Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Good drive around car. Not too sporty so not fun to drive. Great mpg. 2000 Civic is better. Can hold a good sound system.

  • Love Honda - 1997 Honda Civic

I think buying a honda you will never go wrong. I bought mine in 1998 and trade it in 2005 just because i wanted something bigger living in the north. I wish I would have kept my civic ex

  • Still running with new parts - 2003 Honda Civic

I bought my civic used in 2005 with 37K miles and now have 158K. I have been a stickler with scheduled maintenance and have averaged between 33 and 38 mpg. I go on long drives once a month and it does well, but the seats are uncomfortable and you feel every pebble and crack and on the road. I replaced the ignition coils at 120K, the clutch at 153K and the head gasket replaced at 155K, which was hard to diagnose as the symptoms lead you to think the issue is elsewhere (overheating and heater malfunctioning), and the dealership was clueless. Otherwise it has been good to me. I would recommend buying this car, but if the miles are high look for one with new head gasket!

  • A dual-purpose car - 2000 Honda Civic

I bought this car used with 110,000 miles on the clock and unmolested, actually it was a Canadian Model (SiR). First thing about this car is the handling. With double-wishbone front suspension and independent rear, it just felt like you can go into any corner at speed! However, what makes this unique (applies to all Hondas with VTEC) is the VTEC engine. low-rpm is great for gentle in-town driving (or when you are calm). When you wanna gun it down, just hold the rev up and virtually no other NA cars can keep up with you, not to mention the sound and the turbo-feel when it does that.

  • I still have fun driving this car! - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

I purchased my 2006 Honda Civic in 2006 right after the new body style came out. I had 2 cars breaking down traded them both in for my Civic. Except for normal maintenance I have had no problems with the car at all. I still have fun driving it! This is an excellent gas miles car as well average 38 on the hwy and 32 in the city. I am a Honda fan for life I just purchased a 2009 Ridgeline cause I love that truck. My Honda Civic will be with me until it dies and maybe even after it does.

  • Never buy a Honda again - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

Purchased 4000 miles in the shop week 2 left rear bearing went out, wk 3 needed new tires, airbags defaulted, most uncomfortable seat/steering wheel adjustment, battery, poor stereo/cd audio, I purchased the LX for me and ab ex for my daughter. I will take a Nissan any day, the customer service was good, the car disappoints.

  • Another Honda Lover - 2010 Honda Civic

This is my third Honda. I just love the quality, reliability and feel of the car. I got 34 MPG with the first tank with mixed driving--only had it for 2 weeks. Got some fog lights thrown in (not installation) and a great price! I am very happy with my purchase.

  • Favorite Car - 2008 Honda Civic

I absolutely love my 2008 Honda Civic EX-L. I have had several cars - VW, Acura, Pontiac - and the Civic is the best car I have owned. Its fun to drive, its plenty peppy and its comfortable. The price is great for the quality of the vehicle.

  • Best performance car for the $$$ - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

Ive had my Civic Si now for almost a year and can say that it is the best car for the $$$ that Ive ever purchased. Ive owned many sporty cars before, too. The reviews that Ive read that were negative were from people that probably shouldnt have bought this car to start with. The car is made for DRIVING, not commuting to and from work. The regular Civic is what they shouldve bought. You get WAY more than what Mazda, VW or Subaru can offer for the $21,000 that I paid for this car even with the navi. I drive long distances for work and average 33 mpg on those highway trips and get about 25 in the city. I would definitely recommend this car to just about everyone.
