Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Traded in a BMW 3 series + Love my Honda - 2009 Honda Civic

I traded in my BMW 3 series when it became too expensive to maintain. I leased a Honda Civic because its cheap, safe, and good on gas, not because its the kind of car you fall in love with, but I fell in love with it! Ive driven it from NJ to Montreal and Williamsburg for weekends, and its comfortable for long drives. It handles well, even in light snow. Very solid build quality: no squeaks, no rattles, no loose parts. Turn the key, and off you go. With easy driving you can get about 40 mpg on regular gas. This is my first Honda but definitely not my last. I would recommend Honda to anyone. Unbelievably comfortable, nice car for the money.

I bought the car used but was it was love at first sight. Unfortunately, everyday something new came up that made me love it less. My gas doesnt last me a week. I understand I drive quite a few miles from home to work and school but its ridiculous how in 4 days my gas would disappear completely. Driving it is great, until you notice the gas. It took me a good 3 weeks to finally get comfortable in my seat, even now it still doesnt feel right. Looks great thought!

  • The Best Reliable Car - 2010 Honda Civic

Ive been driving a Honda since 2001, they are very reliable and great. The gas mileage is perfect for me and the driving is awesome, best driving car around, as my opinion would not buy any other vehicle.

  • Reliability is the key - 2010 Honda Civic

I love the Civic LX. I gave it an 8 on economy but its probably closer to a 7. Im getting 29-30 with 50/50 driving thats a bit lower than I anticipated based on what several salespeople and the sticker claimed. They claimed it was better on fuel economy than the Fit which didnt seem likely but it tipped the scales toward the Civic. I would have probably bought the Civic anyway for better comfort but Fit owners have told me that they were getting in the 35 mpg range. Im not sure that wasnt some sort of marketing ploy to bump up the sale. If youre choosing between those two look extra closely.

Very fun car to drive. Excellent gas mileage (mid-30s on the highway). Given its competitors, it could use a bit more power however, the engine pulls strong through the entire power band (redline of 8k). It also has one of the nicest shifting transmissions Ive ever driven. Granted, the styling, both interior and exterior, is very polarizing you either love it or hate it. The dashboard does give the impression you are driving a space shuttle, and visibility suffers.

  • Again an update -3 - 2009 Honda Civic

After driving since February having 16,000 miles on it, it still drives as I bought it. And my average is still 41 mpg, this is the max when driving carefully but still maxium speeds on back roads and highway. Saw the reviews of mazda2 drivers and Ford fiesta, they dont get that high mileage I would think of purchase such a car. As I told before, drive it till it falls apart, hope so at 300,000 miles. No hybrid can drive cheaper as this car!

Overall, a good commuter car with good mileage. Averaging 30 mph for mixed driving and have gotten 42 on a road trip with no AC going. Has some mechanical\design issues.

This is definitely one of the best sedans on the market. It only costs 17k nicely equipped and you get one of the best made cars in the world. If you want a safe/reliable/affordable car you cant go wrong with buying a Civic.

This is my second Civic, I had a 2006 EX automatic and always wanted a manual. I would like to see the steering wheel move more up and down and while I did have 6 broken sun visors I fixed the last set with two well placed Stainless screws and nuts. I love the 33 plus mpg sometimes even 42 if I baby it. The only other thing that is hard to deal with is if you drive west into the sun it is a lot of windshield to blaze the sun in on you.

We recently had the new software update that we got as a result of a recall. Now we have lost power and fuel economy. We recently read a number of articles that claim that Honda knows they have a problem with their batteries so made this update so that the car relies on the gas portion and not the Hybrid part. Sometimes we cant get up our own driveway. We called Honda and they said too bad even though our car was under warranty. We are very disappointed in Honda because they are only thinking about their bottom line (they dont want to buy new batteries) and not customer satisfaction or safety.
