The Hyundai Tucson is an all-new compact SUV from Hyundai. It rides on the Elantra platform and is intended for buyers who want a smaller package than the midsize Santa Fe.

Pros:
  • Generous warranty, standard ABS and stability control, roomy passenger and cargo space, attractive interior, standard side and head curtain airbags.
Cons:
  • Low horsepower rating, some cheap interior materials here and there.

  • Hyundai Tucson: The Most Bang for the $ - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

This vehicle is a far better deal than any of its competition (e.g., Ford Escape; Honda CRV and Element; Toyota RAV4 and Mitsubishi Outlander) because of all of its standard safety and driveline features, many of which are not even offered as options by the competition. Try to build a Honda CRV or RAV4 that has all (or even most) of the standard features of the Tucson and you are looking at a purchase price of at least $5,000 more! I know: I priced the three of them at local dealerships. The second reason why I love this vehicle is the very high quality of its construction. All of the fitments are like those in a Lexus: they click and thunk with the right sounds, and look great, too.

Whats this poor gas mileage? Got 26.3 mpg on the first trip of 320 miles! Sound system is great - cruise control is tight and the ride is solid. Its just fun to drive and Ive been doing that for over 45 years. What used to be extras are included - heated outside mirrors, fog lights...and what a warranty that includes roadside assistance. Seems impossible to beat or even come close!

  • Tuscon - Good Mileage, Interior Room - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I drove my 4 Cyl 5 Speed Tuscon 8000 miles from the NY to Oregon and back. Over the trip I averaged 26 MPG (70+ MPH on most thruways). I also found that wind resistance is a major contributor to the mileage. I got much better mileage in the high altitude states of Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana than in the lower altitude states. I also am very suspicious of ethanol because when I used it in Iowa and Nebraska I got by far my worst mileage (22 MPG). I am very satisfied with my Tuscon in most respects. I found that the odometer is off by 3% (you have driven 3% further than it says, so my milage was actually 26.8 MPG). I also am not happy that two levels of my wiper intermitent settings no delay.

  • Love this SUV - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

This is a great truck. It meets my needs for something fun to drive, comfortable, and with a good basic sound system. It meets my husbands needs for something that looks "rugged" that can handle hauling all of our camping equipment for our trips to the North Shore. It handled great through the MN winter and is a fun truck to zip around in.

Really wonderful vehicle to own with an excellent driving experience. Dealer ready to discuss pricing and very comfortable buying experience. Awesome features. Atleast 4-5K more on any other brand model. Wonderful warranty. Must check out if in market for a compact SUV. I am getting a mileage of 26-27 miles a gallon.

  • Best little SUV Ive Ever Had - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

I have had larger SUVs and sedans and this is the best car I have had. It is great around town and for those trips to Home Depot or the Vet with my dogs, all the seats fold down.On the highway it is a joy with a large windshield to see and the height of other large SUVs . I cant see how the Sante Fe would be bigger because the layout and extra details in the Tucson are so great. Plus curtain airbags and ESB stablizer to help with over correction makes me feel so safe. The only draw back is the gas mileage is a little les than they promise , but I still drive for about 2 weeks on a tank. This is a great car!!!

  • WHAT a Car! - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Ive owned my Tucscon just a little over a year and absolutely love it for so many reasons...1) its comfortable; 2) its storage - thats AMAZING...it is like an optical illusion, so much can fit into that car with the seats down, its unbelieveable. This is my second Hyundai and while I initally bought for value, I will continue to purchase cars by this manufacturer because my experience have been nothing but positive!

It is my first car. It is fun to drive. The engine is not powerful enough, anyway, it is 2.0L.

After looking at every small and midsize suv out there, I found the Tucson by accident. I went to look at the Santa Fe, and saw the Tucson. I didnt need to drive it off the parking lot and knew it was the one I wanted. I have been estatic with this purchase. What a vehicle for the money. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Has great pick up, no outside noise when windows are up and driving 55 mph. Has best headroom I have come across, even better then the exployer which I have also owned. Best purchase I have made.
