Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Im disapointed. I like the roomy interior and the dash display, but I find myself bouncing and clunking around too much on standard roads, listening to the rev of the engine too much and wishing for some of the Corolla and Sentra perks(CD player, more horsepower, a place for my change) I thought would seem less important once I started driving the more expensive Civic. Reliability seems lacking too because less than one week after purchase I have to take my car into the dealer because Im having map light problems. I hope this car retains its value because Ill be trading it in sooner than the 10-12 years I thought I would hold onto it for.

  • Wanted a Civic EX came out with Si ! - 2002 Honda Civic

I went in to purchase a Honda EX, but with low financing rate and 2000$ off I purchased the Civic Si! Its good on gas, environmentally friendly, fast, reliable and had a decent stereo system.

I bought this car for my wife because she wanted it and it was the smallest car I could fit into without being extremely uncomfortable. We drive the car 70-80 miles per day on average (almost all highway)and average over 40+ mpg driving between 65-70 mph. Currently, I have 572.3 miles on this tank of gas and I need to buy some gas today. The ride is bumpy, but it has been with my last two Hondas Ive owned. The Interior of this Civic is about the same size as my 1991 Accord was before this replaced that vehicle after 207K miles. If the car were a bit bigger, Id buy another one to replace my car.

  • Good so far - 2006 Honda Civic

Got 41 mpg on first tank of gas. I suspect that will go up slightly as car gets broken in. I dont know why some people complain about not getting 50 mpg. Those estimates are under ideal situations. You never can replicate those conditions exactly. Interior quality is very good, car is quiet , low road noise. Generous legroom and headroom (Im 62"). Acceleration from standstill isnt great, but once it gets going it does well. Going up on hills is fine, because the battery assists the motor. Overall Im happy

  • It saved my life - 2005 Honda Civic

I had this car only two months and was extremely happy with it. A freak accident threw me into a concrete retaining wall at 60 mph, with impact on the front right half of the car. The entire front of the car was smashed flat and the engine block split. I walked away in tact with only two scratches, a chest bruise from the seatbelt, and a burn on my hand from the airbag. I loved the car before...it handles like a dream and is very comfortable to drive. But Im going straight out to buy another, because I know first hand how well made they are! I wouldnt be here otherwise.

  • Great car to drive - 2006 Honda Civic

This car is great. I bought it for the fuel mileage. My daily commute is 110 miles. Out of which 85 miles are on the highway. I average about 33-35 mpg. The ride is queie and smooth. There is plenty of head room... I am 6 ft tall. I love the new design Honda rolled out. Safety wise its good too with front and side airbags and its got ABS. This is all standard. Honda did think of all the important aspects... fuel economy, safety, styling. It has 6 speakers with CD/MP3/WMA. It has enough power to drive... plus this is not a sports car... it does not have any fancy gadgets though... but this is not a BMW or MERC.

  • Fantastic Value - 2006 Honda Civic

I purchased this car a few days ago and couldnt be happier. It is not a pig on gas. It is a really fun car to drive. I am 61" and thought it would be a tight squeeze but it is really comfortable. I would hightly recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a fun economical vehicle!

  • Another Point of View - 2005 Honda Civic

WE bought a 2004 new in April. It had 3 miles on the odometer when we took it for a test drive. Unfortunately we did not take it on the interstate. 18 wheelers blow it around. Side winds blow it around. In the snow the rear end tends to come around too easily. If you live in the Great White North youll notice all four doors let in a draft from the bottom as well as from the interior handles. Wind noise seems excessive. Ditto engine noise which actually buzzes the occupants. Handling was not impressive and the ride was too choppy. You will feel EVERY road irregularity. Traded a 95 Dodge Neon 5M Highline that I bought new to buy this car. That Neon did a better job of ALL the above!
