This Year's Model Updates:

Most significant for the Honda minivan this year is the option to get the Touring trim with the rear-seat entertainment system and not the navigation system. Previously, the two features were always packaged together. Other changes this year include additional child-seat tether anchors for the third row and standard satellite radio for the Touring model. Finally, stated power output for the Odyssey's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Split flat-folding rear bench
  • Agile, carlike handling
  • Optional eight-passenger seating
  • Strong reliability record.
  • Extensive feature list
  • Smooth and powerful V6

  • Best Car in 50 Years of Driving - 2006 Honda Odyssey

The car handles beautifully in wet and snowy weather. Quiet and extremely comfortable to ride in, it has v/good acceleration, offering safe access to busy expressways and parkways. The 3/6 cylinder motor offers economy. For once, we are not fighting for trunk space (usually we do not use the third row of seats). Each of us has a big plastic storage box in the trunk, and we still have ample space for our five suitcases when traveling. The four dogs also have plenty of room. The largest of the four (50 lbs.) likes to ride in the front seat whenever I drive alone; when the seat warmer is on, she curls up for a nap. Even my friends who are critical of suvs and vans havent complained.

  • Was disappointed in the van - 2006 Honda Odyssey

The van rides well but the gas mileage is not anywhere near the figures quoted. Have owned this van 4 months and it has been in the shop 3 times already. Has had the brakes go out - and there was a recall on them. The passenger seatbelt is uncomfortable and Honda does not have an extension available. Has had one run-flat tire already had to be replaced. We found to replace the run-flat tire is $650.00 according to the dealer. Thought the hidden compartment was cool - but found is impractical to use.

This is a terrific vehicle! I was a previous owner of a Quest and wish I had started with the Odyssey. Kid friendly, plenty of cup holders & storage. Easy to fold seats, even my 5 yr. old can do it. The DVD has a crisp, clean screen. This vehicle is so quiet during city & highway driving. Easy to read dash & user friendly climate control. So much more superior to the Quest. It gets great gas mileage. I cant say enough good things about this van!

The new honda with 200 miles got 24 MPg on our first trip. This van is fun to drive, and love the voice activated navigation, the DVD and the XM radio.

  • 06 Odyssey is a very nice van. . . - 2006 Honda Odyssey

The vehicle drives well and is quite comfortable. We have had no quality issues in the first few months and 3000 miles. Our mileage has averaged 19-22 mpg. I was surprised that a few simple items have been overlooked by Honda, such as an auto-on/off feature for the headlights and an auto-lock feature for the doors. These should be standard across the model lineup! I also believe that for such a safety-minded vehicle that power adjustable pedals should be available on each model, as well. Overall, my family has been pleased with the Odyssey. By, the way, our first venture in to snow was not too successful, thus new Blizzak snow tires have been ordered!

  • ignore sticker mpg - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Nice van. Seats are wonderful. Drives excellent, relatively quiet for a van. Engine noise is non-exsistent. MPG is horibble, no where near 20-28 on sticker. VCM is almost pointless at 75 mph so increase in mileage at interstate speeds is terrible. If you drive 45 mph everywhere it may get 25 mpg. Averages 19 mpg with 90% interstate driving, thats not even what it was advertised to get in TOWN! Only problems with some faulty weather stripping yet, but have only had it 2 months and 3500 miles. My 1st Honda so will be curious if it will be reliable. Dealership and sales people horrible. Tried 3 different Honda dealers, none seem to want you business.

  • LOVE IT!!! - 2006 Honda Odyssey

We bought the Honda Odyssey in May 2006, and I actually wonder now why we waited so long! I LOVE it, its fun to drive, very comfortable and even my husband who swore he would never drive a mini van loves to drive it! Its perfect for our family, it holds us our kids and our dogs comfortably on our trips. It also has lots of fun features, the kids love the DVD player, and I love the NAV system, its nice to know I will never get lost again! I would definitely recommend the Odyssey to anyone in the market for a mini van.

  • Nice van, fun to drive... - 2006 Honda Odyssey

We previously owned a Dodge Caravan and the Odyssey blows it away in every way. It handles extremely well and is a dream on long road trips. Honda engineering is second to none and they have certainly listened to minivan ownwers with kids by incorporationg second row seats that move apart or together, second row windows that can be lowered and of course the stowable 3rd row seats. Fuel economy leaves a bit to be desired, and the price is a bit steep -- but you do get what you pay for. Other than that, we have been pleased so far.

  • really dissatisfied - 2006 Honda Odyssey

The heater is slow to warm up and then is not very warm, the air conditioner is slow to cool and not very cool. The brakes grab. The CD player does not play on rough roads or during cool temperatures. The visibility is poor through the side view mirrors. The driver seat is uncomfortable for shorter people.
