Model Overview:

A compact crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson is aimed at buyers seeking the tall ride height and cargo convenience of a utility vehicle in a small, affordable package. Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Tucson has always offered a generous list of standard equipment and a lengthy warranty.

Although early versions of this Hyundai crossover have a decidedly budget feel, 2010 and later Tucsons have distinctive exterior styling and a slick interior to match. Acceleration and handling are also much better on the newer models, and fuel economy is significantly improved. Recent Tucson models are worth consideration if you're shopping for a used small crossover.

  • BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK! - 2007 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

I just bought this SUV on 3-12-2007 Ive only owned it for a couple days, I was going to buy a tiburon but my wife talked me out of it since we have a 13month old. Overall I have to say I under estimated it. I LOVE THIS SUV, I had 2 blazers before this and man they were gas hogs, this gets around 300mi off a full tank. It has the same motor as the tiburon so the performace of a 4cyl is equal and I liked that alot! What more is there to say I LOVE THIS TRUCK!

  • Tucson - Everything I wanted - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

I purchased my Tucson just before Christmas last year and have just over 10,000 mi now. Im VERY happy with the vehicle. When I was searching I wanted all the luxury features but had a very strict budget. This vehicle allowed me to get all I wanted and keep within my budget. I think everyone looking for a vehicle in this class should definitely give the Tucson a look. And Im impressed with the gas mileage for being a V6. My Mother owns the Honda CRV and I get the same gas mileage as she does and I have the V6!

Battery will go dead at infrequent random times. I installed a new battery, but same problem. Dealer has no idea how to fix it. The trans-axle began to leak oil and make a burning smell. The dealer repaired it alright. Front tires are already worn out at 38k miles. The door remote control function is intermittent. I find myself shifting in manual mode most of the time, to obtain the most power and gas mileage. Also, the warranty may appear good at first, but the required maintenance schedules should be reviewed before buying. Would I buy this vehicle again? I dont think so. Mostly because of the battery issue.

  • Went from always having a car to the Tuscon Sport - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

Okay, so I never had an SUV before and never planned on it, but when my lease was expiring on my Sonata it was time to look. The Tuscon Sport looked so great and sporty I had to give it a try. The heated seats and the way the seat hugs you is so comfortable! I tried the Sante Fe, but the Tuscon seat comfort was much better to me. The ride is quiet and pretty smooth considering I live where there arent very great kept streets. I drive mostly in ECO mode and have turned it off and noticed the huge difference in power, I have also played with the manual shift and might experience some more as I can drive a manual. Brakes work great and I love the back up camera and was surprised when it warned me a car was coming up the street and not to mention I love the lane change indicator for the blind spots. So now Ill never go back to a car again... And I love Hyundai as their warranty is to die for....I have owned a 2003 Elantra, then the 2012 Sonata, but the Tuscon by far the best. I didnt even bother looking at other SUVs, Im glad I read the other reviews about the other SUVs out there..confirmed to me I did not make a mistake in buying my Tuscon. My SUV gets great compliments...1) mailman was like wow that has a really great trim line, 2) dealership the person installing my remote start said what a beautiful vehicle, 3) my friend was wowed by the appearance....was not expecting the first 2 at all and never had anyone say anything about my Sonata. So go for it, if thinking of buying....I love mine!

  • Tucson 2011 MPG - 2011 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

Hyundai advertises on TV that the 2011 Tucson gets 30 mpg. My experience for the first 2000 miles is 21.9 mpg. Most of the driving is highway and short trips (5 miles) to town.

  • Problems Galore! **Rebuilt Warranty** - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

My family bought a new 2006 Hyundai Tucson GLS 2.7L 4 speed Automatic in the fall of 2006. We have had it maintained every time at or before 3000 miles or 3 months (It has under 50,000 miles as of now, fall of 2011). When it was 3 years and approx. 30,000 it started having significant problems with the 4WD, transmission, and power steering. Now it has been sitting at the dealer for a month (NO JOKE!) for a ***REBUILT*** transmission to be put in and rear struts that recently started leaking. So far the dealer has not done anything to the car. We will never buy Hyundai again. RAV4 is the replacement SUV!

  • Best value for the money on a small SUV - 2011 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

In looks alone is the best of all small SUVs not counting SUVs that cost more than twice as much. For the price of a loaded Tucson, you can only get an entry level Tiguan or any other model. The only comparable SUV for quality and value is the KIA but t does not even come close to the good looks of the Tucson. Got my Limited, with navigation and sky roof for 26k(MSRP was 28.9k), not sure if it was the best deal but I am satisfied with the price.

  • Suspension system - 2010 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

Driving my new at low speed Tucson is like driving on a railroad track. The suspension system is terrible. There is a terrigle clunking which the company rep says is there because the "magazine buffs" want it that way." According to the rep enough people complained so that they went back to Korea which said thats the way we want it even though the buyers disagreed. In addition it is poorly sound insulated so the spare tire chamber acts as a sound amplifyer. The dealer has tried to fix it to no avail. The company rep on the east coast is only willing to sing the company song! By the way my mileage is not what they advertised!
