Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

This is the CAR. More fun than my spouses BMW 330i. Ok, no leather seats, but a simply beautiful and high performance sedan!

Ive always driven Honda Accords (used) and decided to finally purchase a new vehicle and without a doubt it would be a Honda and after driving the Civic there was no question. I bought the Civic EX model and this is the best car Ive ever owned and the manual transmission is the smoothest of any Ive ever driven. This car has a lot of power for a 4 cyl and the 2 tier dash is awesome and its hard to ever speed w/ the digital odomoter right in front of your eyes. If anyone is looking for a reliable car that is so much fun to drive, this is the car for you. I cant say enough about how great and comfortable this car is.

  • First Honda we have been disappointed in... - 2016 Honda Civic

We purchased this car thinking we would drive it for a year, then pass it on to our child that is turning 16. We took it on our first weekend getaway and couldnt get out of it fast enough. The seats are very uncomfortable for long drives. The road noise is pretty significant. The climate 90% of the climate controls are behind a touch screen and when that touch screen locks up, which it does constantly, you cant access your climate controls. The only option is to push the auto button and let the car decide based on the temperature you select. But, you have no controls on whether it is blowing at your feet, in your face, how hard/soft it is blowing and whether the A/C is off or on. We actually had to pull off to the side of the freeway and restart the car to get the touch screen computer screen to reboot. The other thing we notice constantly is that people are always trying to cut in our lane because they have trouble seeing the car because it sits sow low. The bluetooth isnt as great as my last car and it is hard for people to understand you when they are on the listening end. The biggest surprise when we got home... and something every car we have owned for the last 10 years has had... there is no remote control garage door opening. Something so simple and so inconvenient... seriously Honda? We drive a lot and the only thing that we love about this car is the gas mileage and the pickup it has because of the turbo, and that is honestly the only two things that have kept it in our driveway. Otherwise, we would have traded or sold it. I cant speak to reliability or longevity yet. But, I can tell you I am 100% discouraged by the crappy touch screen that constantly locks up. It has been doing this from the day we purchased it and we have only owned it for a little more than a month. My guess is that it will probably get traded in next year if we dont start feeling differently.

  • Awesome car - 1997 Honda Civic

This was my first car. I bought it when I was 16 and kept for 9 years and simply needed a change. This is a car for anyone, be it your first car, a project car, or a commuter car. By no means was the car fast, but it took corners like it was on rails and it was very lively; especially compared to V6/V8 Toyota/Lexus that my parents own. My only grip was the placement of the cup holders. To access them, you would have to open a flap which in turn covered the slot to the CD/tape player. Great car to blast around a track and the best part was I still got solid gas mileage regardless of how aggressively I drove. Very easy/cheap to repair, own, and soup up. Very sad that Honda doesnt make their cars like this anymore.

Love this car! Traded in my 2006 Honda Pilot EXL. Dont miss it a bit. I love the savings in gas too. My first tank of gas, I averaged 31 mpg. The pilot got 16 mpg. For a small car, it is not cramped and the trunk is very large. The car has great pick-up and I love being able to listen to my ipod. So far, Im very happy with my new purchase.

My 2008 Civic lx with 3500 miles is getting 25 mpg. My 2004 Odyssey gets 20 and 22 mpg. I do not like the 5 spd auto. It gets on my nerves shifting up and down. It replaced a 1994 escort that never got less than 29 mpg the entire time we had it. And the shifter doesnt stop till d3. I do love everything else about this car but I will never buy another Honda. We will trade this car as soon as we can afford to unless the mpg goes up to 30. Oh yeah, the paint will fade from the acid rain and for an extra $500 they will cover it for 5 years. I have been very happy with my salesman and service rep since 2004. But if I want new untested improvements that may or may not work I will get a Honda!

  • Best working car - 2008 Honda Civic

This car is one of a kind I got mine when I turned 16 and Im still loving it. I have not once had a problem with it whatsoever. Its real quiet too when youre driving unlike other loud cars. The gas by the way is amazing - I cut a lot of money off spending for gas because this car does a good job on it. Also if you like to work on cars for shows this civic is the ultimate car to do it to. I installed subs, neons, lambo doors, suicide seats, interior neon, and put things on the motor for speed. It is a great car to work on.

Ive had this car for almost 3 months and its been great! The car is fun to drive and averaged 41 MPG on long distance highway drives. Combined city/highway has been about 33MPG. Im really impressed with the performance and the looks of the car. Im happy with my switch from a corolla to a civic and I expect the same long life and dependability that my Toyota had.

  • Love that gas mileage - 2004 Honda Civic

I work out of my car putting about 60 miles per day all in-town driving. The 42 miles per gallon is wonderful. The car rides well, over all the Fort Worth potholes, enough power to get on the freeway when I need it, and plenty of room.
