Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Hybrid the Best Buy - 2005 Honda Civic

An excellent drive. Slightly overated mileage estimates but not enough to be concerned about. Some inattention to excessive glue traces on front and rear glass which is not expected from Honda. Definitely a worthwhile buy with gas prices as they are and the need to go to "Green" vehicles to reduce pollution. I traded an SUV so its size took a little getting used to but worth it. A good solid ride.

I totally love the stick on the dash as well as the excellent cornering with curved seats to support your body when you accelerate into a turn. The manual T allowes for powerful control of the 4-cyl. making the most of the 160 horse power. An excellent choice for women!!!

The best vehicle ever, i love this car. So smooth, yet so much style, it grips the road, has enough power and acceleration to pass thos "fast" cars on the freeway or just around. You should really enjoy this car as much as i have. Its my baby!!

My wife and I are sensitive to the environment and while the price of gas does not bother us too much (!), we are concerned about future shortages Cant make a case for hybrids. I miss my old English sports cars, so I look for nimble handling. The Civic is terrific- excellent gas mileage, unexpected good performance in the speed ranges we use most often, a full compliment of safety features standard, and a roomy comfortable interior. For those who need the best cornering ability in a small car- look at the Maxda 3. For balanced performance and value- this Civic is superb.

Dont believe those reviews of the car being anything less than great. Honda consistently builds solidly built products. This car really is a joy. I am a college student, so the extra space afforded by the 4 door is helpful, although if anyone is not restricted by space I would recommend the coupe. It is far more attractive and I will most likely go for that when the lease is up. The car is quite low on torque to be honest, but one the cams switch over the car really becomes a beast and the sound is beautiful. If you do not like revving up your engine past 6k then you will never enjoy this car, and you might as well look elsewhere. Great ride, smooth, reliable, decently quick.

I am a Honda person. My previous car was a 1993 Honda Accord, so it has been 15 years since I bought a new car. This is my fourth Honda. This 2008 Civic is about the same size as my Accord, only slightly shorter. I considered another Accord, but the 2008 was larger than I wanted. This car is perfect for me. I love everything about it. It is fun to drive. 2008 is the first year Honda has offered leather interior in the Civic, which I am happy about. I must admit that I found the 4-dr. too boring for me, but the 2-dr. coupe is sporty looking. I am extremely happy with this car.

  • Dont believe the hype - 2005 Honda Civic

I hate this car. I cannot tell you how much I extremely dislike this car. Metal is way too thin - I have 3 major dents from damage in parking lots. When you let the windows down to clear off dew in the morning, the rubber gasket doesnt make contact with the window so it does not clear off the dew. Makes me wonder if rain is running straight down into the door. I have a vibration that started at about 5000 miles and I have had to have it fixed 3 times. They tell me that the AC cable that is running in the dash just behind the speedometer keeps coming loose and vibrating against the firewall. R rear window has a whistle (air leak) very annoying. of course thats a gasket problem - not covered.

I had been driving a 1998 V-6 Accord. It took me a couple of weeks to learn how to drive the Civic hybrid. My mileage has been around 42-44 mpg and from the other reviews I’ve read, I’m sure my mileage will improve as my driving habits improve. I couldn’t be more pleased with its performance. It has plenty of acceleration and handles very well. It has a bigger interior feel that what you might expect for its size. By the way, I paid $23,100 with navigation
