Bought my Accent GT new and regretted that purchase! Transmission troubles plagued it (my neighbor also has an 04 Accent and had to have tranny replaced at 30,000 miles). Blew out valves upon traveling over Blue Ridge mountains. Traded it in after owning for a troublesome 8 months for a Jeep. Never looked back! My first and last Hyundai!

  • Driving Hazard - 2004 Hyundai Accent

I also drove not only my new Accent but another one. They both have the same steering problem. Resulting in the way the car is made. While driving the goes pulls to the left. I was told that with the torte steering and a small car it will do that and is not a repair issue. As the months went on the pull to the left got worse. It was very hard to handle on the road and I feel it is a driving hazard.

  • This car sucks. - 2004 Hyundai Accent

I just bought my Hyundai Accent used about a month ago with only 50,000 miles on it. Well right before the warranty ran out the transmission went out on it and had to be rebuilt. Then right after the warranty ran out i was driving down the freeway and the car started to make a funny noise. So i drove to a gas station and looked under the hood to see all of the oil pouring out from under the engine. This happened with only 61,000 miles on the car. So i filled the car with oil and drove home and called my friend the mechanic and he said tha the block was cracked.

  • Basic transportation. - 2004 Hyundai Accent

After 25,000 miles the car developed too many squeaks and rattling from doors and seats. During acceleration, engine noise is very high. Extra gear and revised transmission are needed. Automatic transmission lacks finesse and does not compare to Honda Civics or Toyota Corollas. At speed does not corner well. Performance is OK, if prepared to high revving engine and increased (engine) noise. Disappointing fuel consumption for a 1.6 liter engine: did not exceed 33.60 miles/gallon even at 65 on major highways. In short: just basic transportation.
