One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. Love this vehicle- two year second owner - 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Dan - April 12 - 6:20 amI gave a lower reliability score because a front seal Transfer seal setn out and led to having to replace the casing, not a cheap fix. Im second owner to the warranty was not valid for me but the dealer/manufacture kicked in for a third of the cost. I dont understand the lower ratings on "performance" but my 2.6 v6 really gets with it when merging into a fast freeway on ramp. It is really fast which surprised me on the test drive for an SUV. This vehicle has 8o,ooo on it when I bought it and the previous owners had kept really good care of this rig, it was like new and still is and, unlike the new models it still had the combo CD/cassette radio and a rear window that opens (love it).

My current car was less than 3 years old but after a few test drives in the Santa Fe, I sold my car and bought the Santa Fe. People still come up to me to ask about it. Ilove it.

By mark613 - April 8 - 6:20 amI bought the base model and this thing has everything I need. This is the first Hyundai I ever drove or owned and I am very impressed and pleased thus far. The dash is nicely laid out and has all the features you really need. The defroster works extremely well and the blue tooth was easy to set up. Im averaging 27.1 mpg. I would highly recommend this vehicle.

I finally switched from Ford - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

This vehicle is awesome and exceeds my expectations. I have owned this for 1 month and I cant believe the difference from an American car. Outstanding ride, comfort, and quiet solid vehicle.

My 2015 vs. My 2016 Limited Ultimate Santa Fe - 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe

An 85 year old man had his second accident of the day by pulling across out multilane divided highway at just the wrong time. We hit him at something less than the 60 mph limit and both my wife and I walked away from out totaled Santa Fe. The airbags worked so well that I didnt even have bruise marks from my glasses. The only downside is that Hyundai, and everybody else, I suppose, puts the horn button on top of the steering wheel airbag. I wonder how many other people suffer my injury: my hand-on-the-horn got blown back into my chest. It took almost two months for the pain to fully subside, and another month for my hand to regain most of its strength. Tow rating was important to me. If you buy the PIO (port installed option) trailer hitch package, the Santa Fe Limited (and SE) have a 5000 lb tow rating. According to the owners manual, even with an aftermarket hitch it is only rated for 2000 lbs. After the accident, even though the force of our connected travel trailer impact bent the "stinger" 90 degrees into the bumper, but the Hyundai hitch structure seemed undamaged. The impact was so severe that even the trailer was totaled. After the accident we had time to reflect on a replacement car. We felt so well protected by the car and had enjoyed all the features of the Ultimate package that we got the identical car in the 2016. Right away, both of us independently thought the 2016 was substantially quieter; I think theyve added insulation and maybe fine tuned the suspension. Ive seen a lot of negative comment about the third row seating. With the SE bench seat it might be a problem, but with the Limiteds captains chairs it isnt much of a deal to get into the third row. Just for grins, my wife and I let our daughter and her 6 5" husband drive and we rode in the third row for a six hour day trip. Grandsons in the middle. Were both 70 y/o and it was perfectly comfortable. Having the panoramic sun roof almost reach the third row makes it much nicer. My biggest complaint is that Hyundai hasnt incorporated Apples Carplay into the display system. The existing nav system is nice, but not as good as Google Maps or Apple Maps, plus I have to pay an annual $50 fee to Sirius just to get traffic information incorporated into the nav system. Carplay was supposed to begin showing up in another Hyundai model in 2015 so I figured the 2016 would definitely have it: Wrong! The BlueLink "turn by turn guidance", which is $100/ year is not compatible with the navigation system. Go figure.

By Sandilands - March 29 - 10:00 amAs a body shop owner and a Santa Fe owner this vehicle is wonderful. Ive driven almost all the others and this one is by far the best and the warranty is excellent. We bought one after fixing four of them. They are built well, and Hyundai really cares about their customers. We may even buy a second one and will trade this one in in 2005 for another one.

By Oliver - March 28 - 9:06 pmI love the car. It looks and drives very well. Loaded with power seats and DVD player is only 32,000! Thats good compared to Honda Pilot or even Acura MDX.
