In typical Honda fashion, the Civic receives a number of minor changes this year in order to keep it fresh. For the coupe and sedan, there's new exterior styling, including restyling for the front and rear bumpers, hood, headlights and grille. Inside, the audio speakers have been upgraded, extra sound deadening material has been added and floor mats are now standard in the LX and EX. The LX trim has slightly bigger wheels this year (15 inches) and standard keyless entry. A new value package contains air conditioning, a CD player and a new center console. For the Si hatchback, there are new headlight and taillight designs, larger 16-inch wheels and flashier interior trim. Like the regular sedan, the Civic Hybrid has updated styling, standard floor mats and improved speakers. It also has a new interior console with an armrest, adjustable rear headrests and a manual driver-seat height adjuster. Finally, all 2004 Honda Civic sedans and coupes have a new seatbelt reminder system.

Gas mileage way below expected - 2004 Honda Civic
By Margaret Sazani - July 3 - 10:00 amThis car is advertised at 47/48 mpg. I have had the car for 9 months now and have 8,000 miles on it, and still only get 39 mpg. I am very very disappointed in this performance. The dealer says its because there are lots of hills in this area and I drive it too fast. I think the advertised mpg should NOT be based on performance on flat terrain at slow speeds. So I am not at all happy with the cars performance in this area.

Handling is questionable - 2004 Honda Civic
By Raygunshabadoo - April 9 - 10:00 amLove the car for what it is, but if youre coming from an older generation of Civic be warned that the high-speed (55mph+) cornering is poor and sometimes scary. Tires grip well, but the chassis lists unpredictably on the soft rubber bushings and new front suspension. Gone is the predictable understeer, replaced with body sway and feelings of impending doom.

Poor Assembly - Lots of Rattling - 2004 Honda Civic
By TBone - February 26 - 10:00 amLots of rattling noise also found in my family 2003 Accord EX. Unusal vibration and noise (from disengaging the transmission locking mechanism) when changing from Park to Drive/Reverse suspecting weak emergency brake because the car rolls (only happens on a hill, dealers say its normal - 2003 Accord doesnt have this problem). Occasionally unusual engine vibration when starting the engine in the morning. Found puddle of water on all 4 doors side steps after car wash or rain (dealer says its normal). Need to stay between 60-70mph to get 26-28 mpg. Does anyone has the transmission and rattling problem? Please write on your review.

It lacks the HP that it should have to keep up hondas reputation, this car probally has the slowest acceleration i have ever seen, this little 1.7 tries but dont get very far, lol. good car tho i reccomend not gettin the VP but gettin the HX for the extra HP

By Dennis - September 10 - 1:33 pmHonda built a fun reliable little car. I threw some 18" wheels and sport tires on there and it handles 100% better than stock. Be careful with the side skirt mouldings, they are held on with double sided tape ... cheap!!
