Model Overview:

A compact crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson is aimed at buyers seeking the tall ride height and cargo convenience of a utility vehicle in a small, affordable package. Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Tucson has always offered a generous list of standard equipment and a lengthy warranty.

Although early versions of this Hyundai crossover have a decidedly budget feel, 2010 and later Tucsons have distinctive exterior styling and a slick interior to match. Acceleration and handling are also much better on the newer models, and fuel economy is significantly improved. Recent Tucson models are worth consideration if you're shopping for a used small crossover.

  • Great SUV! - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I purchased the Tucson in July and I love it. In March, I purchased a Santa Fe but I wanted a smaller SUV. So, I traded it in and bought the Tucson. I really love it - performance, style, interior and exterior. However, an eighteen year old smashed into the SUV the first week of August. I am still waiting to get my SUV back. The SUV smashed very, very easily and the person was going 15 or 20 mph when he hit me. He smashed my door, side fender, and the SUV has suspension damage. It is now Sept. and I am hoping to get the SUV back before the end of the month. It appears that parts are hard to find.

  • I Absolutely Loved my Tuscon!!! - 2007 Hyundai TUCSON

Comfortable, smooth ride for myself and passengers. My elderly parents get in and out easily. Love the design and have always enjoyed driving it. The fold-down seats lay flat and Ive used this vehicle as much like a truck as I have a car. Large items load easily in the back, and the clips on the back seats are great to keep groceries bags in place. Cup holders for everyone. But best of all is its safety. I was reacently broadsided by another driver. The force of the hit was extensive, but the vehicle did was it was designed to do: keep me as safe as possible. Im plan to get another Tuscon...just not satisfied with anything else out there...Ive looked but cant find a comparable.

I bought it a few weeks ago and love it. We had a big snow day beofre Thanksgiving and it went right thru the worst of the snow like it was nothing. Had a blast driving it. Very roomy inside, very comfortabke seats. Almost like sitting in a living room. Tons of standard cool features. My only gripe is the gas mileage. It was estimated to be 20/27, but I am getting 18avg city/highway, and most of my driving has been highway! Whats up with that? Otherwise, it was better than I expected.

  • so far so good - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

We just purchased the car, we upgraded from a 4cyl. vehicle and we are still adjusting to the additional fuel costs, but not bad. We love everything about the car, I would appreciate a better arm rest in the front and the cd player when switching to another disc doesnt always start on track one. I was slightly concerned about my image if caught driving a Hyundai, but now after 3 weeks I think it is the smartest buy I ever made and know it is going to be a big seller, The only other car that compared in comfort and a smooth ride was the Lexus rx, I drove them all! The Tucson is a great ride.

Have driven the vehicle over 6,000 miles since purchase. No problems of any type have been observed. Good acceleration, traction and handling characteristics. Fuel economy, approximately 20 MPG average, is within the lower portion of the published range.

  • DONT BUY HYUNDAI :( - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

Ive had it in 3 time on my electric lock, it makes a screeching noise and until THEY hear it they wont fix it. You have a warrant on it but they will not fix it. Plus the transmission is slipping when you are at a stop sign it acts like it cant get up to go and you have to push the gas pedal really hard so you want get hit. Then one morning at home I was backing out of my drive way and put it in drive and it would not go, it took like 5 minutes before it would move I took it to Bob Howard in OKC and they keep all day and said cant get it to do it. So bring it back and leave it a few days, I am scare to drive it. I feel like because Iam a older woman and a widow they are not listen to me. So dont buy at Bob Howard in OKC.The transmission is terrible it shifts like it was a old stick car, it has something called a double clutch that cannot be fixed, They reset it back to the factory settings, and said that all they can do. THe door locks still has the screeching noise, they put on new locks but it still does it. So when I pick it up they said they could do no more. Plus when I bought it he let on that I could get cheaper interest if I took this $1400.00 play that protects the inside and out, which by the way consists of 5 bottles of stuff for you to use on it. When I try to cancel it they make it clear it cannot be cancel. So rip off as usual, so that adds on to the cost which you will never see. So my question is can they be sued and is anyone suing them and getting anywhere. I truely afraid to drive this car. How about some help. BJ

  • Excellent purchase - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I traveled this summer from Ga to PA. My children came with us. My son is 64"and my daughter 57". They expressed how comfortable and spacious the back seats were. The back seats also have the option to recline for better comfort.

First off, this is a STRIPPER model. No frills, base model with very few options. BUT.... what all do you need? Power windows and locks? check. Cruise? check. AC? check. Audio system? check. What else do you really need? Im 50 and can remember when all the above was OPTIONAL stuff. Coming from different vehicles, I can say this vehicle works. It isnt super fast. Its a Crossover. Do I really need to sub 6 second 0 - 60 times? No. The audio is simple to use. It even has a TUNING knob. Does it have nav? Nope. but thats a hassle anymore if you have a smart phone. Google Maps is always updated. The Tucson is showing 27 mpg after the first week. Pretty good I think. Not the best, not the worst. And we live in hilly area at base of mountains, so 27 is pretty good in mixed driving. I do miss the power seats of my previous vehicles. Especially as my wife & I change drivers. The seat is not the most comfortable, but hoping as it wears in, will be less aggravation. Its good looking, practical transportation. No more, no less.

  • Poor Traction - 2007 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

This car is nice but it doesnt get the traction one would expect from a 4WD. The tires have a "B" traction rating which would mean lower end. Other than that its not a bad SUV. In many ways its better than the more expensive counterparts.
