Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • honda LEMON - 2008 Honda Civic

My 2008 civic is a lemon. the brakes have failed 2 times. there is excessive high/low amounts of oxygen in the car-found on testing-for which I do not yet know the source. Bottom line, driving it results in headaches, confusion, dizziness, and nausea. it can not be driven. the drivers door lock is broken. the power windows have malfunctioned. The car does not start in cold weather. The car bucks when changing gears. If you breathe on the car, it scratches. NEVER BUY HONDA. Honda Canada is a nightmare. To date, nothing had been done to serve me. 10 months, no car.

  • I LOVE MY HONDA! - 1997 Honda Civic

I have driven this car for 200,000 miles and still love it. This car has been reliable and efficient all the way! And so much fun to drive! None of the extra bells and whistles on the DX means nothing breaks. Solid car all around. Also handles very well in the snow, this car has never left me in a ditch even through years of nasty winters in upstate NY. I have had numerous exhaust pipes/mufflers put in, but that has been it other than the scheduled maintenance. I love my Honda and the fact that it was built in Ohio (how many of the so-called American cars can say that anymore?). Still has another 100K left in her! My 8 rating for comfort was due to the fact that the car doesnt have AC.

Overall the best car that I ever had, never any mechanical problem, great on gas.

  • No More Hondas for Me - 2008 Honda Civic

At first, I loved my Civic. It had great gas mileage and was fun to drive. Ive had it for about two years and my brakes are wearing out (my previous one went 4 years without needing a brake change), it rattles in the back, and takes forever to heat up. It does awful in the snow theres no traction whatsoever. The paint is awful and gets nicked by things that shouldnt even affect it. I thought I was buying a quality vehicle in the beginning, but now Ive decided I wont ever own another Honda.

  • Horrible fuel economy - 2009 Honda Civic

I have owned 2 previous Honda Civics in the past 14 years. Got a 2009 Civic recently, and it is getting horrible fuel economy. This one is only getting average of 24 MPG, whereas my previous Civics got 36 MPG. American Honda says there is nothing wrong with the car, so now I am stuck with a gas guzzzler car. NO MORE HONDAS FOR ME EVER AGAIN !!!!!

I purchased my 1997 Honda Civic LX Sedan 6 months ago after my 1994 Honda Accord EX-L Sport Couple was totaled by someone pulling out in front of me. I love this civic it is my 3rd Honda it had 209000 miles on it when I bought it and just rolled over 218000 miles in 6 months. The car had one previous owner, needs a paint job but other than that it has original engine and clutch and transmission still drives as its brand new. get around 320 miles per tank. Just regular maint done since I have bought it, oil changes and brake pads. I LOVE THIS CIVIC! as excellent as my dads 95 Acura integra with original motor and power train (automatic) that has 670,000 on it and still drives like new!

Ive had my Civic for over 2 years and I absolutely love it! Of course, like every car, it has its quirks, but all in all its a great car. 40,000 rolled up last week, and its still tight as a drum. It does have several rattles, but they have gone away with time. I LOVE that I only have to change the oil about every 6,500 miles rather than 3,000 (the Maintenance Minder system even tells you when its time to change the oil). I have the coupe, and the trunk is surprisingly roomy. I do about 90% city driving and get about 34-36 MPG. The car also holds up well in accidents Ive been rear ended and clipped in the front, and both times the car had less than $500 worth of damage.

  • Great little econobox - 2000 Honda Civic

I bought this car fresh off the lot with 17 miles on it. It now has 198,000 miles and still running great. No major mechanical issues and provides worry free driving with only regular scheduled maintenance. Even with the high mileage I still average between 31-35mpg on the highway!

  • Good car - 2008 Honda Civic

I purchased my Honda Civic EX-L w/16500 miles in 1/2010.So far so good. Its a nice little car my EX-L has all the bells and whistles on it the only thing missing is the navigation and I have a garmin for that anyway. With only 16500 miles on the car you would think that the 30000 mile OME tires would be good.Trust me they are not.I just replaced them with Goodyear triple tred tires it makes a world of difference with handeling in snow and rain, the OME tires were HORRIBLE.I drive both highway and city mostly city and Ive averaged about 30mpg not bad.The inside is nice and the 2 tier dash is easy to get use to I think I like better than the traditional gauges. Its so far been a great car.
