Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Great little car, very reliable! - 2000 Honda Civic

I bought a 4 door EX model with 87K in 9/09. I had gotten into an accident with my 04 Neon and as funny as it sounds, I am glad that I did because I love this car. It is leaps and bounds better than the Neon I owned that was 4 years newer. Awesome gas mileage, power everything, pretty comfortable ride and runs like it is almost new! I love my sunroof too! Couldnt have gotten a better price for the amount of car I got. I now have 94K on the car and no complaints at all. I will hold on to this car for a while and when its time for another, it will be another Civic. I am a Honda believer!

  • Great engineering and design - 2004 Honda Civic

Bought used with 50,000 miles. Driven a lot of cars in my life, enjoyed most. This one is well designed and well made. No, its not an expensive luxury nor full bore sports car - but very well appointed and suspension, steering, high revving engine definitely provide sports car feel when pushed hard! Mileage on highway at 80 mph is fabulous at 40-42 mpg, in town 33-36 depending on traffic stopngo (tip, be sure to use good fuel injector cleaner every 4000 miles)

  • Second civic and maybe my last. - 2010 Honda Civic

I previously owned a 2003 civic. 170,000 miles and no problems. So when it came time for a newer vehicle civic was at the top of my list. I cant believe how much this car rattles. Rear seat passenger side constantly rattles. Also driver side door has noise issues. After a little getting used to the dash board is ok. The AC is not even close to being as cold as my 03 civic. I am not bashing Honda but they need to take their time on the next redesign and get it right. Otherwise I will try something else.

  • My Civic EX - 2010 Honda Civic

I recently bought a Civic EX sedan. I drive a lot and just traded in my 08 Altima. I miss the acceleration and the CVT on my Altima but I love the increased mileage and the look of my new car. I got a great price and love it.

Owned for 2 months. My first Honda. TMV for most cars I researched usually fall between sticker and invoice. At the time I purchased this car, the TMV was $450.00 under invoice. Dealer did not hesitate selling for TMV. Dealer actually voluntarily knocked off another $60.00 to make it an even $18,800. Afterward, I thought I should have tried to haggle an even lower price since the dealer didnt even bat an eye at the TMV. I think the looks of coupe is much better than the sedan. In my opinion, the EX model is well worth the cost over the LX. I like the exterior styling, very modern, should still be relevant for several years to come. I have not noticed the road noise everyone complains about

FM Tuner has poor output due to bad antenna in window, Car has trouble starting under 32 degrees, easily scratchable interior.

  • My first new honda - 2008 Honda Civic

I have had my honda for 2 years. I enjoy my Honda, love the gas mileage. I have had problems with my car not starting on the first try more than once. Also have had problems with my clutch making popping sounds while driving. Had it fixed and not a week and a half later it started popping again. The paneling in the back window rattles when listening to music. Very cheap plastic. The factory tires that came on the car were bridge-stone, they were horrible. They became lumpy and made the car vibrate going down the road. Other than that i love my car its fun to drive.

  • Great Car - 2010 Honda Civic

I have about 3K miles on my car, and I love it. I recommend the upgrade to the EX-L, since most of my favorite features came with the upgrade. I saw no reason to spend $2k extra for navigation since you can get a good GPS for under $200 & you can always upgrade as the technology improves. I test drove the Kia Forte and Ford Focus. Both are also good cars, but the Civic felt more solid & I preferred its look. The expected resale value of the Civic sold me on the car and made it worthwhile to spend an extra $2K. The design is a little funky. It took me a few hundred miles to get used to the slanted windshield, almost non-existent hood, and interesting speedometer.

  • Great car! - 2010 Honda Civic

Just bought the new 2010 Honda Civic dx-vp. Pretty happy with my choice. I had a Ford Focus before for 8 years and drove it into the ground and it was time to get a new car. I was always interested in the civics because its an attractive car and has a great reputation. The look of the car is great both inside and out. I got a great deal also about $15,500 out the door. The only changes I would make to the Civic would that there be an arm rest, (which comes with the next model up) power door locks, and cup holders in the back seat. Other than that Im really happy and its been fun driving around town and on road trips.

  • Hybrid Good and Bad - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

The ONLY reason to even consider the Civic Hybrid is for the great gas mileage. You must drive it differently, pay attention and respond to what the instant mpg gauge and battery gauges tell you. Learning to anticipate lights, allow some slowing on hills, feathering the gas, avoiding the use of brakes and staying at the speed limit yield great results. No lead foot gas use, wont go fast anyhow. Winter driving conditions and sloppy driving habits destroy mpg. Large interior, but VERY noisy and not comfortable after a couple hours. Cheaped out on auto on head lights, dash layout, seat adjusters and tires. Did I say it was NOISY? First, and LAST, Honda.
