This Year's Model Updates:

The Hyundai Tucson is an all-new compact SUV from Hyundai. It rides on the Elantra platform and is intended for buyers who want a smaller package than the midsize Santa Fe.

Pros:
  • Generous warranty, standard ABS and stability control, roomy passenger and cargo space, attractive interior, standard side and head curtain airbags.
Cons:
  • Low horsepower rating, some cheap interior materials here and there.

  • Great SUV - would buy two - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Having been a Pontiac person before buying this SUV I would have never though I would like it as much as I do. I absolutely love my Hyundai Tucson and am seriously thinking about purchasing a second one to replace my sports car.

I absolutely love this car! I bought it almost two years ago and I cant wait to upgrade and get the new Tuscon! The design is sleek and the size is perfect for a family of 4, with a lot of storage space in the back. Ive only had to complete basic maintenance. The interior design isnt a 10, but it serves its purpose. My mother in law drove my car (she travels a lot and gets rental cars fairly often) and she loves my car compared to many others that shes driven.

I spent over a year checking out small SUVs on the Internet. I also test drove many. The Tucson is one great SUV! The quality really surprised me along with the price. All the extras are standard (except a minor few like roof rack rails/sun roof). This makes dealing with the dealer on the price much easier. You really must drive this car before you buy any small SUV. If you do, I think youll be sold!

  • No Problems at all - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

  • 60,000 miles and now my engine just shuts off - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I love my Tucson, and I have not had any issues until I brought it in back in August for its 60,000 mile warranty check up, and Now randomly my engine just shuts off while driving, this is scary. I have read up on many forrums that this is a problem that occurs in the 2005 Tucson. Shouldnt there be a recall???? This is dangerous!

  • Cant Believe I Bought a Hyundai - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Took delivery July 1 and already have 7500 miles. Was a little nervous about buying a Hyundai and for several weeks I was too embarrassed to admit I owned one. Then I realized. This is a great vehicle! Gas mileage is averaging 18- 20 and I do a lot of highway stop and go. Car is tight, no rattles. Engine has good pickup with a nice roar. 6 Disc CD doesnt put out enough volume but will have the dealer check it when I go in. Some luxury touches are missing like auto up and down windows, auto open sunroof, auto dimming rear view mirror, but hell its a Hyundai not a Lexus. Car does have a huge blind spot so you cant just rely on mirrors. All in all a great vehicle and I do highly recommend it.

  • Great Drive - Best Quality and Pricing - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

A very good vehicle. As compared to other SUV/Crossover type vehicles (RAV4, CRV), this one definately outperforms over them all. Hyundai is slowly, but surely and definately improving their image and quality of thier vehicles - and the Tuscon is proof of it.

over all the vehicle is find except to much road noise coming into the vehicle. the car rides nice and makes me less tired when driving long distances. if the vehicle had more less noise coming for out side i can hear the radio more better than to have to turn it up more than like to. but over all the vehicle is great to drive.

  • Its Grrrrrrrrrreat!!!!! - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

This is one SUV that offers a luxury SUV feel with out the luxury SUV price. Great suspension, and gas mileage makes this car a great buy. I have ridden in other expensive SUVs but none compare to the feel of the Tucson. If I had to do it all again I would still go in the same direction.

  • Disappointed - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

Purchased the vehicle two months ago and have put on 10K miles. We are disappointed greatly in the advertised mpg, should avg 26, we currently get under 20 100% highway which is a decrease from mpg at 5K. We also recently test drove a 4 cyl Mazda 3 and found that it had more pick up and smoother transmission than the Tucson. For others comparing SUVs to this vehicle, you may prefer this to a larger SUV, but overall I am disappointed in the engine performance and handling. Does have some nice interior features and shorter length is good for parking in crowded lots. Based on other feedback and reviews, I believe there is an inconsistency in the manufacturing of this vehicle.
