Overview & Reviews
Honda deletes the Civic EX Coupe five-speed with ABS model. DX models receive new wheel covers, all 1997 Honda Civic trims get 14-inch wheels, and the LX Sedan gets air conditioning.
- Fun, affordable, and good looking.
- Why are anti-lock brakes only offered on models with an automatic transmission?

Honda civic DX - 1997 Honda Civic
By Prettyboy - May 27 - 2:00 amI have been driving my civic for close to four years now and have had very little problems with it. It has been the best car I have ever owned. Even though it is the base model it still gets looks when i drive it around town. I plan to keep me civic for a few more years to come.

Bippy is the best!! - 1997 Honda Civic
By Bippy - May 21 - 2:00 amI got my Bippy four years ago and absolutely love it! I have driven it cross-country many times and have never had a problem going anywhere. The gas mileage is great, and it runs just as well today as it did when I bought it used four years ago.

Great around-town Car - 1997 Honda Civic
By jacobwallace - April 30 - 2:00 amIve had this car since it was brand new, and I still love it! Ive never had a major problem with it - totally reliable, although Honda had to replace the alternator, moonroof motor, and one headlight at various times early in life (ALL done under warranty, and on routine visits, not after any serious failures). Honda service is wonderful, if pricey - if having your car start every morning is worth your money, Honda is the way to go.

Very reliable car - 1997 Honda Civic
By opunty - April 29 - 2:00 amI have had no problems with this car and it is a 1997. I have only performed the roitine maintenance and I drive the car very hard at time. I cant even bring myself to sell it because it is rated one of the best used cars and I have had nothing wrong with it. 81,000 miles and still runs as well as it did with 10,000 miles.

EXCELLENT CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! - 1997 Honda Civic
By Matthew N. - March 27 - 2:00 amI bought this car with 67000 miles on it for 45000, and i really got my moneys worth. I loved it to death. I got in a major wreck at 72000 miles. I only drove 5000 and can testify that it was yet the greatest car i ever owned. It is even extremly safe in collisions. I walked away with a seat belt wound after an RV pulled out in front of me. Crumpled the exterior into tin foil yet left the interior untouched. Awesome, safe and dependable. If you see one, do not pass the opprotunity up! By it!

Great Car - 1997 Honda Civic
By A honda owner - October 5 - 3:31 amI bought this car almost 20 years ago and I can honestly say it was one of the best purchases I made. It has more than 150,000 miles on it and I changed the tires, battery, brakes, timing belt and front CV joints, but other than that had no major issues. Now my son, who learned to drive with this car, drives this car to and from college over an hours drive away, but so far it is still holding up well. Update Sept 2017: The outside is looking pretty worn but this car is still running good. Just took this car in for a smog test and and with almost 190,000 miles on it this car easily passed. In fact, it passed way below the minimum requirements needed to pass.

this has been a GREAT car - 1997 Honda Civic
By earmenta - September 22 - 10:00 amThis car has been perfect for me. It is now going on 6 years old, and so far I have had absolutely NO PROBLEMS with it, not even minor ones! And I just passed 80,000 miles! Often times I will drive this car 1,000 miles in one weekend, and its held up just fine and I never worry about it. If you want a dependable, low-maintenance car, get a Honda. They will last forever and are a great investment.
