Model Overview:

A compact crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson is aimed at buyers seeking the tall ride height and cargo convenience of a utility vehicle in a small, affordable package. Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Tucson has always offered a generous list of standard equipment and a lengthy warranty.

Although early versions of this Hyundai crossover have a decidedly budget feel, 2010 and later Tucsons have distinctive exterior styling and a slick interior to match. Acceleration and handling are also much better on the newer models, and fuel economy is significantly improved. Recent Tucson models are worth consideration if you're shopping for a used small crossover.

  • I Love this ride!! - 2008 Hyundai TUCSON

Although I have had it for a few weeks I love this ride! My previous relationship was a Hyundai (Elantra) and that alone convinced me that this was a firm purchase and solid vehicle. I love the way it handles and the space on the inside. Any compact car owner could transition comfortably into this vehicle. I am trying to convince my husband to get the Santa Fe which is the 2nd gen of the Tucson. I am totally in love with this vehicle!!

  • Best Small SUV - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I did months of research for a new(my 1st!)vehicle to suit my needs and considered these factors- Price,Safety, decent cargo room,reliability/quality,snow/rain handling, good MPG,& looks. I tried the CR-V,Escape,Rav-4,Prius,Vibe & Matrix & Murano among others. The V6 GLS Tucson was the clear standout. I would recommend it.I LOVE IT

  • Not so bad for a low-end compact SUV - 2011 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

This is the third Hyundai I have purchased. So far, it is great. Would love the electric drivers seat though. Has a rattle in the rear door, may be the license plate bracket, still havent figured out where it is coming from yet. Not a big deal. Fuel economy is from 16.5 to 19.1. Hot summer here so using AC all the time, plus city driving mainly. Has under 700 miles on it but I really enjoy driving it. AC seems to run warm on occasion. Had five people in it and drove nicely, still had ample acceleration.

  • More to be desired. - 2011 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

Drove this vehicle for over 3 years and purchased new. Began to notice problems right away. Bouncy ride, felt more on second row seating. Fuel economy MPG numbers far from advertised. Small fuel tank 13gal equals short range. Annoying Rattle noise coming from trunk, noisy shocks. AC fan replaced at 17k miles because of high pitch noise. Low pressure tire sensor failed. Fan speed choices not adequate, its either too high or too low. Driver and passenger seat too narrow.

  • Value for Money - 2011 Hyundai TUCSON

I bought a diamond silver Tucson 2011 about two weeks ago, trading in a Toyota Corolla 2002. The first few days I really had to get used to the Tucson. Wasnt sure about the ride, the design and the color, coming from driving a sedan. But now I really like the car. Unfortunately, the mileage is not as expected and I miss several storage pockets. But certainly looking forward to the heated seats and mirrors for winter.

  • LOVE MY TUCSON - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I took my 2001 Hyundai Elantra to the dealership for oil change, tune up, etc. I left with a 2005 Hyundai Tucson. I absolutely love this car. I love the look, the style, the interior. This car is my baby. One week after I bought it my best friends husband backed in to the front bumper and SMASHED it all in. Did $1200 work of just cosmetic damage. Good thing is the engine is placed far enough back that it didnt touch it, bad thing is the bumper really CRUMBLED. I was only parked 5 feet away from him and it did that much damage. Hard to get parts in for this car right now b/c its so new (took 2 weeks to get front bumper)....SO DONT WRECK THEM!!!

  • The Buzzing Tucson-We Cant Hear It - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

My Tucson has been a nightmare since I bought it. Within the first thousand miles,I noticed a loud buzzing/whirring sound from the engine. At idle it was very annoying. I took it back to the dealer on two occaisions and was told:"We cant hear anything like you describe". I even requested that a new Tucson be started alongside my Tucson for comparison. The difference was dramatic but I got the same response:"No difference here!". I tokk the SUV to an independent mechanic who used a stethescope and made a diagnosis of a timing belt problem. The dealer refused the diagnosis of course and basically said:Youll get that". Not worth the hassle of going through customer service.

  • 15,000 mile follow-up - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

I already reviewed (see below) right after purchase; heres my 15,000 mile update: Fuel economy is all the way up to 20.8 mpg with the 4WD V6. Pleasantly surprised with this, because I drive up and over a 9,000 foot mountain 2x a day and didnt expect the gas mileage to be this high after reading all the reviews. Ive had zero problems with the vehicle, havent had to go to the dealership for anything. Would still definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a safe (5-star crash ratings front & side), inexpensive 4WD with a great warranty. And its not killing me at the pump, either. From a guy who spends 2 hours commuting every day in the worst conditions imaginable: 2 thumbs up.

  • Hesitate - BUT Love My Purchase - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

Even though Hyundai has come a long way, I was a little hesitate to go to the dealership to look. Once I looked, I was sold on it. Took car to the mountains, and it climbed those hills like a champ. I have had no problems at all. Sure I would like better gas mileage but this is a 6 cycle SUV. Cant have both. Would definitely recommend to everyone. Love the warranty and extended warranty. Im covered for 10 yrs 100,000 miles bumper to bumper and have free oil and filter changes for 3 years from the dealership. Im sitting pretty on the maintenance!
