This is my second Hyundai I sold my 2008 Santa Fe because I wanted all the toys This cat has it all and then some. This review is for the top of the line Limited with the Ultimate Package. Love the 7 speed dual clutch transmission. The engine has great acceleration in sport mode. Sound great too. Huge Panoramic Roof.

  • Turbo Terror - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

I recently leased a Tucson Limited. --This SUV looks nice from a stand still view. However the TURBO -CHARGER is a terror. When I try to get on a busy hi-speed highway and merge into traffic . the TURBO Charger -/engine all but stops. and I get left sitting in a hi-speed lane with NO POWER. This has happened several times both to MY WIFE and I. It has been back at the dealer for several days . no fix yet. Stay away from this vehicle

When I first purchased the vehicle I noticed a significant delay between pressing on the gas pedal and acceleration. Within one week of driving the Tuscon I was almost in an accident because the SUV was slow to respond through an intersection. I reported this to the dealer and was informed by one of his technicians that there was a recall and a software update was needed. The update was only moderately successful. The transmission is unpredictable in how it responds to steep hills, sporadically jerky, and still, at times, slow to accelerate only now its inconsistency keeps you sweating it out at busy intersections. Every passenger that has been in this vehicle has commented on it. Ive talked to the technician and he told me this is the nature of a dual clutch transmission but he would look at it. I have told the owner of the Hyundai dealership on two occasions that I believe this vehicle is unsafe and should not be on the road.

  • Same problems as everyone else - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

Nothing else matters here, except the transmission issues. If you live anywhere where you might actually have to pull out quickly at any point, dont go near this vehicle. We had the 8/11/2016 "new" update done at the dealership, and we were holding out hope that would take care of our issues. Well, my wife just called me this morning - stepped on the gas to make a left turn, and the car just herked and jerked and just wouldnt get going. And today isnt one of the 95 degree days with the A/C cranking and you step on the gas and nothing happens for 1-2 seconds. 55 degrees this morning. You could give me this car for free today and I wouldnt take it. Starting down the road of heading to the dealership again

Fuel Economy - EPA rating and actual ratings are correct. I received 23.5mph city, a little less in sport and regular modes. Performance - Acceleration, Braking, Road Holding, Shifting, Steering I tested all modes of performance and found none lacking in performance. Some people complain about power but I found that using the proper mode for what you want the car to do resolves all issues. Comfort - Front and Rear Seats - At first I though the seats were a little uncomfortable but they are ok once you get used to them after all you used to your old cars seats. Getting In and out - I had no problems and did not have to use the handles at the top of the door. Comfort getting in and out all depends on your size on any car. That said my friends range in height from 56" to over 6 and they all had no problems. Noise, Vibration, ride and comfort - The car is great I tested it over rail road tracks, uneven surfaces, pot holes. All bumps were absorbed very well. Noise was minimal compared to other more expensive SUVs. Interior - Here is where personal choice comes in. Cargo/Storage- Lets face it this is not a full size SUV but for the size it is great. I put a medium size dog kennel in it and still was able to put up one of the rear car seats. That left 1 passenger in the rear and a lot of space behind the kennel. Instrumentation - Once you get used to the different control modes it is fantastic. Interior Design - No complaints everything is easy to reach. It would be nicer if the center console was just a little bigger but I am being picky. Logic of Controls - Everything is easy to get to. If I had a suggestion it would be to move the transmission mode switch to the dash board, if it were possible to put it on the steering wheel that would make it amazing. Quality of materials - Some reviews said it had a lot of hard plastic and that is true but for me the car was fine. Safety - As far as I know everything is great. Technology - Fantastic but it depends on what you want. For me having the radio, blue tooth phone, cruise on the steering wheel is great. The blue tooth phone mode sounds great on both ends. The regular display size is also good. The sound system is good for most people again a mater of taste. USB ports are in a perfect place. Climate control on SE in manual and works as designed. Reliability - It is really to early for me to tell. But based on all the reviews the 2.0 with the regular automatic transmission is much better than the 1.6 dual clutch automatic transmission. Dealer ship support - My dealer is wonderful but again this depends on who you get the car from. One of the dealers 20 miles away I would never go to. Value - Fuel economy is great compared to full size SUV and other models of this size. Maintenance Cost - To early to tell, depends on were you get your car serviced. I tend to things myself or use a local mechanic I know. Some things like rotating tires and break checks can be obtained free by having a credit card at places like Firestone. Purchase price - Excellent when compared to other companies with the same options. Knowing how to negotiate very well can save you thousands. Warranty - Best warranty I found. I also purchased the Portfolio warranty that turned it into a 10 year/100,000 warranty for almost everything but wear and tear items because I will be having the car for at least that long (my last car had 174,000 on it and was 16 years old, (they do not make them like that anymore).

  • The Tucson is a great buy, but its not perfect. - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

Im not going to go into detail about the Tucson because there are a ton of reviews both written and video via YouTube that you can reference. In the past, Ive owned primarily sporty cars so my driving experience is measured against driving those types of vehicles. This is my first CUV and I purchased it because I recently moved to Denver and I needed something to navigate the inclement weather. Overall impressions are that I am very satisfied with my purchase. The ride is comfortable and the handling and acceleration are better than I expected. I really like the perforated cooled seats. I gave a ride to some friends and they were impressed by the leather interior and the panoramic sunroof. The vehicle feels more expensive than it is. In short, you get a lot of value for the purchase price. I havent driven it in the snow, but Im confident the AWD with differential lock will perform well. These are the issues I have with the vehicle. First, the media player doesnt decode mp4 audio tracks. M4A was generally intended as the successor to MP3, which had not been originally designed for audio. This means you have to convert an MP4 files to MP3s, which can be time consuming depending on how many you have in your collection. My second issue is the power lift gate. Its slow and if you deactivate the power lift gate option and choose to open and close it manually, you cant open the lift gate from inside the vehicle. Also, Ive locked the vehicle as I was walking away from the vehicle while the lift gate was descending and it stopped midway. It only happened once, but I feel I have to watch it just to make sure it closes. Finally, the Limited trim comes with push button ignition but there isn’t an option to start the vehicle if the battery in the proximity key dies. Other vehicles Ive driven that have push button ignition have a slot to insert the key and start the engine with the key manually. This seems like a huge oversight, but I’m assuming there’s a warning if the battery in the proximity key is low, but Im planning on keeping a spare battery in the glove box as a precaution.

  • Great Crossover SUV for the price - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson is a great overall crossover SUV! I am driving the ECO/AWD/Turbo model for almost a year. The only complaints we have about the Tucson is the feel of the transmission during quick take offs and the headrest.

  • Renting it and loving it! - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

I am currently renting this vehicle and it has been almost perfect. Since its a rental, its the base version, without the turbo or the dual clutch transmission. Just the 2.0L engine and the 6 speed automatic. The weaker engine struggles just a bit in some situations, but I love this car so much, I dont mind. The engine is perfectly fine under normal circumstances, but load the car up with people and stuff and go up an incline and it will feel over-taxed. The steering and handling on this thing is just plain fun. I would not have thought that a simple people mover CUV would be so much fun to drive, but it is. Now, its not a sports car, and it does start to feel a bit unstable at very high freeway speeds (over 90 mph - which traffic sometimes gets to on our Southern California freeways). Emergency maneuvers at highway speeds would probably be a bad idea (my normal car is a Mercedes sedan that is stable at just about any speed). The Tucson is also quite comfortable and roomy, both front and back. The cargo area is a very decent size, but it feels a bit smaller than the official figures. (Actually, I think the way cargo space is calculated gives an unfair advantage to SUVs and CUVs as compared to sedans). The gauges and infotainment features are very good, very informative, and very easy to use, especially considering that this is a base model. Overall, I love this car and can see myself buying it.
