  • Loved it until it became unsafe to drive - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

Leased the vehicle end of May 2016 - fell in love with the style, comfort, features... On July 25, 2016, took vehicle in for hood latch recall with 1332 miles on the vehicle. While at the dealership service center, they performed a software update. This update created the instrument panel too illegible - the instrument cluster was defected. The part was ordered and it was to take 30 days to be delivered. Fortunately, it took 10 days. Picked up the vehicle on 8/4/16 after work, drove less then 1 mile came to a stop light once it turned green the vehicle would not drive. Being in the center lane of the highway with flashers on, on coming vehicles just missed slamming into the rear. Finally got it back to the dealership, they have indicated it is the dual clutch issue. This is very unsafe vehicle to drive since you would not know when it would just stop shifting and driving. Have registered a complaint with Hyundai Motors as the service department does not know when the vehicle will be repaired. Thank the Lord no one was killed this time! Now I feel this car is unsafe to own. I have a case started with Hyundai Motor Corp. Will see if they stand by their warranties and safety policy!

  • Bought and did not plan on purchasing new vehicle - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

I had a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe with only 24,000 miles on it. I took my mother shopping for a new crossover SUV that had to have AWD. We looked at Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Subaru Forrester and Outback, Ford Escape, and Chevrolet Equinox. For the price, design, comfort and technology features the Hyundai Tucson beat them all. I drove the vehicle and was so impressed with it that I traded in my Santa Fe for the Tucson Sport trim level. My mother bought the ECO trim level. The only issue I have had is that the exterior lights that are to light the front door handle areas when approaching the vehicle with the key fob on me do not work. Hyundai is aware of this issue and they state that they are working to correct it. The 1.6T turbo engine has plenty of power. Sport mode gets the vehicle on the highway fast and passing other vehicles is quick. I drive mostly in ECO mode and get about 24mpg city and 32mpg highway. One note as it pertains to interior/exterior colors: We both wanted the beige interior, yet it only comes in 4 of the exterior colors. My mother wanted the Caribbean blue exterior, yet the interior only came in a black interior. We both bought Tucsons with the Ruby Wine exterior. I wanted leather interior, yet it only comes in the Tucsons Limited trim level. For what the price is for the Limited trim level, it is almost priced like a similar trim level on a Santa Fe (I.E. The Tucson Limited is overpriced.)

  • Warranty? What good is it? - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

I purchased the car in August 2015. A/C did not work properly but technician could find nothing wrong with it. After winter had NO a/c. Car was in shop for 11 days; they couldnt fix it so finally installed a new system. So far so good. Carried it in for oil change June 23, 2016. They managed to blow the cluster panel so Im still driving (7/11/16) a used car not comparable to mine. It has now been in shop for 18 days for this repair and they have no idea when it will be ready. Im paying a new car payment driving pretty much a wreck. Cant give it a better rating since it has been in repair 30 days so far out of the less than 11 months Ive had it. Its bad points outweigh what I thought would be a great reliable selection. I contacted manufacturer and have received no response at all from hqtrs. Im devastated! Worst auto experience Ive ever had!

  • CUV sport 1.6 L turbo....very nice - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

This car is based on my latest two purchases...I had a 2013 dodge nitro and and a 2014 mazda cx5...the hyundai tucson sport is the most fun to ride and most fuel efficient combined of the three. Its seems wider and longer than the Mazda cx5....and looks more sporty and feels more rugged yet quiet....its a sexy car. I have no regrets other than pushing more for the ultimate limited package...which I will go for next time.

  • update to my previous review: SamboPA - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

so my previous review was very positive and I said I would comment once I drove the car more... I still like the car but have found a few small issues with the car: the light in the cargo area is very small weak and totally offset to the left when I am off roads and in the middle of nowhere it is very pitch black back there... I agree the automatic lift gate is pretty slow - so be it.... the wiring for the approach lighting is not even installed on the car, Hyundai assures me they will fix this in good time.... the glove compartment has no lock on it (this is obvious but I overlooked it) Finally I am still not used to the shifting when the car is under 40 MPH it has a hair trigger gas pedal and I feel it shifts too much under 40MPH..... also sensitive breaks - both I think will improve once I drive the car more - my insurance has one of those little computers that records everything to try to give me a discount and I am getting tons of hits for fast acceleration and hard breaking and I am truly doing everything I can to NOT do this but it keeps happening.....doesnt help I am still driving my old car every other day and I have to actually push on the gas or break to get results...also reading the maintenance schedule has me concerned about the 4WD but Hyundai people say no thats only for heavy constant off road use - I hope they are right. I hope wear and tear holds up on this smaller but powerful turbo engine and "dry" dual clutch transmission...the fuel economy seems to be holding true but I have no long highway trips yet....feedback from friends and total strangers is positive they seem mesmerized by the wheels and shape/style asking what is that - obviously it looks more like a Santa fee and I have had some people this it is in Infinity or MazdaCX5 or a few others and they get VERY upset and argue with me when I say it is a Tucson and they say that have "glued" the Tucson emblem on the back of the car......

  • FRONT SEAT SO UNCOMFORTABLE..WONT DO A THING! - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

For such a new 2016 car the front seat is so uncomfortable and went to the dealer 3xs and they wouldnt do a thing except tell me to buy a cushion...That would get in the way of the heated and A/C seat that I paid for? And Hundai themselves only noted this and so far wont do a thing??? So I am to drive for years and be uncomfortable after paying so much?? That is not a good company if you ask me!

  • Drive it like you would on your test drive! - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

On your test drive do all the things you would during your normal driving... punch it, test all the modes, parallel park it. I wish i would have done that as it has some strange things that it will do on its own.... from a dead stop the rpms will drop when you are on the brake and when you let off alittle bit the rpms will jump and the car will lurch forward on its own making it very hard to park in a tight spot....i have a small garage and have to inch in and it always almost hits my other car in front....i hope this is a fixable issue as it very annoying....has alot of turbo lag and seems confused as how to shift off the line or when you need to overtake someone on the freeway.....seems like i have to drive around the quarks that it has and so far have not be able to get used to them because it is so random....maybe its just the one i have but after reading the other reviews it seems that alot of other people are experiencing the same issues....other than that its a sexy style and has alot of potential....hopefully for me this will be fixable with Hyundai....because accelerating on its own is not safe!!....will update if it is fixable or not..... UPDATE... well after seeing the dealer and doing the Ecu update and talking to the tech....this is just the nature of the dual clutch transmission....think of it as if you were driving a stick and had to use a clutch...it does this automatically from a dead stop to a slow roll and will cause it to have a pause during a hard acceleration .....WISH they would have told me this during my test drive!!...which is hard to tell during normal driving until you have to park or coast really slow.....so we are going to have to just deal with it....ill be surely getting rid of this tucson as quickly as a option comes my way....good luck everybody....

  • SAME AS OTHERS COMPLAINTS - - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

Unsafe Acceleration and transmission issues - My wife and I love the new redesign and amenities in this car however the DCT transmission is new for the Tucson. I am hopeful that a software recall is coming soon which would resolve these issues. My wife had a major scare with our 2 year old in the car when she tried to accelerate from a stop to make a turn at a busy intersection only to find the car would not even move. She got it in gear by switching it to manual and was able to go. If Hyundai does not resolve this soon, this could become a class action lawsuit especially if there are any fatalities because of these issues. I already contacted the Motor Company with my concerns but have not heard back as of yet. Update as of 1/30/16: The Motor Company has made contact and a rep along with a field engineer will meet us at the dealer on Monday 2/1. Update as of 3/5/16 The Motor Company has changed out the TCU (Transmission Control Unit). We are still having the same issues. The car has been with the dealer for 5 weeks now. The latest update is that they are putting in a new transmission. We had this car for 5 months now. Out of the 5 months, the car has been at the dealer for 7 weeks. We have been in a loaner car since.

  • 4th Hyundai - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

This is my 4th Hyundai, 1 Sonata and I just bought my 3rd Tuscon Limited. There is a reason for that. Most people only write reviews when they have something to complain about, not many write when everything is good! When a company sells thousands of vehicles and you get less that 100 complaints, Thats pretty good! Most of the people that complain are chronic complainers. I know first hand. I owned a couple ice cream stores, youd be surprised of the frequency of chronic complainers. Anyways.....Back to the review. With all the Hyundais I have owned. The only things I have had to replace were tires and windshield wipers. Thats it. They have been great and I for one WILL continue to buy them.
