Model Overview:

A compact crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson is aimed at buyers seeking the tall ride height and cargo convenience of a utility vehicle in a small, affordable package. Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Tucson has always offered a generous list of standard equipment and a lengthy warranty.

Although early versions of this Hyundai crossover have a decidedly budget feel, 2010 and later Tucsons have distinctive exterior styling and a slick interior to match. Acceleration and handling are also much better on the newer models, and fuel economy is significantly improved. Recent Tucson models are worth consideration if you're shopping for a used small crossover.

We purchased and drove our Tuson 1400 miles before we drove from Des Moines to Tampa. Driving to Tampa at an average speed of 65 to 70mph we got anywhere from 22 to 24 mpg, I hope to get at least 26 as it gets broke in. We are extremely pleased with the amount of interior space and with the quiality of the workmanship. The six cyl seems to have all the power we will need, I dont believe the engine is as quiet as a Highlander but then look at the difference in price and the warranty.

Okay, I know its not the top of the line model with the bells & whistles - but this SUV is wonderful! Its interior is roomy, ride smooth, noise is minimum, the safety features are unmatched. My insurance even went down!! IMO you get a lotta car for a lost less than Honda and Toyota - who, by the way - tried to rip me off time & time again. Hyundai cares about their customers & its shown from the 100K mile warranty to all of the additional perks we received after purchase. Ive been warned about buying a Hyundai - have heard all of the jokes about how unreliable it is. Well, with the warranty, Lemon Law protection & perks - you can laugh away...but my husband a came out the winners!!

  • Great value and performance - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON

This vehicle feels big inside but is not much bigger than the Elantra, and parks anywhere. Tons of nice features and safety packages (ABS, 6 airbags, TCS, ESC). Innovative fold-down hard back seats for cargo carrying. Interior looks better than expected for the money. No problems with acceleration or braking. Handling better than lots of non-SUVs I have owned. Warranty cant be beat.

  • Just got but love it !!!! - 2008 Hyundai TUCSON

I just got my Tuscon and love it so far. I have heard complaints about the mileage, but my only problem I have with that is, I want to drive mine everywhere, even if I have no where to go, because it is very nice to drive so if i am using more gas it is because I am driving more.

Car (Limited model) is totally better than either my 05 GLS or "06 GL in every respect. The ride, quietness of engine under normal driving or demand was surprising. It appears to have as good (power) as my 05 w 6 cyl engine. Economy far better about 24+ in city and about 26-27 @70 mph. Car has only 300+ miles and fuel economy should improve. Interior done very well. Exterior beautiful. Handling very positive. All in all, Hyundai did one heck of a job on this new Tucson!

Bought the GLS 6 cyl new from dealer. Very reliable for the first three years I owned it. Good drivers visibility. Not exciting to drive, and not very fuel efficient (for 3500 lbs). Puny V6 engine. Useless rear trunk cover. Tire pressure light too sensitive. Ride was a little smoother carrying a full load vs. traveling light.

The overall looks, price, and warranty on the SUV makes it very affordable. I researched others and this was the best for the money I cant say thet I have ever enjoyed any other car or SUV better. I enjoy driving it.

  • Awesome - 2008 Hyundai TUCSON

I absolutely love the way my new SUV handles. The gas is pretty good on highway, 28 and 22 around town. Not too shabby. Its extremely comfortable and very roomy. It offers a lot for the price. Tinted windows in the back, the seats fold down and the window in the way back can open with out opening the hatch back. I dont really have any dislikes. The only thing that I wish I could have gotten is four wheel drive. The warranty is Fantastic.

  • Excellent - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

This is my first new car, and I love it. I started looking at the Santa Fe, but then I saw the Tuscon and I loved it. It drives smooth, great on gas and is a pleasure to own. If you are looking for a compact SUV this is it!
