  • As Honest as I can write... - 1998 Honda Prelude

I bought this car with 256000kms (159000 miles) on the car and finally bought a new car. It currently has 320000 kms (199000 miles). Ill be honest, Ive never driven a brand new Prelude, but from what I can see, considering the milage was high, it still booted, vtecd, and sound like a fast sportscar. from 256000 to 320000 kms, i only worried about oil changes and gas. i had a couple of small things that had to be changed - fan belt, rotors, and exhaust. These are all maintenance issues. This car is a soldier, and I abused the hell out of the car, and it just wont die. It is rusty as hell, and so now that I bought my new car, my prelude satisfies the carefree in me.

I own the tiptronic model, standard 2.2L, no fancy wancy vtec. Overall the Prelude is a beautiful car, thankfully the previous owners kept up the servicing and didnt thrash the living daylights out of it. My model is completely stock, straight out of the box, and I am very impressed. Tiptronic is great, you have the choice of just cruising around town in auto mode, or slapping the stick over to the side and drive it like a manual, changing gears without lifting the throttle - an added bonus. Great for open road cruising (Auckland to Cape Reinga and back (done 950+KM in two days) Excellent car. No nonsense. Safe. Reliable. End of story. Buy it!

Well, what can I say about the Honda Prelude, I own one myself. A 1998 Honda prelude automatic which is much fun to drive in the city of Salem. Its real sporty car and has a decent 4cyl v6 motor making 195 hp.

Purchased the car just under a month ago, and am still impressed by the overall quality of this Lude. The 5th gen is by far better looking than the 4th gen. Most the editor reviews will tell you the interior and exterior are lacking on the 5th gen. I could not disagree more! If nothing else, choose the 5th gen over the 4th because the 5th comes stock with vtec. I am not impressed by gimmicky features, and this car has none of those. It is a sports car. If you want something with plenty of room, get a 4 door accord. the Prelude I own has just over 110,000 miles on it, as far as I know it has not had any major mechanical work done.

I bought my Prelude with 42K miles. Has been a problem free nice commuter car and has needed very little maintenance over the last 4 years that I have owned it. It still drives and looks great at 125K miles and should keep on going. It is the Honda engineering that makes these cars seem to outlast most others. Good performance while still very reliable few complaints overall while owning this car.

  • AWESOME RIDE! - 1998 Honda Prelude

I bought this car for fun, sporty all- time transportation. It drives just as good at 98,000 miles as it did at 150. Its a perfect fit and cups your body on the smooth, lickedy-split fast turns. Rides just as comfortably at 60 mph as 130 mph and I love my manual transmission with the added bonus of the vtech growl.

  • Great Car - 1998 Honda Prelude

This is really a great car. Low end is somewhat lame, but past 4-5,000 it is a blast! Interior is typical Honda. (Simple and efficient.) Definately fun to drive if you like the high revving type cars.

  • Love After All These Years - 1998 Honda Prelude

My Lude has been with me for 4 years now. 70K miles later, I still get giddy every time the tach winds past 5,200 rpm. I have added a AEM intake, stainless header, and SuperSprint Exhaust, which has added to the fun both power and sound-wise. The acceleration and handling are still there, and the car is as stylish and comfortable as ever. A true winner!

It should have more bells and whistles for the price. This is an overpriced vehicle called "HONDA". I am glad I did not pay for this full price for I would have killed myself. Honda has gone way too far. I love my 88 more than this vechicle. Honda has to produce something close to its price. They are taking advantage of their reputation in making quality cars.
