  • Do your homework before you buy an hrv! - 2016 Honda HR-V
    By -

After buying several new cars (luxury included), I thought that I was a faithful honda customer (the last 3 new cars Ive bought have been Hondas), but this HRV has changed my opinion about Honda. Shortly after I bought it, the hrv started shaking and rattling so bad that its embarrassing to drive with passengers in the car. Ive never driven a car that does this, let alone a brand new 2016! I took it to the dealership who told me to leave it for at least 6 hours and theyd try to figure out what is making all of the noise. Since no other customers had compained to the service dept about their Hrvs yet (I was the 2nd person to buy an Hrv at that dealership), they didnt know where to even start on mine. I didnt have an extra 6+ hours to waste that day, so Im planning to have the shaking and rattling diagnosed when I go in for my first oil change. My Hrv is making lots of noise from the front drivers side wheel well and the rear passenger door panel. It also creeks and squeeks when it goes over speedbumps or up a curb to go into my driveway. It was soo bad that a Co worker who wanted an Hrv like mine went to lunch with me in my car and changed his mind after riding in it. He ended up buying a Subaru. I dont blame him. None of this happened on the test drive, obviously, or I wouldnt have purchased it. This all started happening within the first month of ownership though. Maybe I got a lemon, but if the rest of the new Hrvs are like mine, Honda has seriously dropped the ball with their longstanding tradition of quality when it comes to the Hrv. This is is the only new car that Ive ever regretted buying. Not what I expected from Honda and Im greatly disappointed.

  • Really Uncomfortable Driver Seat!!! - 2016 Honda HR-V
    By -

The car itself is great. What you will realize after driving for a while is that the seat will cause back pain. It is because the seat tips backward a bit. No matter how you adjust it, it will be uncomfortable. If you like sitting up straight - dont buy this car.

  • Horrible!!! - 2016 Honda HR-V
    By -

Front driver seat is not designed to fit a human being. Incredibly uncomfortable! The head rest on the driver seat tilts your head forward and cannot be adjusted. Absolutely no lower back support or adjustment ability to the lower back driver seat. So many corners cut to cut costs on this thing. If it was 12k I might give it more stars, but for 24k, no way! No cupholders in the backseat. No side storage space in the back hatch section. Left-hand driver side armrest is rock hard and uncomfortable as hell. No knobs on dashboard controls make it very difficult and awkward to adjust the music and climate controls. A few positives with this car would be good gas mileage comfortable right arm rest for the driver seat and the right turn lane camera. Gutless motor and no legroom for the driver made this a bad choice for me and lm pissed I bought it. I had to eat my loss and trade it back.

  • So not worth it - 2016 Honda HR-V
    By -

I bought this car in oct/2015 and my ac has already stopped working. I took it in to pepboys to have the oil changed and have them look at the ac to see what was going on. they said there was nothing wrong and to go to Honda and have the warranty cover it. I took it in to Honda and they said a rock hit the air compressor and thats why it wasnt working. I went online to do some research and guess what I find..... the Honda cr-v has the same issue due to placement and Honda has yet to fix the issue or recall it. this repair will cost me 800$. I am beyond livid since i bought this car. i had a tow hitch installed they never screwed the tail lights back in i had to do it because of the rattle, they chipped the paint because they left the screws on the tailgate and closed it on the screws, the trunk will not always open when i try. and now the customer service it atrocious. i want everyone to know how bad Honda has treated me when they know they are in the wrong. ohhh and yes even better the compressor that they ordered to put in my car was defective so now i have to wait til at least tues to get the car back. and they cant get me a loaner car because they have a 65 person waiting list. this is the most absurd thing i have ever heard. never again will i buy a Honda.

  • Disliking this car each day even more !! - 2016 Honda HR-V
    By -

This car seems very nice and comfortable at your eyes, but the truth is that it has many things that do not work properly. The oil gets bad fast and i have to change it too often. I can`t stand the brakes on this vehicle, very poor acceleration, I feel the transmission on this car is no good at all. Ac does not cool enough, the car gets hot in minutes. The brakes make a strange sound and i can feel as if it hit my foot as I press the brakes. I don`t feel safe at all. Also the interior looks very nice but I only have this vehicle for ten months and the seats look like a five year old car. The sound from the outside, inside the vehicle is too loud. When I am driving I feel like if the windows are open when they are all close. If I am park any sound from outside is heard clear inside the vehicle, sometimes people close their vehicle doors park behind me and I can hear like if someone hit my car with something. I definitely want to give this car back and get my money. I paid around $35,000.00 for this car and is not worth half of it.

  • Bad back? Do NOT buy this car! - 2016 Honda HR-V
    By -

I bought one of the first HRVs at my local dealership and its been the WORST car that Ive ever bought! After 5 month and 8K miles, its been to the service dept repeatedly for squeaking, rattling and suspension issues. The suspension rides very rough and I bought the car because I have a bad back and its higher than my last Honda. Big mistake! My other Honda was lower (2013 EX Civic), but it didnt cause pain when I went over bumps in the road- the HRV does! On a recent road trip, the freeway was under construction and the car was difficult to drive on the uneven road. It was swaying and hopping up and down soo bad that it literally "jumped" into the lane next to me! It scared the death out of me! The dealer would not document the freeway event and maintains that there is nothing mechanically wrong with my car. The service manager told my that the what Im experiencing is "inherent" to HRVs performance. The dealership was talking about getting me into another car but decided that it wasnt "cost effective" for them. After one of the many visits to the dealership, one of the squeaks was thought to be coming from the drivers seat and the guys in the service dept eluded that maybe it was "my weight" causing it! Im 65" 225lbs. I was very offended, but I didnt say anything in the hopes they would just fix the problem. It didnt happen. On the most recent visit to the service dept, the car had 61 miles put on it overnight without anything being fixed. When I asked why so many miles were put on my car in one night, a person in the service department became confrontational and screamed at me. Despite being in the shop MULTIPLE times, my car still has the same problems. In all good faith, I could not recommend this car or even Honda as a brand anymore. I have waited weeks to speak to a rep from Honda about their "brand new car," but they have NOT contacted me. The dealership tells me a rep will be here in the next few weeks. I have been a Honda customer for the last 10 years and have bought three brand new vehicles from them, but this is the last one. I have never been soo disrespected by a retailer or ignored by a manufacturer like I have been in the last few months by Honda and the dealer. Ive been meeting with attorneys to find out what rights I have as a consumer because neither the dealership or Honda is fixing this car or care about how bad it is or my safety! WARNING! Its VERY easy to get into this car at the dealership but VERY hard to get out of it once you realize how bad it is (and drop thousands for tax, license, doc fees and extended warranty). Outrageous amounts of road noise, the A/C is under powered, the list keeps going on and on. Read some of the other reviews on this car before you buy! Its not just the HRV either. Research the vibration problem with 2015 CRV. Shame on you Honda!

  • Previous Hondas Better - 2016 Honda HR-V
    By -

This is a poorly made vehicle made in Mexico. The horrific paint jobs that come through on these is a disgrace. Missing clear-coat, dirt in paint- panels dont fit flush, etc. Ive owned previous Hondas in the past-mainly made in Japan. Take my advice and dont buy these Mexican made junk piles. Ive regretted my purchase since day one. The selling dealer has been great however; they can only do so much. I cannot wait to trade in on better vehicle- and it wont be another Honda. Now six months later, the exhaust has a terrible rattle under certain speeds when accelerating. The overall quality of this vehicle leave a lot to be desired. Im looking for a change this Spring.

  • PROBLEM WITH THE RADIO - 2016 Honda HR-V
    By -

September 12 2017 Edmunds.com Honda still refuses to replace the defective radio. I had three different experts in automobile radios review mine and they all concur that it is distorted and defective, But Honda denies that they can hear any distortion and refuses to do anything about it. ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE A second more serious problem came up. The electric parking brake comes on by itself while the car is in motion. It occurred to me once. Honda refuses to do anything about, even though they have a WARNING printed in their manual, indicating that if it occurs to take the car immediately to the dealer to correct the problem. They took the car around the block to test it and because it did not happen they refuse to do anything about it. Honda tells me that they have to observe the problem to correct it. I am not using the car to drive on the freeway because if the parking brake comes on while I am driving at freeway speeds, it could be a disaster. Honda does not care about that possibility and has refused to do anything about it. It has been more than a year since I have asked them repeatedly to correct the problem. Edgar Romo SEE ADDITIONAL COMMENTS AFTER THE FIRST COMPLAINT: PROBLEM WITH THE RADIO After purchasing the HR-V 5DFR 2WD EX-L, and while on my way home I turned on the radio and was greeted with a distorted sound on AM stations, on FM stations and when playing CDs. On the next day, I took the car back to the dealership and I was told that the radio was working as designed. One week later with 140 miles on the car I took it back again and I asked the customer service department to check the radio for distorted output. I left the car with them and they told me they would call me back later with results. They call me in the afternoon to inform me that the radio was working as design and there was nothing they could do to it to change and they were not able to verify my complaint. I have since made several recordings from the radio’s AM station, FM stations and when played back it is obvious that the distortion is very high and some times it makes the output unintelligible. Honda so fart refuses to accept any responsibility for this condition. Has anyone had the same experience or know how to get Honda to correct this problem? ADDITIONAL BAD EXPERIENCE WITH HONDA ============================ September 12 2017 Edmunds.com Honda still refuses to replace the defective radio. Edgar Romo 10/11/2016 Edmunds.com Thanks for your inquire about the Honda HR-V. Unfortunately, my experience with Honda and with this car has deteriorated. The radio system is distorted to the point that I do not turn the radio on any more when driving. I have gone to Honda three times to ask them to do correct the problem and they refuse to do anything about it. After the third visit, they now deny that they hear the distortion, something that was obvious and accepted in the first two visits. Now they claim they cannot hear any distortion. I took the car to four different car audio specialists to ask them to diagnose my problem and all four of them detected the problem right away. Honda refuses to write in my complain about a defective radio, they told me that they will not acknowledge that I brought the car in with a complaint of a defective radio. Now there is no record at Honda that I have a car with a defective radio and that I have tried to have Hoda correct the problem. Edgar Romo.

The interior seems like it was designed by Stevie Wonder.

  • one of the worst vehicle purchases I ever made - 2016 Honda HR-V
    By -

Having owned Honda vehicles the past few years, 1996 accord , 2000 CRV. I thought the quality will stay the same if not a little better. I was dead wrong. I have low standards, however, I got this car for my daughter, thinking that Honda reliability will make us be worry free for the next few years. First issue, front windshield blurry in the bottom inch before the dashboard, hey, what can you do , its not perfect, its a $21000 dollar vehicle, not gonna bring it to the dealership to replace it, we can live with that. Second issue , no engine temperature gauge, I mean come on now, how hard can it be for Honda to put that in, okay , I guess we can just get a scan gauge to remedy the issue. Third issue, its been raining here in Los Angeles, the past few days, and guess what? the rear passenger side has some leaks ,primarily the seat belt is soaking wet, aside from that the trunk has leaks too, in the same side. I mean, wow , this is supposed to be Honda...what happened to your quality control.?Ive only had the HRV for 6 months, at 6300 miles, garage kept . pampered and babied like my other old Hondas..Now I have to bring it the dealerships here in L.A. Im not sure how long they will fix it or not and they might not even offer a loaner car, I think, hope im wrong ...what a disappointment. Imagine the molds that may be in those wet areas ...Now im stuck with this HRV, cant wait to get rid of it....
