Model Overview:

A compact crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson is aimed at buyers seeking the tall ride height and cargo convenience of a utility vehicle in a small, affordable package. Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Tucson has always offered a generous list of standard equipment and a lengthy warranty.

Although early versions of this Hyundai crossover have a decidedly budget feel, 2010 and later Tucsons have distinctive exterior styling and a slick interior to match. Acceleration and handling are also much better on the newer models, and fuel economy is significantly improved. Recent Tucson models are worth consideration if you're shopping for a used small crossover.

  • My 2012 Tucson story - 2012 Hyundai TUCSON

My Wife and I bought a new 2012 Hyundi Tucson on Dec 28 from San Francisco Hyundi. Less than 3 three months later the engine needed to be replaced because the engine gasket was bad and leaked coolant into the engine. The only thing everyone cared about was what Hyundi Motors Company said. The service department knew what the problem and the solution was, but they were told to wait by Hyundi Motors Company until the gasket could get tested. Hyundai motors wanted to make sure they knew what the problem was. I didnt buy this car from Hyundai so they could keep it in the shop testing it. They could have at least filled my tank when they were done fixing it.

This is a great little SUV. So roomy and comfortable seating too. The warranty is unbeatable and proves that Hyundai is confident in its product. The standard ammenities that it comes with just surpass all others (cd, 8 airbags, heated mirrors, back defroster) just to name a few. The gas mileage is average for an SUV. Not great, but then again your not driving a compact 4 cyl car either. The dealership I dealt with was wonderful- not pushy or high- pressure. I foresee many Hyundais in my future. Actually have my sights on the new 06 Accent.

  • What a ride - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

This is a wonderful vehicle. It has as much room for the driver as my Expedition. Drives like a sports car. The all wheel, 4 wheel drive option is quite surprising. Had the vehicle in the snow, no problems. The sound systems is very nice.

  • Best small SUV for the MONEY - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON

Great small SUV. GREAT gas millage for an SUV. i do 50/50 freeway and city and my overall MPG is 20. i get 22-25 on the highway depending on my speed. around 27 if i drive 55mph, but couldnt continue very long at that slow speed. GREAT PRICE i got mine for $16,500 with 10,000 miles on it. it kbb at 21,500 privet party when i got it. now its at 17,500 after a few months. so i know theres no way im going to get my money back if i decide to sell so most likely i am keeping it until it dies. Great car for the price, i drive alot and it has been very trust worthy. lots of room for long trips, and 4wd is nice to have in the snow.

  • Wow! Way to go Hyundai! - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

We purchased our new Tucson on 4/10/05. And all I can say is WOW! This tiny vehicle is big on the inside, and small on price. We traded in our 2003 Elantra GLS GT and we are completely satisfied. I was already used to good pick-up and power from having the GT,but I didnt think they could do better. We live in the Mts. of PA and the Elantra never really handle the inclines that well, but the Tucson rips up the road without a problem. Previous reviews about the Tucson that said the gas mileage was not good, but I disagree. Gas mileage is comparable with everyone else. At todays gas prices all gas mileage seems bad. Weve had it for 4 days now, and put on 800 miles. I love this car.

  • A mixed bag - 2010 Hyundai TUCSON

Weve been driving this vehicle now for 9 months. My wife loves it (it is primarily her car) but Im not so sure. What I like: An incredibly short turning radius. The look of the vehicle, both inside and out. All of the extras at a reasonable price (heated leather seats, bluetooth, etc). What I dont like: The ride is really rough, much rougher than my Nissan Maxima or even my beat up old pickup. You will feel every bump on the road. Most annoying: The gas mileage weve been getting isnt even close to the EPA rating. Low teens in town, low 20s on the highway. I dont drive like a maniac (anymore). If I pushed it hard Id hate to think how bad the mpg would be...

  • Love my 05 Tucson - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Ive driven 05 Tucson for 4+ years now, and Ive been very happy. So far just changing wears and tears like tires, breaks, oils, wipers, belts, etc. No major problems at all so far after 71,000 miles. My old Volvo usually cost me annually $2-3000 for major repairs with constant halts on highways. Happy to get rid of it. Living in East coast, went through a few big snow storms, and no problems at all with 2WD(front), and ETS always helped me staying on the road. I also took many long trips to Chicago, Main, Virginia, etc, and very comfortable with 5 people in the car with luggage. I also used this car a lot for moving, excellent when frnt&rear seats completely go plat, lots of cargo space.

With in the first 1500 miles I had to take my wife to a Philadelphia hospital.Thats a 250 mile round trip for me. The Tucson was great on the highway and even better driving in downtown Philly. I would recomend this small SUV to anyone.

I love my Tucson! The size is perfect - I dont feel like I am driving a bus. The ride is smooth and it is very easy to drive. It takes corners better than any SUV Ive driven. I feel comfortable and safe when I drive and thats what I love about it the most. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a smaller SUV and better gas mileage!
