The 2006 Hummer H3 is an all-new midsize SUV built on the Colorado pickup platform.

Pros:
  • Rugged enough to take on the tough off-road trails, smooth highway ride, stable handling, quality interior with simple controls, comfortable seats.
Cons:
  • Underpowered five-cylinder engine, low tow rating, lousy visibility for shorter drivers, below-average cargo space.

Colorado driving is good but lack of power on hills at altitude is a major weakness. I looked into aftermarket superchargers but costs of $6000+ make them push the Hummer in to the next class of suvs. To try and overcome this weak point the 2007 has bored out the engine to get 20 more horsepower. I am testing one this week. However loading it up to 5400 lbs. and being pushed by a 5 cylinder engine is a strain.

With hopes that the vehicle will hold its value and it has been a nice vehicle to own for the 2 weeks since purchase.

Its an eye turner, looks all the time. Purchased with auto trans, Adventure off road package, Premiem sound system. Avg. about 15 mpg, Dont know if I had the standard suspension, but dont really like the highway ride with the adventure Pkg. alot of static using the radio system , mirror control should be lit at night, engine is fine if youre not looking to be a speed demon. Visibility limited use caution when backing.. Would I get another??? Dont know at this point ! If I would rate this from 0 being the worst and 10 the best I would give it a 7....

Nice machine, beefy and gets alot of looks. Why? Who knows. Is it because its a new vehicle, because of the black color, because of its unique design, or is it simply because its a HUMMER. I think Consumers Report magazine was way off on their review. Some findings are correct but overall it is nothing you cant live with. I find it to be alot less smaller than the gas sucking large suvs and some of those king size trucks. You wont feel worried driving this size HUMMER! It is much more efficient than many other vehicles on the road today! Good price!

Really a nice truck. Has typical GM lack of thought. Hard to reach seat controls, window controls just where you would put your arm to rest, mi- installed exterior parts (upper marker lights, forward edge exposed makes horrible wind noise), no grab handle for the driver, no mirror for the driver. Overall a nice vehicle for the money it has just gotten the GM penny pinching that would have made it great!

I had my "baby" hummer as many people refer to it since September, and i really like it. Its a real attention grabber, so get used to it. As far as power goes i dont feel it is sluggish when accelerating, the sunroof is great, very large the only problem is the visibility especially when backing up, Also i have the adventure package and there is quite a lot of noise in the vehicle when driving on the highway. i wonder if it is because of the huge 200 lb tires. Oh well i still love my "baby Hummer.

I just got my h3 two days ago, its rely nice it drives like a dream, looks great, and the sunroof is huge. but i have put only 150 miles on it and it is already in the shop, i got a mesage "service 4wheel drive" some one came out from the dealership to fix it but i had to be towed, i didnt even take the vehical off road and it still broke, hopefully it was justa factory error and it wont happen again, thjis is common with new vehicals hopewfully no too common with mine

Priced right, and great looks. The H3 clearly beats all its competitors. A little soft in the acceleration department. Goes great off road. Some interior buttons are a bit small. A blast to drive. I am 5 7" and there are some large blind spots. You need to use your mirrors all the time and the glance over the shoulder can show you the back seat anyway. An after market seat cushion eliminated almost all of this. I am getting an honest 15 mpg in town, and havent done enough highway to really quote. I have a standard Adventure series, and I am not sure what else you could need for options. Leather would be great, but once you start adding things, the price goes up quickly. Love it

  • Great SUV, if youre single - 2006 Hummer H3

The H3 is eye catching. It has a large sunroof, big step in height, and the Hummer lines. I think GM has created an excellent SUV to compete against itself. Much better than Trailblazer/Envoy/Rainer SUVs in handling and quality construction. However, this is no Lexus. The H3 is not designed well for families with kids. 3 cup holders and no place for sunglasses.I would think $38,000 would buy a little more. Drivers info center (nope), large center console (nope), easy to reach window and seat controls (nope). For people without kids or as a second vehicle it is very fun to drive, feels safe, and is smooth even with 33inch wheels/tires.Of course I still love my H3, even with its shortcomings

  • Killer on Gas - 2006 Hummer H3

Own it now about 8 months, looks great, nice ride, great sound system as long as its just using CDs and this is the optional system, 1,100 dollars !!! I cant understand the folks here getting 20 + miles per gallon On the Hi- way Im lucky in getting 16 mpg . My lease is up in 2 1/2 yrs. thank GOD Only thing i can say it that it does ride nice and looks great interior has some issues, IF youre looking to purchase one remember gas will be about $3.75 by the end on the summer
