Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Problems from the begining - 2003 Honda Civic

I love my civic, really I do. But once I signed the papers and brought it home I noticed that it was REALLY hard to turn the stearing wheel. I thought, by never buying a new car before, that this was somewhat normal. Of course my brother was quick to tell me that it wasnt. I had to bring the car back to the place where I had bought it, and explain to them what was wrong. The salesmen who sold me the car got in and tried to turn the wheel himself, and was really shocked to find it almost next to impossible.

Ive always had Honda type cars and they all have a certain Honda feel to them. Solid if not spectacular and pretty rock solid if one doesnt "dog" the vehicle. Beautiful styling, fuel economy and hopefully, long term reliability. The car sits a bit higher than I was used to on the Integra but am slowly acclimating, doesnt accelerate as quick or handle as well as the Integra but hey, thats the trade off for a more fuel efficient, comfortable car. As a constant commuter who gets bogged in traffic as I do, this is a great car. For the open road, race car enthusiast, there are better choices.

  • Best Civic Yet Made - 2003 Honda Civic

I own a 99 Civic DX Hatchback 5M with 160K on the odometer. The 2003 Civic Sedan has improved the pedigree in all areas. I can see both vehicles hitting 300K easily. Can you make that comment about BMWs? Honda has greatly improved the sound- proofing of the Civic as well as the transmissions quality. If I had a choice between Honda and other vehicles, I choose Honda hands down!

  • My Civic - 2005 Honda Civic

Its been a month since my purchase and I cant be happier. I went into the dealership looking to get the EX but for an additional $250, I could get the SE; less than the cost of the 6 disc CD changer upgrade and the in dash system plays MP3s! The leather steering wheel is also a nice extra. Its the perfect commuter car with some extra oomph. Theres good compromise between comfort, low emissions and performance.

  • Great Car for The Price - 1997 Honda Civic

This car gets fantastic mileage averaging 32 miles per gallon in city driving. The hatchback offers a lot of space considering its compact size (always easy to find parking)! Great performance without a high price tag.

  • Experienced hybrid driver puzzled - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

Have had Civic Hybrid for 5 weeks. Avg mpg is 22!!! ? hwy up to 44 mpg but genly 39. City and overall avg ends up at 20-22. I drove a Honda Insight hybrid on same roads for the last five and a half years. Hwy was 69-70 mpg with max of 83. City was more like 39 mpg. The point is, I am a hybrid driver. Insight was stick. Civic automatic. Cant imagine Im doing something so wrong to get less mpg than most small cars, much less what hybrid should get. Any thoughts from anyone? Brought it into dealer twice. They said they got 35 city/44 hwy in 10 mile test drive. I have driven 1000 miles now, with a continuous avg of 20-22 city. With heat on or off. looking for answers

  • Three Civics In The House - 2006 Honda Civic

This is our third Civic. Wow, what a change. Im torn because I really like that the LX model has many of the EX features and the car rides very nicely. But there are a few things I really dislike about the new design. The most important is the window columns create too large of a blind spot. I find this quite dangerous. Another problem I have is, I like to crack my windows a tiny bit to prevent fog on the windshield when its raining but, I cant because rain comes pouring in. Also, when attempting to accelerate quickly the engine hesitates. It could be Im not used to an automatic?? I am getting 36 MPG thats a mixture of city and highway driving

  • A Good Fuel Efficient Vehicle - 2005 Honda Civic

I like this car for the gas mileage and the cost of ownership. The car is rated 36/44 city/hwy; I am getting 40- 42 mpg in suburban driving. The 5spd stick shift is very smooth and is fine as long as youre not dealing with bumper to bumper type driving. Get the CVT model if you deal with gridlock! This is a great little run- about suburban type car. Plenty of power on the low end if you need it; it has a VTEC engine. I like the fact this car is giving me 40-42 mpg with proven "old" technology. The car is noisy. It could use some better sound proofing. The front seats could be a bit wider as well and also raise up a bit. The gear shift knob is a bit too small for me.

  • Great Value - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

I have had my Black/Tan EX Coupe for about a month now and I LOVE it! The car was my second and a wonderful gift from my parents. We looked at others including the Scion TC but when it came to reliabilty, gas, price, and selling price we opted for the honda. In response to a previous post the 2007 black civics are now available with a choice of black or gray interior. The taffeta white is the only exterior color available with tan interior for the 2007 models. So, for those of us (like me) with black exterior and tan interior the value should only increase. Overall, this car is wonderful and I am planning on it lasting me for college and beyond. p.s. my gas mileage is 24 without flooring it
