Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.
The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Love it!!!!! - 2017 Honda Civic
By Bob Jacobs - May 31 - 2:55 pmI have leased Hondas since 2004 using 3 different dealerships. I was torn between the CRV, Accord Sport, and the Civic EXT. Boy, did I make the right choice. For starters I am 64, and for anyone questioning the roominess, dont. There is plenty. This model is a head turner. I have had more people ask me about this car more than any other Ive purchased. I look forward to the next 3 years side. And a side note, dealing with Keeler Honda and Adam Dorn was the best car buying experience I have ever had.

Great car - 2003 Honda Civic
By Tucson - May 29 - 10:00 amGreat car, is beautifully practical. I have been getting 52-55 mpg! The auto-stop function is a marvelous feature allowing the motor to quietly shut off when put in neutral, but sometimes it confuses itself when I pull into the intersection during a left hand turn...it sometimes shuts off when i engage the clutch with it in 1st gear, requiring me to shift to neutral and back to first. Still a great car.

Never by an Civic - 2001 Honda Civic
By Gail_VI - May 29 - 10:00 amStraight off the lot this car gave me problems, stalling in the street, radio scanning on its own. Finally that got fixed after less than 2 years somthing on the car is clunking. I never had any of these experiences with my Nissan Sentra. Hondas in my opinion are OVER- RATED. Im not the only one in the VI having HONDA problems. Is it the car or the dealer?

Love my Civic - 2008 Honda Civic
By Hondamom - May 27 - 4:46 pmWe bought our Honda EX new during hottest part of summer, and took it on vacation. Very roomy, 40mpg on highway, about 23 in town (very hilly where we live). Air conditioner, heater are fantastic. Is garaged, but even sitting outside in subzero temp days after getting off work, starts great! The car got around on snow and ice fine! Only thing Id rather have is a higher bumper in front, Ive scraped the bottom a few times pulling too close to a curb while diagonal parking, and on ice berms when slushy roads refroze. And backing out of diagonal parking spot when next to a long pickup truck can be tricky. But other than that, LOVE IT!!! Vacationed with 2 teenage boys in backseat, enough leg room.

Si Fun in the So Cal Sun - 2006 Honda Civic
By mykeey - May 26 - 6:43 pmBeing an owner of a BMW, the feel and performance is similar for a car that is not in the same league. In two weeks, I have driven 2000 miles just because. Once you sit in & start the engine, the feeling is just unexplainable. The deep sound of the engine, the snugness of the seats, and the interior with a look like a cockpit just adds to the experience. I test drove TC, GTI, & Jetta but did not like. Originally I was looking at getting the EX and saw an SI in the lot, the salesman warned me that once I drive the SI, forget about the EX. The way the car takes on curves, accelerates and shifts are really outstanding. Glad to see that Honda did bring more back to the Civic line.

not all its cracked up to be - 2006 Honda Civic
By mike - May 26 - 5:16 pmI bought the car thinking, well i have a Honda so nothing will go wrong.In the first 5,000 miles my drivers side window has fallen off the track, my car idles weird, and the back tires howl so loud i can hear it over my radio when its turned way up. so i took it to dealer first of all they will not give you a car to drive if your brand new car is broken that you just paid 20,000 dollars for . Yes thats right its hondas policy. second the dealer said my car was out of align since i bought it new, so the tires wore weird, but they told me thats not why the tires wore weird???? the dealer said honda will not do anything so now i have to deal with the tire manufacturer. bad customer service!!!

good car, reliability issues - 2006 Honda Civic
By xr72p - May 24 - 12:36 amThis is a safe, very fuel efficient car (35+ hwy MPG) that handles well and is comfortable to drive. However, This car has been back to Honda dealerships to replace the AC compressor, to check for coolant leaks, and three times to fix a leaking power steering pump.
