Model Overview:

A compact crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson is aimed at buyers seeking the tall ride height and cargo convenience of a utility vehicle in a small, affordable package. Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Tucson has always offered a generous list of standard equipment and a lengthy warranty.

Although early versions of this Hyundai crossover have a decidedly budget feel, 2010 and later Tucsons have distinctive exterior styling and a slick interior to match. Acceleration and handling are also much better on the newer models, and fuel economy is significantly improved. Recent Tucson models are worth consideration if you're shopping for a used small crossover.

  • False Mileage Estimates - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON

This is a fun, fun car to drive, but no matter how conservative I am, if I am driving on the highway at or just below the speed limit, this vehicle has not averaged more than 20.8 mpg. This is extremely disapointing. It was one of the reasons I went with this model. The Tucson was rated at 20 city and 26 hwy - I really thought I could average at least 22 mpg - it makes me wonder what else was misrepresented...

Just bought a new 2006 Tucscon, Alpine Frost. Love it! Other drivers stare at my cute new car. Drove my baby grandson, daughter & son-in-law up to visit my elder daughter & family in the Tri-Cities area two days after I bought it. The Tucson drove great! I am very impressed with its stability around curves and the way it holds the road. Very comfortable drive. I havent had a brand-new vehicle since I bought a new 4-dr Datsun in 1965.. This little Hyundai is so sturdy and so well made, I know Im going to love it the more I drive it. Im retiring this December and look forward to traveling between grand-kids... even in the winter! I just dont think you can go wrong with this car.

So far, I like the general conservative styling of the vehicle. I have the black interior which gets rid of a lot of the tackiness and cheap feel. Audio is great. Handling is brilliant for a car in its class. A few blind spots, but otherwise vision is good. Space is well used in car, although question to the depth of the dashboard, could be smaller so that the interior is forward with larger boot. Fuel economy and engine performance is rubbish. Thus far have got no where near what the dealer claimed, transmission is horrible, it needs 5 gears with better ratios, and it loves a drink. You watch the fuel gauge more than the road. Dont get this if you want an economical car.

Excellent, beautiful leather interior, attractive body style, drives like a car, comfortable as a expensive auto.

Ive had mine for a month now and drove across the desert to Arizona in the rain. It handled beautifully! Fun to drive. I love all of the features, and I didnt have to spend a fortune to have them.

  • Great car for a great price! - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON

Watch out Toyota and Honda! Hyundai makes a quality vehicle for an unbeatable price. I got ALL the options on the Tuscon -- leather, sunroof, etc. -- for thousands less than a similarly equipped Rav4 or CRV. Plus, the sporty design of the car makes it look more like a luxury SUV than the typical clunky and square SUVs. I have gotten numerous compliments on this great car. You cant beat the price, warranty and quality of a Hyundai!

  • Hello Turbo. - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

I have always had big V8 trucks. Didnt have to worry about gas mileage because they were always weekend vehicles. I had a company vehicle during the week. I ended up with the 2016 Tucson Sport 1.6T mainly because of Edmunds.com expert review. New position at work required me to have my own commuter vehicle, so I figured compact SUV with great mileage. Granted, I have had this vehicle for a week now and have only put 115 miles on it... so take this review with stride. This is more of my first impression than it is longevity. I will keep reporting my views as I travel through the mileage. First off, it costs less then $35 bucks to fill up. I live in Texas, so gas prices hover around $2.20 - 2.40 at the moment. This is huge to me since I was used to $70 fill ups. I looked at all the comparable vehicles as well. My wife has the Mazda CX-5 Touring. I could have purchased one as well, but honestly, its boring to me. The Ford escape is a good vehicle but they are super proud of their pricing... and the experience at the local Ford dealerships is lack luster and somewhat insulting. Then there is the Honda CR-V and Toyota Rav-4. Reliable? Sure. Boring, boring, boring. Like having a mini van. I am a 6ft tall, 200lb, 38 year old man who used to think it had to be huge and if it didnt have 350 plus horsepower, dont bother me with it. If your like me and looking for a compact SUV for a job, travel, or for some other reason go and test drive the Tucson Sport 1.6T. Put the vehicle in "sport" mode and punch it. It will surprise you. Points I like so far: - Quick little motor. Got Boost? Yes. Yes it does. - Headroom, headroom, and headroom. - Holy safety features Batman - 19" wheels look nice and set it apart. - Hypnotizing LED lighting. - Transmission shifts are like a magic trick. - Wife likes it. This of course it the final say all and high point. Give this thing a shot, you wont be disappointed.

This is the biggest piece of junk I have ever bought. I am now going on my 4th fuel pump. The 1st one left me stranded at only 2 weeks old. The last one is only 5 months old and under warranty but now they are telling me its my fault that the fuel pump went out because I got bad gas. so now they want to fix it for 800.00 and no warranty. I will never buy another vehicle from these rude people and they dont stand behind any warranty they give you not to mention I had to replace my tires at 25000 miles, and my arm rest broke. I will tell anyone who listens not to buy a Hynundi its a piece of JUNK!!

  • Stay away from this car! - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

The turbo engine and dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) are downright dangerous. On numerous occasions, when beginning to accelerate, the engine will rev while the car doesnt move for several seconds before the transmission kicks in. Sometimes it never kicks in and you have to put it in "P" and back to "D" to go. Took it back to the dealer, who told us several Tucsons have come back with the same problem. They reset the computers and said dont bring it back. Hyundai is "working on it." Yea, right. Ive complained to everyone who will listen: Hyundai Customer Care, Consumer Reports magazine, Safecar.com, and the state Attorney Generals office. In the meantime, Im warning everyone to stay away from Hyundai.
