My Passport has Been Beautiful - 1999 Honda Passport
By Badasspassport - February 25 - 5:53 pmI love my Passport, yeah I know it isnt a (true) Honda in reality an Isuzu but fun to drive all the same could get a little more power from the engine but the 4wd and construction of the vehicle are impeccable.

Toyota take me away!!! - 1999 Honda Passport
By MF Dempc - March 11 - 7:04 pmI bought the 1999 Honda Passport because I had heard what great vehicles Honda made - well guess what its not a (true) Honda -should have done my homework better! This has been the worse car Ive owned, looking to get rid of it now! Replaced transmission 11/8/4, hmmm bought it 11/18/98. Everything seems to be breaking not only the major things but minor things too!!! Looking to buy a Toyota now....

Very Disappointed! - 1999 Honda Passport
By Michelle M. - August 19 - 1:43 amWell, were one of the ones that got a REALLY bad Passport. We got this car for my husband. We went with Honda because Ive had GREAT experience with Acura and because of Hondas reputation. Passport styling is great, performance is crap. Dealer had to do a complete engine within months of purchase, problems occurred within weeks (rear wiper blades stuck, fuel injector leaks). Car burns oil like crazy--just not a reliable vehicle. We, too, are now stuck with a $300 per month payment and weve got many months to go before we pay this thing off. Currently, it is sitting at the dealer, undriveable--stalling and emitting white smoke from the tailpipe.

Happy Trails - 1999 Honda Passport
By Michael - July 26 - 5:38 pmI purchased my Honda new. I drove it for six years. The only maintenance was oil changes, tires and a battery.

Nice to drive, on road and off - 1999 Honda Passport
By SoCalKath - April 8 - 2:20 amIve had this passport for over 2 years, and it has not disappointed me. Ive done all the routine maintenance, and it has done everything Ive asked it to. I drive offroad and a lot of highways, lately. While Im not into really roughing it, I like to take rides into the desert in the winter. This is what I consider a real "ladylike" SUV (for me at least) - it looks nice, is easy to handle, I can run it through the mud, and then after a car wash, drive it to the office all week. Nice.

Great, versatile SUV ! - 1999 Honda Passport
By Kathryn in SoCal - March 16 - 10:39 pmThis is a fun vehicle. And, despite what a lot of people seem to complain, it has been supremely reliable. I bought this Passport over 2 years ago, used, and have done all the regular maintenance. I drive it hard over the weekend and during the week. A lot of highway driving to work. Weekends (when time permits) over 4WD roads in the desert or the mountains. It has needed predictable maintenance - the tires all needed replacing at once at 60,000 miles, but that was the life expectancy of the original tires. What else can I say - its a great car to drive offroad, then run it through a carwash and it looks nice to go off to work or go out in.

Please Rethink - 1999 Honda Passport
By HatedIt - April 28 - 2:00 amJust wanted to save some people the heartache of owning one of these. I bought the extended warranty on this vehicle and have gotten my money back and then some. Major problems: Transmission is sealed and very expensive to have serviced, shocks blown at 50k miles, leaks at door seals, ignition coils went out at 70k miles.

Not bad - 1999 Honda Passport
By turbo911 - March 8 - 2:00 amThe biggest problem for Isuzu/Honda on this vehicle is the brakes and the ABS pump. I suggest you get an extended warrantee if you can. Another problem is the rear hatch and its constant rattling. The truck has enough space when the seats are stoed to move a kid to college and back. I will consider purchasing the Isuzu Rodeo in the future. Overall this is a good SUV.
