This Year's Model Updates:

Most significant for the Honda minivan this year is the option to get the Touring trim with the rear-seat entertainment system and not the navigation system. Previously, the two features were always packaged together. Other changes this year include additional child-seat tether anchors for the third row and standard satellite radio for the Touring model. Finally, stated power output for the Odyssey's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Split flat-folding rear bench
  • Agile, carlike handling
  • Optional eight-passenger seating
  • Strong reliability record.
  • Extensive feature list
  • Smooth and powerful V6

  • MORE SPACE ODYSSEY - 2006 Honda Odyssey
    By -

The day after purchase we drove two kids off to college. First stop Delaware, then on to Virginia. Total drive was 820 miles round trip. The trip was comfortable and economical. Our odyssey is fabulous. Fun to drive and spacious. At one point there were 8 adults in the vehicle . All were comfortable. We love our odyssey.

It gives my family all the space and luxury we want in the interior. Great sound system on the entertaiment system. Love the GPS system! Enough cup holders. Use the extra storage in the floor. Love the dual glove comparment and child view mirror. Geat that flooring carpet snaps out in pieces - every mother sould know why.

After a million or so hours of research, we finally chose the Odyssey over the Sienna. So far, weve been really please with this vehicle. It has every amenity that you could ever want, and its wonderful for our famliy of four. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend the Odyssey to anyone looking for a great mini-van.

  • Comfortable cruiser - 2006 Honda Odyssey

This van is very comfortable, handles and accelerates well, even the base model is loaded with safety features, mileage ~18-19 city, 24-25 hwy., if you dont need all the "bells and whistles", you might be happy with the base "lx" model, highly recommended...

  • MPG overrated by Honda - 2006 Honda Odyssey

I have not come close to the MPG stated by Honda. I would like to get over 17 in town and 24 on the High way. I was promised that I would get 18/28. Not even close.

  • Buy This Van! - 2006 Honda Odyssey
    By -

This van is great. We put 2000 miles on ours in the first two weeks of owning it. We took a road trip the second week. I cruised at over 90 mph and it drove better than my 2000 Suburban. The passing ability in this thing is unbelievable. The reason I bought it though, was of course, for the kids. Its really easy for my 2 and 5 year old to get in and out, especially with the automatic doors. Im not sure yet how good or bad the mileage is, but the range is great.

  • Great Buy - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Traded in a 2003 Odyssey with leather/entertainment system. The 2003 was excellent, but the 2006 has made significant strides in ergonomics, ride and ammenities. This van cruises effortlessly. It is roomy and seems to ride smoother. The best van on the market bar none.

  • Very good, for the most part... - 2006 Honda Odyssey
    By -

The Odyssey is overall very decent. Upscale feel on the inside. Car is quiet and smooth. Satisfying power and surprisingly very good handling. I also own a Subaru STi and CBR1000RR bike, and still am pleasantly surprised at the Odysseys acceleration and car-like handling. The Nav system is also very impressive and fast... this and the 630+ recognized voice commands are tres cool!!! Even my wife who was reluctant to buy this extra technogear now wonders how she got along without it. Heres the bad parts: Consistently disappointing gas mileage 16-17 mpg even when driven by my wife, who doesnt live life past 4K RPM. Sunroof is already broken, too.

  • Now I Understand - 2006 Honda Odyssey

We looked at several competitors - Honda have raised the bar. The Honda has great styling, the interior is first rate, could easily be a Acura.

  • 5 mos of Odyssey - 2006 Honda Odyssey
    By -

After 6 Chrysler vans we switched to our first Honda. The bad quality of the Chrysler vans and the good reputation of Honda caused the move. The extras are well done and the overall quality matched our expectations. But, the steering wheel is two inches closer to the dash than any other making seat adjustments difficult. I consider this an irritation not a major flaw. However, the real big problem is the PAX tire system. I would love to meet the engineers and management that approved it. The ride is hard due to extra thick sidewalls, you cannot replace the tires or rims with anything but the PAX type, and the cost is $250+ each just for the tire. This is going to kill the resale value.
