This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Hummer H3 is an all-new midsize SUV built on the Colorado pickup platform.

Pros:
  • Rugged enough to take on the tough off-road trails, smooth highway ride, stable handling, quality interior with simple controls, comfortable seats.
Cons:
  • Underpowered five-cylinder engine, low tow rating, lousy visibility for shorter drivers, below-average cargo space.

Sluggish response, quiet interior, good ac, smooth ride and good handling, good visibility - nice height, roomy intertior, plenty of elbow room from driver to passenger side, back seat could use some leg room, decent rear storage, heavy rear door.

Just purchased the H3 a few weeks ago. Im impressed with the styling and the overall vehicle quality. I am happy with my decision so far, however, the engine could use more torque and HP, which I am actively seeking aftermarket products for. I actually use my SUV for hauling materials I need during my remodel project, and so far, Ive not been disappointed. Believe it or not, I traded an 04 Cayenne for this, as I was tearing it apart hauling tile, lumber and concrete in it....trust me, Porsche hasnt figured out what an SUV is for...however, the Cayenne S would smoke this H3 on the street. Anyway, Ill use this for a few years and see how it goes....so far, Im impressed.

  • Hummer H3 Adventure & Lux. Package 2006 - 2006 Hummer H3

The Hummer H3 is fun to drive both on and off road. But has been in the shop since we bought it 29 times for items ranging from seals and gaskets on the front drive train. Brakes, head light lens, doors not unlocking with owner keys, noises from 4x lock low and in 4x lock high, mirror assembly coming loose then falling off going down the interstate, heater core going out, back cup holder coming off, the radio ant. coming off, check engine lights coming on and cannot find problem, recalls on jack, back windsheild pump motor .paint is easy to scratch also. I have only went 1 time off roading on the baby track . But I live in the country and needed something safe & tuff.

I bought my Hummer H3 after looking at the other types in the market including the FJ. I was in a very bad car crash so I wanted safty and I am a mother so I wanted to be able to count on it when I needed to . I have had some problems with mine . Head light lens take in water even when not off roading . Replaced drive seals ,now making klanking noise in 4 low,4 high locks.Check eng. light keeps on says fuel cap but replaced it . Along with tring to find brighter headlights no luck there.Dealership only one in my area is not helpful. Contacted Hummer corp. help line. still tring there.I have the adventure & luxury pkg. Over all my boys love it & it is nice when not in the shop.

Car is just average, many improvements needed although I am die hard GM, this truck could have been much better, also needs better leg room, had a white color and small rust spots all over i noticed after first time washing, the back wheel wells spray water into the back seat through the small crack in between the door and body

  • Cool But Beware! - 2006 Hummer H3

I just got my new H3 and absolutely love its looks and price, but Ive got an issue with the suspension. When I drive on the highway and go over larger bumps and uneven surfaces, the steering wheel jerks abruptly and the vehicle swerves and wobbles. Its worse when it happens while Im changing lanes or in the middle of a turn. It feels as if Im going to lose control and the vehicle is going to flip over. Im really concerned about how it will handle on twisty snow covered mountain roads, even with the Stabilitrak.

  • Awesome off-road capabilty - 2006 Hummer H3
    By -

Off road capabilities rivalled only by the H1 and some high end Rovers (maybe). Head turner. Acceleration wasnt as bad as expected for a Hummer, yet torque/towing capability needs to be enhanced (225/4500lb rating). Need to have optional seating for six or maybe even 7. Gas mileage is better than our Explorer.

  • Room for improvement - 2006 Hummer H3

Although exciting behind the wheel, great looks and comfort, the biggest disappointment is engine performance. The power lags tremendously and is far less responsive than what would be expected from any HUMMER. This shortfall is impractical for on-road driving conditions (e.g. city traffic) and therefore lessons the H3s appeal.

  • Fun to Drive - 2006 Hummer H3
    By -

I bought my H3 6 months ago and I love it. It drives great in the city, is a breeze to park even in the smallest of spots. And after youre done in the city, I can proudly say that it handles a day offroading like its older brother. Plus being a young guy my truck gets a lot of looks driving down the road. Awesome SUV all around.

  • Love this truck - 2006 Hummer H3

Driving this truck is so much fun, its a show stopper. Everyone stares and looks at the vehicle. Land Rover owners are jealous and try not to look. Could use more storage spaces inside, need to relocate the electric seat buttons to somewhere else other than the bottom of side seats, hard to reach with the arm rest in the way.
