Model Overview:

A compact crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson is aimed at buyers seeking the tall ride height and cargo convenience of a utility vehicle in a small, affordable package. Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Tucson has always offered a generous list of standard equipment and a lengthy warranty.

Although early versions of this Hyundai crossover have a decidedly budget feel, 2010 and later Tucsons have distinctive exterior styling and a slick interior to match. Acceleration and handling are also much better on the newer models, and fuel economy is significantly improved. Recent Tucson models are worth consideration if you're shopping for a used small crossover.

I bought this vehicle about 4 months ago. Traded in Lexus RX300. Compared to what is offered on the Tucson and the new Lexus(which is about $15,000 more) i am very satisfied with the Tucson. It really fits our needs

  • First Week-First Impressions - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Just bought my LX last week. First week impressions of fit and finish are excellent. Everybody who has ridden in it are very surprised by the quality of the workmanship (they remember the early Hyundai days in the US). Looked at the Ford Escape, but it drove like a truck and had the interior of a truck. It lacked the standard safety features of the Tucson and was only so-so to drive. Not done a long trip yet, but commuting in it has been a real pleasure. I go the Alpine Mist (aka green) and it is a very sharp color.

  • Good Value-Weak Engine - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON

I like everything about this vehicle except the engine- I bought it for the overall value (safety especially-air bags/stability control, etc.) and I am very satisfied- got the V6 for more performance but its still weak and only 20mpg- Its still a good value vs. competitors.

  • Power windows - 2007 Hyundai TUCSON

Overall I have enjoyed the car. I get lots of compliments. Just this last week my power windows stop working. The dealership has had my car for 5 days and can not figure out why the fuse keeps blowing. The dealership says they have been in constant contact with Hyundai headquarters and still cant figure it out. I love the car hope they figure it out soon.

I just returned from a trip to Washington, DC, 3.5 hours and 210 miles. The Tucson was a very comfortable ride and got suprisingly good gas mileage (24 mpg) at 65-75 mph. Around town, the mileage drops off to 17 mpg with stop and go driving. The cargo area with the seats folded down is big enough for most uses, we just carried an antique dresser and mirror with plenty of room to spare. It was excellent in the 16" of snow we had in January, the day after I took delivery. Im very pleased with the Tucson so far, now lets see how reliable it is.

  • Thirsty - very thirsty - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Gas mileage STINKS!!! Getting 12 MPG on a car that was supposed to give me 20 according to the window sticker. Been back 3 times. They dont know why or what to do. If I wanted a car that got such poor mileage, I would have bought a much larger SUV. I love the look of the car but thats where it ends. Standard radio could be better. Sorry I didnt upgrade it.

  • Late Bloomer! Good Vehicle! - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON

I was looking at cargo space when I bought it new. The 2.0 L 4cyl 4WD Man. Transmission was not exactly what I wanted at first. The vehicle was really underpowered when new. I changed the oil with full synthetic & changed the air filter waiting for some change in power. At 25k miles, the engine started to change for the better. It loosened up and had enough power to get on the freeway and pull a trailer. My friends & I are impressed. I really enjoy driving it now and use it daily. The Dealer Shop has been good at checking it out and supplying parts. I like to work on it myself changing the oil & perform light maintenance checks. Friends with other SUVs like mine for its size and performance.
