  • If you have bought it yet PLEASE DONT! Horrible - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

As of September 25, 2015 I own a 2016 Tucson ECO model. Within one yes ONE week of buying it the gear shifter got stuck,. My car would NOT shift to reverse neutral, Drive etc. After several attempts I got it to go and took it to the dealer. They switched out the shifter for a new one (should have been a red flag at the time that it had to do with the transmission). In Jan 2016, at only 3,000 miles the car started jerking while stopped for over 2 minutes. It was pulling back and forth like if it wanted to continue to go, I took it back to the dealer and they suggested i tried higher grade gas. I tried switching up the gas I used and the problem continued. I took the car is a 3rd time, and this time they claimed it was a computer issue so they reset the computer and I once again drove off, WITH A VEHICLE THAT STILL MALFUNCTIONED. Finally, I took it in a 4th and last time before the determined the issue is the transmission and it needs to be replaced. When have you heard of a NEW vehicle needing a transmission replaced at only 4,000 miles???? Please save yourself the headache and DO NOT buy this Tucson!

In March of 2016, I purchased a Hyundai Tuscon Limited with a 1.7L Turbo and dual-clutch automatic transmission. About a month later, when accelerating, the engine would rev, but the car would not move. Very dangerous in traffic! Took it back to dealer. Told they were aware of the problem - called "false neutral" - and Hyundai was "working on it." Told me to take it home and not come back until I heard from them. Needless to say, it kept doing it, making driving pretty scary. Reached out to Hyundai Customer Care. After several weeks, they finally called me back. Told me to take it back to the dealer, leave it, and I would be provided a rental. The dealer told me it could be weeks, or even months, before I get it back. Im driving a basic rental car while my $31,000 Tuscon sits collecting dust.

  • Dangerous and done with Hyundai - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

Dangerous car. I bought a 2016 Tucson and after owning a 2012 Tucson and New Genesis I thought this was a Quality product. Not so with this vehicle. Transmission would not go in gear when I stopped at lights or would slow down to 20 mph on the open road. Very dangerous. There is no fix at this point. The dealer who was great changed the clutch actuator and it worked for a month. After almost getting hit by a truck I decided I had enough of Hyundai pretending they never heard of this while there are hundreds of owners on the web complaining that they can not drive their cars, I decided to take a loss and traded it in on another brand of vehicle. I guess corporate profits over customer safety.

  • Buyer beware! - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

This car is not safe. Dual clutch transmission will end up hurting somebody. Vehicle will unexpectedly stall and put people/families in danger. Dealerships are not able to respond to customers. Not an isolated problem (see reviews). How is there not a recall on this vehicle? Vehicle is currently at dealership (shop)...I dont expect it back anytime soon. I really hope my dealership steps up and takes care of this....looking at a Subaru Outback.

  • Major problems with my Tuscon - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

Currently the 2016 Tuscon is having major problems and Hyundai cant seem to put its finger on what to do or how to comfort those that bought this lemon. I took my Tuscon in after owning it for a month because the car didnt seem to know when to shift into the next gear. They told me it needed a system update and immediately after the update the car was shuttering when you come to a stop. Literally, the car starts vibrating and jerks back and forth as if it wants to move while your foots holding down the brake. Long story short, after talking to 2 different dealerships and customer service and corporate I was told to live with it. That they have no answer to the problem, no idea when it can be fixed and that it may be how the car is supposed to drive. I was livid, I couldnt believe what the guy from Cororate said over the phone. And this came out of Corporate. At that moment I lost all faith in HYundai and I knew I would never again own a Hyundai. Please, please, please do not buy the 2016 Tuscon until this problem is fixed. I am in the process of selling mine as soon as I can. And remember Hyundai may have the best warranty and that may be because they need the best warranty because this vehicle is awful to drive.

  • Jerky Trans - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

It is hazardous to drive this car. There are several issues occurring. The transmission is jerky, hesitates and some times the vehicle comes to a complete stop and will not move, after shuddering and pulling forward. The car does not even have 5000 miles on it. The interior lights flicker on and off. The A/C acts as if it is about to go out. There are times when it seems as if the AC is not even on. The carpet is super thin. I noticed this because a piece is missing and it is a very thin layer that seems to sit on a piece of cardboard. It is too scary to drive it. You have no clue when the car is going to "decide" to come to a complete stop. It always seem to happen when you are on the interstate or when traffic is heavy. It is as if you are risking your life each and every time you drive the car. The Bluelink - car assurance - that comes with the vehicle is not trustworthy. You are "supposed" to get a report when something is not functioning as it should. However each and every time that I have had a problem, Bluelink has not detected this problem. The dealership also cannot get the vehicle to replicate any of the problems so they dont consider there to be any problems. In the mean time you still have to pay for a car this is really worthless.

  • Loved it until it became unsafe to drive - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

Leased the vehicle end of May 2016 - fell in love with the style, comfort, features... On July 25, 2016, took vehicle in for hood latch recall with 1332 miles on the vehicle. While at the dealership service center, they performed a software update. This update created the instrument panel too illegible - the instrument cluster was defected. The part was ordered and it was to take 30 days to be delivered. Fortunately, it took 10 days. Picked up the vehicle on 8/4/16 after work, drove less then 1 mile came to a stop light once it turned green the vehicle would not drive. Being in the center lane of the highway with flashers on, on coming vehicles just missed slamming into the rear. Finally got it back to the dealership, they have indicated it is the dual clutch issue. This is very unsafe vehicle to drive since you would not know when it would just stop shifting and driving. Have registered a complaint with Hyundai Motors as the service department does not know when the vehicle will be repaired. Thank the Lord no one was killed this time! Now I feel this car is unsafe to own. I have a case started with Hyundai Motor Corp. Will see if they stand by their warranties and safety policy!

  • Warranty? What good is it? - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

I purchased the car in August 2015. A/C did not work properly but technician could find nothing wrong with it. After winter had NO a/c. Car was in shop for 11 days; they couldnt fix it so finally installed a new system. So far so good. Carried it in for oil change June 23, 2016. They managed to blow the cluster panel so Im still driving (7/11/16) a used car not comparable to mine. It has now been in shop for 18 days for this repair and they have no idea when it will be ready. Im paying a new car payment driving pretty much a wreck. Cant give it a better rating since it has been in repair 30 days so far out of the less than 11 months Ive had it. Its bad points outweigh what I thought would be a great reliable selection. I contacted manufacturer and have received no response at all from hqtrs. Im devastated! Worst auto experience Ive ever had!

The DCT is an accident waiting to happen. There are reviews about the transmission on NHTSA, Hyundai Forum, and other web sites. It only took one time to happen to my wife that I decided to get rid of this car. As expected, dealer couldnt replicate the problem (because it is a design flaw that needs to be addressed by Hyundai). Decided it was too unsafe to drive off the dealer lot. With only 3700 miles on it, decided to trade it in on a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. Had 2 Santa Fes before with no problem.
