Overview & Reviews
The Odyssey gains a number of improvements this year. Included with the Odyssey 2.1 upgrade is more power, a new five-speed transmission, standard rear disc brakes and side airbags, optional leather seating and DVD entertainment, two new exterior colors and minor interior storage refinements.
- Excellent crash-test scores, huge interior, fold-flat third-row seat, powerful V6, optional navigation and entertainment system, a bargain at sticker price.
- Slow power sliding doors, dealer markup still a possibility.

Second Best Buy our family has made - 2002 Honda Odyssey
By KarenK1 - July 29 - 2:00 amoutside of small nitpicking issues like the cigarette lighter location and improved CD track changing controls on the steering wheel, I would say that this is the best vehicle I have every driven. The navigation system is a big plus as well.

Quality! - 2002 Honda Odyssey
By rlfuzz - July 4 - 2:00 amWe purchased a 2001 EX looking for a trouble free vehicle (never again will we own a Volvo). The brakes are horrible, rotors were turned at 7500 miles after complaining about severe vibrations when braking. Well, it is time again at 12500 miles, not a good trend. The power doors are nice, when they work! The dealer tells me there is nothing wrong with them. About 75% of the time I have to get back out and shut them because they would not close all the way (Honda Quality?). The engine is wonderfull, both powerfull and smooth. The transmission could use some tuning. I hate the "Grade Logic" feature. It is noisy on the highway but rides great, smooth and stable.

automatic sliding door not working - 2002 Honda Odyssey
By c_chang - May 22 - 2:00 amI have a 2000 EX model. The BIG problem I had was that my rear automatic sliding door didnt work for three different times. They replaced the mechanism on both side, and I still had a problem. Computer on board decide to shut it itself. I am afraid how much I need to pay to fix this again after warranty expires.

Very Good but Get the best. - 2002 Honda Odyssey
By Penn State - May 22 - 2:00 amAfter a long debate between getting the LX or the EX. I opted for the LX mainly because of price. So far everything about this Van is great. Exeptional Honda quality as I expected. However when I see one of the kids slamming the manual side doors I find myself wishing I would have spend the extra money for the EX model with the smooth closing power doors. Either way LX or EX compared to the competition you cant beat the Honda Odyssey mini van.

Best of four Hondas Ive owned - 2002 Honda Odyssey
By Honda guy - April 4 - 10:00 amAs a Honda salesman and customer, I understand how people feel about markup, Annoyed. However, this is the finest vehicle I have ever owned. It drives just like my Accord, and the DVD is the coolest thing ever for the kids. My only complaint is the drawer under the passenger seat. It is cheap. Dont look at it as paying too much markup. Think of your next best option, and the Odyssey will seem an incredible value. I am sorry your dealer hasnt been satisfactory.

02 Odyssey LX - 2002 Honda Odyssey
By jlaves - April 4 - 10:00 amThe van has been a pleasant surprise from day one. One rarely buys a van for the pleasure of driving, but for the ability to haul things and people. This van delivers on the requirements, and it also delivers a lot of fun to drive. I recently drove form NH to FL with seven people, and the car made the long trip easy. It is very quiet, seats everyone on comfort, and delivered 25 mpg when driven 70 to 80 mph on the highway. On the way back, I got 27 mpg with a stiff wind from behind...

Awesome - 2002 Honda Odyssey
By Zoey - April 3 - 2:40 amThis is a great van. It rides like a dream and has the foreign reliability that everyone loves without an unreasonable price tag. It is extremely convenient, esp. with the third row seat that folds flat, and it has an amazing amount of room when the 3rd row seat is up. The Odyssey has a wonderful amount of cargo space.

Transmission Anyone - 2002 Honda Odyssey
By icetime - January 10 - 10:00 amHave one week under my belt now. Anyone having problems with transmission? I think either Honda or I have a problem. 0 - 45 MPH is very smooth. Over 45(maybe 50) the tranny wants to shift up down and all around as you speed up and slow down. Its not real bad but definitely noticable. Also level speed between 50 and 55 gets you a low throttle sound like there isnt enough power. More than likely it is shifting too soon. This is true all the time not some of the time. My wife and kids hear it also but so far my wife loves the car (go figure). I like the car but it is easily the worst transmission "feel" for any car I have ever driven with such few miles. Guess its off to the dealer.
