Overview & Reviews
The Elantra received a slight refresh for this year in the form of a new hood, deck lid, front and rear bumpers, grille, headlamps and taillights. Interior revisions include a redesigned instrument cluster, vents, center console and climate controls. The engine has been fitted with continuously variable valve timing, and it is now sold in SULEV or ULEV configurations (depending on the state in which it's purchased) which offer horsepower ratings of 138 and 132, respectively. The base GLS model now offers remote keyless entry as standard equipment, while GT models now have a Kenwood CD/MP3 audio system as standard.
- Solidly built, powerful engine for its class, plenty of standard features, ultralow price tag, long warranty.
- Poor offset crash test score, antilock brakes available only as a package option.

Hyundai Elantra - 2004 Hyundai Elantra
By Neil Combs - June 8 - 10:00 amThis little car is the biggest surprise I have ever had in an automobile. I traded in a Mercury Grand Marquis, which is a fine Automobile. This Elantra rides as good as the Mercury and corners better. It is comfortable to drive and the steering and brakes are very responsive. The 4 cylinder engine was also a big surprise,

happy about it - 2004 Hyundai Elantra
By econo-cruise - June 8 - 10:00 amThe Elantra is not a economical as toyota or as fast as some other 4 cyl lighter cars, but is a good combination of all. Most of all, the disign has not fallen into the latest ugly craze. I have been a strong Toyota customer, but the styling has caused me to look around, and I am hoping the Hyundai will be as reliable as toyota.

Elantra GT - 2004 Hyundai Elantra
By daveleff - May 7 - 2:00 amHandles like a sports car. Ride is a bit stiffer than an Elantra sedan, but to be expected. Peppy 2.0 liter engine. Adequate trunk space. Good stereo system. Leather seats are comfortable and durable. Moonroof seals well. All in all, well worth the money and a serious look.

My New Elantra GT - 2004 Hyundai Elantra
By Kandbsdad - April 20 - 10:00 amI have had this car for exactly 2 weeks now and am pretty happy with it. I have logged over 500 miles and the car drove just as well fully loaded with my family on last weekends getaway as it does everyday getting me to and from work! The ride is solid and it handles well, although Im still getting used to it! The only problem I have had is with the stereo; it wont play CDs without pausing intermittantly. Fuel mileage varies greatly; the MPG meter shows 35-40 on flat highway stretches but dips into the low 20s during my 13 mile commute thru a rural canyon, but it seems to be improving. The buying experience at San Bernardino Hyundai was Excellent!

Terrible Car - 2004 Hyundai Elantra
By cory - March 19 - 2:00 amTerrible Car, Terrible Warranty. Do not buy this car because of its warranty. The car breaks down on a daily basis and the warranty covers a very small amount of the cost to repair. I will never buy any hyundai again!
