Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Didnt think Id be sold on a hybrid... - 2005 Honda Civic

At first I was pretty skeptical, with a lot of claims (gas mileage, no difference between "regular" cars and hybrids) being touted in advertisements, articles, etc. I test drove the CVT and manual versions of the Civic, as well as the Prius before deciding on the manual Civic Hybrid. I thought the Prius looked and drove a little too far away from what I was used to in a "normal" car. (all electric start start from a stop, etc.) The Civic has been great, performance isnt that bad for not having a lot of horses under the hood. I chose the manual over the CVT because again, it just felt better overall. Fuel economy is pretty much as stated, I get 47 MPG with mixed driving.

This is one of the best investments I made for the price and features I am getting. With the gas the way it is now, I am looking forward to saving money. The quality of the is awesome. I was looking at the Mazda 3 and Scion T3. I think the price and value of the civic won me over. The exterior styling is a real head tuner. I get a lot of people looking at my car when I drive it around town. I was able to secure a Taffeta White Ex model. White makes it look real clean. It looks so sweet.

This is the best redesign of the civic yet. This is a fun car to drive and really cheap to own and operate. My wife traded in a 2002 jeep grand cherokee which liked to drink gas alot, she smiles every time she fills up at the pumps. My wife jusy loves everything about this car, most of all the xm radio and the navagation.

  • Best car I have ever had. - 1995 Honda Civic

This is my first Honda, and everything that anyone ever says about a Honda is true. My Civic has 85,xxx miles on it and is running like it is brand new. There are also limit-less parts or performance additions. The best thing I think about my Civic is its reliability. As another user said,"If you see a Civic with 100,000 miles on it, it is just a baby." That is so true!

  • Wow! Terrific little sedan. - 2006 Honda Civic

The Civic hybrid is suprisingly powerful when acceleration onto the highway. I expected to have to make a trade-off here from the gasoline powered model, but no so. The new Civic sedan is much bigger inside than my 1998 Civic. Dash design is really easy to see with all indicators and gages just above the steering wheel. While I havent averaged the 51 mpg advertised, I am getting right at 47 mpg. I absolutely love my new car.

  • great mileage car - 2006 Honda Civic

This auto gets great mileage but nowhere where what the window sticker states. Even consumer reports couldnt come close in their testing. With that said, I am averaging 45 mpg (combined city/hwy/rural). The money saved goes towards the purchase of the car. I have owned Honda before and had no trouble whatsoever. I anticipate the same with this one. This Civic looks sporty and drives as such. Honda did good with the restyling both inside and out. I highly recommend this vehicle. Its nice not having to worry about getting gas until I have driven at least 550 miles.

  • So far so good - 2004 Honda Civic

Sold my 97 f-150 for the civic hybrid. Big change. In the long run its worth it. I got a white civic hybrid with 6 disc cd changer and 100,000 ext. warranty. Drove off the lot 46 miles on it. paid 18,000. Drove 546 miles on 1st tank and decided to fill it (never saw low fuel light). My f-150 got 320 miles avg. on a 25 gal. tank. If I keep getting 500 + on a 13 gal. tank I will stay happy.

Overall, Im very pleased with my Civic Hybrid CVT. I have owned nothing but Hondas because of their quality and the Hybrid Civic is no exception. For the most part, performance is excellent, however, it is a little sluggish in situations where you may need a quick response (ie. merging onto a busy highway with a short merge lane). You need to be aware of this and compensate for it. This car is definitely not designed for situations that require quick acceleration. This being said, Im still very pleased with my Hybrid and would recommend it to others. You cant beat a Honda for quality.

  • Amazing Car with a Crummy CD/Radio - 2007 Honda Civic

I traded in my 1999 Mazda Protégé’ for this 2007 Honda Civic LX and it’s a vast improvement over my old Protégé which was a car that I really liked. The Civic has a much more sophisticated feel, handles extremely well, and has a sporty space ship-like interior. The gas mileage seems to be about the same as the Protégé, but it’s a slightly roomier car, so that not an issue. I’m glad they put the speedometer out so far on the dash, because I find myself going faster than I think I’m going and it’s easy to see my speed and slow down before I get pulled over. I do find that the long dash causes a reflection on the long windshield, it helps to use polarized sun glasses during the day.
