Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

With the fuel prices going up and my daily ride to and from work adding up to 130 miles per day I decided it was time for a change from my 4x4 SUVs and trucks. My wife and I traded our 99 Grand Vitara in on this blue LX Sedan and although we mis the SUV this car is really great! I have driven it on a 12 hour road trip with my 2 children in the back seat and we were all very comfortable. I average 33-35 MPG with the car, but in its defense I drive PA turnpike and set the speed at 73. The interior is cleanly appointed and roomy, the trunk is wonderfull! I fit my 34" Samsonite softbag and 30" hardbag in the trunk! Exterior stlying is sporty and fun

  • Best Car Yet - 2008 Honda Civic

Having just traded my 2001 Civic EX for the new 2008 LX I can truthfully say that this car is a comfortable pleasure to drive. Road noise has been reduced as well. The first thing I noticed was the performance over the 2001. It was much livelier and with the 5 speed automatic, the engine runs considerably slower at high speeds and has plenty of passing capability. Fuel economy is great, first tank fill got me 38 mpg 20% city and 80% highway) I commute 50K a year in California so the gas mileage and comfort are a big plus for me. I would highly recommend the Civic for those folks looking for both economy and comfort.

  • The Civic from a Technical Point of View - 2002 Honda Civic

The 1.7L EX has plenty of low end power for its engine size. I find its suspension too soft. This is a problem in high speed slaloms when the car doesnt seem to want to follow the line you are asking it to. In turns the car will typically understeer but by letting go of the gas pedal you can easily convert it to a pleasant oversteer. The factory tires are among the worst (mine came with Firestone). The Honda spoiler is quite anoying. It makes the car rear end look bigger than it already is and blocks a rather large section of your rear view. The car is very very reliable and the engine is a jewel. You can drive it right up to the redline non stop and it will always work perfectly.

Wow! I absolutely LOVE it! Fun. Sporty. Affordable. Safe. Efficient. Just a great car. So glad I bought it!

  • Most bang for your buck! - 2008 Honda Civic

I evaluated the Toyota and Scion models prior to purchasing the Honda Civic. In the end, it was the build quality and my previous knowledge of Honda reliablity (and a great deal of homework and test driving) that resulted in this Honda sale. I enjoy the peppy drive of the manual transmission and the gas mileage is great (so far, 31mpg in mixed driving). If you read this, stop, and go buy one, you will not regret it! It is truly the biggest small car you will ever find.

  • Hondas are overrated!! - 2005 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought a 2005 civic ex coupe brand new from my local dealer, and at first it was really not that bad, however after about my third fill up i realized that i was only getting an average of 22 miles to the gallon in town, i was told i would avarage 30 in town, then on cold days the car didnt want to start, took it to the dealer and of course they said they could not get it to act up, then i had issues with the passenger door panel failling off, finally i decided to trade it in for something better, which ended up being a 2000 bmw 328i the best car i have ever owned, i will never own another honda or will i recomed them to anyone.

  • Great Car For Anyone - 1998 Honda Civic

This is a perfect car for anyone. I love everything about it I have had this car since 1999 and it is now 2003 and have never had any problems with it. The gas mileage is great and the car is very sturdy in its build. The car is very roomy for a smaller style car. I would highly reccomend this car to anybody who is looking for a lower priced car.

  • Your foot controls the mileage! - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

My Civic Hybrid 2007 has a little more power than my 2005 had, but the mileageis averaging 47mpg vs the 2005 average of 51. The new digital readout dash is fun to use and helps the driver to drive more sensibly. I drove Alligator Alley to Miami on a Sunday morning and averaged 57 MPG obeying the speed laws.
