Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

I bought this car used with 128,000 miles on it. I am very satisfied with it and like the performance and handling of the car. It is a manual transmission and the shifts are smooth. I have not made any major repairs on it. I have taken 1000 mile road trips with this car. I am looking forward to buying a Civic Si soon.

First off, I got this car for a STEAL because it was the last 08 the dealer had on the lot. Due to this, I may think that this car is a better value than others that paid sticker. Overall, I like the car. Its fast, handles well, and looks pretty good when tinted. Its also a decent size, reliable, and pretty economical. I drive "spiritedly" often and I still get great gas mileage. The worst was 26mpg (100 mile trip on back roads in Maine = wild ride) and the best has been about 33mpg...I usually average about 29 with 50/50 highway/city. One warning if you get an Si, every punk kid in a Honda/import will want to race you. Just something you have to live with.

Had no major issues. Had to replace the AC compressor at about 130K. It was a great drive. This was my first new car. I used it till someone else decided that they needed it more than I did and stole it!

  • Cracked Engine Block @ 132K - 2006 Honda Civic

Love the car! It was a great drive but cracked engine block @ 132K???? This seems to be an epidemic now showing up on 2006/2007/2008 Civics! Honda will not cover it because of the mileage which I think is not good PR considering it is due to to a design weakness or a manufacturing defect regardless of mileage. Hoping for an eventual recall! Also, transmission had to be replaced at 132K!

Front brakes grab unevenly, right front side vibrate and make noise braking on uneven pavement. Muffler exhaust makes putt-putt sound. Have 5K miles on it. Otherwise good car.

  • Great car! - 2010 Honda Civic

Chose this car over a Mazda3. Handles very well in turns and over suburban streets. Very comfortable. I thought that the dash layout and speedometer would be a problem, but that is not the case. Bit noisy on highway at 50- 65.

  • Best in its Class - 2010 Honda Civic

Ive had my Honda Civic for a little over 6 months now. I LOVE IT!!!. In my opinion is the very best in its class. Performance, power, handling is great. My favorite feature FUEL EFFICIENT. In the City I get an average of 32 -34 Miles for Gallon. In the Highway for Long Trips, you can get 37-40 Miles per gallons of course the depending on the speed, and terrain you encounter, But if you drive this car at 65 MPH, you can easily get 40 Miles per gallon.

I have had the car for 18 months, bought brand new, thought I was buying quality. WRONG. This car has design flaws. Sunvisers bust and fall on your head (replaced 4). A/C doesnt work at stop lights. Engine rattles when you start it in the morning. Car does not start on first try every time(stranded 2xs and now carry jumper cables). Honda cares about my safety so much they will not even look at anything wrong with the car. I am told "unless you can duplicate the problem there isnt one."

  • 08 Si Sedan - 2008 Honda Civic

Ive owned my 2008 Si Sedan for about 3 months now, bought it used with 25,000 miles on it. It drove exactly the same as the brand new one I drove with 5 miles on it, so I save myself about $7,000. What can I say? Its a great car, I love driving it, the engine sounds awesome when over 6k RPM, and it will take spirited driving with no issues. Did an autocross event last weekend, and that was ridiculously fun. The car gets 28-30mpg, and feels faster than it is. Certainly fast enough for me. I have had no issues with the shifter, the stock stereo is decent, and the car handles great. Looks awesome too : )

  • Disappointed - 2010 Honda Civic

Im somewhat disappointed with my Civic. I feel all of the bumps in the road, the steering is way too sensitive, my knee constantly hits the emergency brake lever and the acceleration is weak. I dont like the rear window defogger as it doesnt clear all the way up to the top, I assume because the antenna is there. The paint and windshield seem to chip very easy, Ive had a couple already. I dont like the way the inside door jams retain so much dirt and water after a rain or snow. When you open up the doors the inside jams are filthy. I dont like the head rest on the drivers seat, it pushes up whenever a push back on the seat. Brakes are good, gas mileage lower than I hoped for.
