  • Another Tucson that could get someone killed. - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

Purchased car four months ago and loved it until about 3500 miles when the transmission started acting up, at an intersection, step on the gas and car goes nowhere, just like youre in neutral. Took in in to the dealer was told the tranny needed a software update, got it back the next day took it for a long ride in the mountains and guess what happened. Dealer doesnt know how to fix it now, started a case with Hyundai, I am refusing to accept it back from the dealer until it is safe. Got a call from Hyundai a few days ago, they tell me they are working on a fix but it is three to five weeks out, they did however, offer to buy it back. I read the sample buyback letter and it looks like if I accept the offer I will pay for mileage, lose the money paid for gap insurance, and since I was about $1800 upside down in my trade in I will owe that money too, great, I will owe $3000 and have no vehicle. Awesome service for a defective car that could have killed someone. Thanks very much Hyundai, my fifth new Hyundai purchase will be my last.

  • DO NOT BUY!!! - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

I wanted to love this car....but...one week after having it I was on a canyon in California it began overheating. I pulled over as prompted to let it cool down, went to the dealer was told there was nothing wrong must have been a fluke. This morning back on the canyon had to pull over due to my 2016 overheating....back to the dealership and was told it is operator error. Im causing the car to overheat with the stopping and starting...WHAT?? I apply the break when stopped and accelerate when I need to move forward....and that is the cause of this? While the technician was explaining this I began video taping his explanation...he stopped and told me I needed to speak with his manager. The manager told me there was not need to tape the conversation, the car will overheat if its in stop and go traffic and there is nothing they can do about it. "Thats the way Hyundais are made" ......Ummmmmm.....what? This came from the Keyes Hyundai in Van Nuys.

  • Dangerous!! - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

The transmission is unreliable. Have about 3600 miles on my new car and I never know when it wont go into gear! Tried to go into reverse this morning and the car would not move when I stepped on the gas...dangerous! Have had it to the dealer twice about the transmission and they have a canned speal that says it performs like other cars of this year and model (in other words, ALL of them are flawed). Internet says they are working on a software update and Nissan dealer (who services it in my area since there is no Hyundai service dept. available) hinted a software fix is coming. Hope it comes soon and before I get hit or ram into another vehicle due to the flaw in the transmission! My advice: dont but a Hyundai Tuscon until they address this issue!!!!

  • Safety issue-car does not accelerate after stoppin - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

Brand new Hyundai Tucson purchased February 2016. Weather turned hot in June. Car would not accelerate at all after stopping at red lights. Foot on accelerator all the way to the floor. Tachometer reving but car not going. Happened numerous times. Car brought in June 29 and kept by dealer at manufacturers request. Finally contacted by corporate. They state it is a "software"issue in the dual clutch transmission and they now have a fix. Turbo engine has significant lag even for a Turbo. They are still selling 2016 Tucson 1.6 turbos and now 2017 although the fix has not yet been validated and is not ready to install. Those cars at the dealers still have the faulty transmissions and are not safe to drive. If stuck at a light, stop sign, making a left turn, or intersection you run the risk of being hit and having a catastrophic accident because your car esssentially is not in gear and cannot accelerate forward. You are a sitting duck!

  • Unsafe and terrible customer service - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

Ive been leasing this car for about 2 months and the brand new car shut off on me randomly twice! First time it shut off I had to pick my toddler up from daycare that is 40 min away and they told me they will come in about an hour and half to tow my car and they will not give me a loaner or anything g to replace the vehicle while being looked at while my toddlers school closed and they are waiting for me to grab him I kept trying to start the car in a panic and 2 hours later befornethentow trick got to me the car started and I rushed to get him. The next day took the car to get looked at at Paramus Hyundai service center and spent the whole day there with my baby for them to tell me my car is fine and told me I gotta go that they are closing, meanwhile I tell them I do not feel safe driving with my baby in a car that shuts off with no warnings in middle of the road and I want a loaner and this car looked at more to find the problem they said no and thats not their problem. Following week sure enough the car shuts off again at 8pm in middle of the road with my dogs and baby in the car and this time it never went back on, cops stopped the traffic moved the car off road and when I called the sos they told me they cannot tow the car because the service center is closed and they cant get permission to part the car there... So we walked home from that area about a 15-20 min walk at around 10pm I had to drag the baby back with me early morning to tow the car and sit at the crevice center all day with my poor son crying and eventually that place brought me to tears, having me there all day not tellin me anything till the very end of the day giving me a lot of problems about giving me a loaner car and only "pulling some string and giving me a car seeing that Im stuck there with a fed up toddler. No one helping me no one cared the first time it broke, now I do not feel safe in this car I also want money back from the time I spent without a working car I pay so much money for for for my time lost sitting on the phone and being transferred from person to person to tell me they cannot help me, calling corporate for them to transfer me from person to person for an hour me explains my issues over and over again to different people for them to tell me someone will call me that can help me in 3-5 business days!!! Are they crazy?! I dont want this car I dont want to deal with anyone from Hyundai anymore!!!!!! Im fed up my family is fed up I have never had so many problems with a car or with customer service as I do with this Hyundai Tucson limited! Im disgusted with the way I have bk even treated and I cannot believe Im still in this unsafe car that supposedly was fixed, a car that shuts off like this after 2 months of driving it brand new is not a safe car and is not worth $466 a month!

  • Should have had me at hello. - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

The looks are what get you to the dealership right? In its market space, the redesigned Tucson is sleeker than everything else. The exterior looks futuristic without being over the top. The interior is wonderfully laid out and minus being unable to get my seat JUST right (the headrests are simply odd) and maybe a few too many blind spots, it is knockdown awesome. But then you drive it. During the test drive you can feel a bit of sluggishness coming off the line, and you are reminded by the salesperson that this car comes with a fancy "dual clutch transmission". So you think, "well, brand new car, probably something I can get used to". But you cant get used to it. You cant get used to driving a stick without it being a stick. You cannot get used to the rules having a dual clutch transmission comes with ("dont creep up on the car in front of you in traffic, wait until there is some space and then pull forward". Seriously?). But you bought it and you just think that over time everything will be ok. And then comes the gear stalls. When you are in first gear and the DCT doesnt engage second gear, but the computer thinks it did so now your in some odd wonderland between first and second, sort of gliding (or stalling is more like it). And if you stomp on the accelerator, nothing happens....youve got to "tap, tap tap" the gas pedal and get third gear to engaged. And after you shut the car off for a bit and come back, its like nothing ever happened and the dealership just claims ignorance. Its really unfortunate to lose as much money as I will when I offload this and go to something else, but I feel less and less safe every time I drive it.

  • My First Real Lemon - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

I am very disappointed in the 2016 Hyundai Tucson Limited. My main concern is the acceleration issue particularly when one needs to make a left turn within an intersection or simply escape an unforeseen incident. I purchased the car new in May 2016 so there usually isnt any cause for alarm from a new car however this problem is such a cause. I have been driving it back and forth to work and traveling long distances for recreation so I have put it to the test. Yet, I am not happy, to say the least, that my car balks upon pressing the gas pedal from a stopped position. I am placing a compliant with my dealership but more importantly, I will contact the area manager to file my compliant. This is really a safety manner as I do not feel safe when I am placing myself at risk by possibly having an accident as a result of the cars poor construction.

  • Dont waist your money - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

Ive had the car a year and on my second service they replaced a part in my transmission. I asked why and they made it sound like a recall part, but it wasnt I found out. This is when the problems started. The car once warmed up and I come to a stop in drive position it would feel like someone was push on the car from outside, and making a rumbling that seemed like it was going to stall. I have taken in three time to have fixed with no help. Since my car has no lights indicating a issue my dealer or Consumer affairs Hyundai would help. I told the dealer to reverse whatever it was they did, but they said they couldnt. Besides this the car shifts all over the place and jerks you around its horrible and engine sounds terrible. The cloth interior is horrible I have white stain marks everywhere on my black cloth. If you get water or any kind of moistness on interior it stains. the only way to get fix is shampooing the car seats which is expensive. Lots of plastic and falling apart already. Im really depressed because I have always had used cars and problems and finally bought a new car so I wont have to deal with issues and here I am again. I will be turning car into Lemon law attorney to take care of since no one can seem to fix. Also, I meet a girl with same car and same issues. These cars should be completely recalled they should not be allowed out on the road.

  • No acceleration! - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

The car does not accelerate when you press on the gas. There is a tremendous lag time, which has resulted in serious safety concerns for me and my family. Im told its due to its "dual clutch" (which recently had a recall...the fix did nothing). Regardless of the reason, its not safe and I do not want it. Hoping to trade it in tomorrow.

  • This car is unsafe to drive - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

I test drove this car righ after this model arrived at my local dealership. Liked everything about the car except one fatal flow - the DCT transmission failed to move the car from the intersection when the light changed to green for about 5 seconds after I depressed the pedal. The dealer made an awkward attempt to convey that this is normal for this transamission type. I turned around, drove back to the dealeship and parted our ways. If I ever drive this car agin - I would like to invite the company management family members for a ride along and see if they value the lives of their loved once the same way they value the lives of their customers. Please stay away from this car - it may get you killed.
