generous list of standard equipment and a lengthy warranty.

Although early versions of this Hyundai crossover have a decidedly budget feel, 2010 and later Tucsons have distinctive exterior styling and a slick interior to match. Acceleration and handling are also much better on the newer models, and fuel economy is significantly improved. Recent Tucson models are worth consideration if you're shopping for a used small crossover.

I have put my first 3000 miles on this truck. So far no problems. Comfortable for me and enough room for those Home depot trips. Rides quiet and smooth. Good handling with nice turn radius.

Overall its a great CUV. Performs brilliantly in the snow which is why I got it. The one gripe which is a big gripe and you can see it peppered through the other reviews, is that the tranmission, the dual clutch is jerky and confused and feels like the clutch is slipping in very low speeds (1-10 mph). I had a VW dual clutch before this car, and from my understanding former VW engineers built this car which was a big selling point, but the VW dual clutch doesnt have this issue and its incredibly awkward in slow moving traffic. It would have been a 10 out of 10 if they just got this right, and I think a proper software revision would fix it. Hope to god they do.

I drove a bunch of different SUVs in this price category. My impressions: Honda CRV - Nice car but under powered. Would have bought this if it came in a 6 cyl. or turbo. Mazda MX-5 Also nice but rather austere and plain. Ford Escape - Very nice styling, good power, busy instrumentation and a bit too close and crowded in the front seat. Hundai Santa Fe - unimpressed, also under-powered based on the non turbo version I drove. Hundai Tucson Ltd 1.6 with turbo engine....Goldie Locks - everything felt just right. Nice styling, nice ride. Very impressed with the 1.6 turbo engine and the vehicles acceleration. Turbos sometimes take a little getting used to. Instrumentation is clear and not cluttered. Sporty feel with very good brakes. Cabin feels larger than the competitors. Lots of technology bells and whistles. This year 2016 is a new re-design. I have the vehicle a short time, so I cant attest to its reliability. However, Hundai offers one of the best vehicle warantees in the business. So far, I have been very pleased with the vehicle.

I enjoy driving my Tuscon. Its really great in the snow. Last winter I drove from Vermont to Connecticut in a huge snowstorm and my Tuscon handled so well. I do wish the fuel economy was better. I do alot of around town driving and I mostly get right around 19 or 20mpg. On trips about 25mpg. There could be better leg room for the driver. Im not overly tall..510.5" and I just wish I could push the seat back one more click when its fully extended. Passengers who ride in the rear tell me its comfortable. Three small people can fit in the back seat but 2 average sized adults are comfortable. The sound system is good. Need more storage space in the front and a better positioned cup holders

I love my car, though it looks like a rhinoceros. Lots of interior room, great Heat & A/C. Smooth, quiet ride. Inexpensive enough that I am not paranoid about keeping in shiny. Good automobile for a gal looking for a SUV.

  • 2012 Tucson Limited FWD - 2012 Hyundai TUCSON

Owned for 7 months, have racked up 14000 miles. As weather conditions vary in central Midwest, its handled well in snow. Safety features, quality all positives. Just returned from 3500 mile driving vacation, avgd 29.7 mpg - included interestate, local hwy and city driving. We were very pleased with performance & comfort. Suspension would be a bit better (for Arizona hwy driving--roads stink) and some road noise but not so bad as to want to trade. Yes, there are blindside issues but Ive gotten use to them & have adjusted. At purchase, very few colors available - mostly all dark - I couldnt get my 1st or 2nd color choice.

Ive only owned it for a short time, but its got me hooked. I traded my 2002 RAV4 for it, and I have no regrets. (I did like my RAV, so this is not meant to denigrate that wonderful car.) My insurance was about $3 different, and I absolutely love the color. (I chose Alpine Frost, which looked dark in the book, but is rather light and wont show dirt easily.) Im so glad there was something other than silver available. The V6 moves. After my little 4-cylinder, the power took some getting used to -- unless I wanted my first ticket! The Tucson is comfortable, versatile, and looks good. Ill write again after Ive had it for a while...

  • Great value! - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

I love the look of the new Tucson! But I dont spend that kind of money for looks alone. I really like great in cabin tech. I thought Android Auto was going to be available from the start. Turns out theres a delay in the upgrade. The voice command system is horrifically slow. I think Android Auto or Apple Car play will do wonders for the system. The Nav is great but youll want to type in the destination rather than use the voice command. The 8" touch screen is very responsive & youll feel just like youre using your phone or tablet. The rear camera, back-up sensors, blind spot & lane departure are awesome! The interior materials are great (Limited edition/Ultimate package). Now the dual clutch transmission. This is going to be tough to get used to. It has a significant hesitation from a dead stand still. I find myself "2 footing" when I need to jump into traffic from a complete stop. (Left foot on the brake & give it a little rev) Its much better than any CVT Ive ever driven (I really hate those) but I would have preferred a traditional transmission. The auto stick is awesome & Ill use that when I need to jump off a line as well. Backing up at low speeds will sometimes cause the car to "lurch". Not sure why that happens but when backing into my garage I have to "2 foot" it again. Overall Im very happy with the purchase & Im looking forward to the Android Auto update.

  • 106,000 and still going strong - 2007 Hyundai TUCSON

Ive had this car for 5 years now and with 107,000 miles it has never given me an issue. Good around town, on the highway, and decent in the mountains. Found. Snow tires are a must if you have to get out in heavy snow! Comfortable, reliable, with good cargo capacity.

Very pleased with the car with the exception of gas mileage not as good as we expected. The six cylinder has plenty of power and acceleration for an SUV of this size. Very impressed with interior roominess.
