Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Buy smart, get a Honda, Toyota or Nissan - 1998 Honda Civic

My parents have always owned American cars, so I thought they were the best. Afer researching, however, I decided to get my Civic. Over 100,000 miles and no problems yet. Fun to drive, the best reliability. Overall quality much better than any Ford or Chevy.

This vehicle has performed flawlesy on a cross country trip from Illinois to California loaded down with three people and tons of luggage.

  • Hondas gone downhill & cheap! - 2001 Honda Civic
    By -

After having several previous Hondas, I am very disappointed in my 2001 Civic. It rattles from everywhere (partly because everything is hard plastic now, not cushioned vinyl), the suspension squeeks and pops, the fuel gauge is never accurate, the windows always fog, the doors leak water into the interior, the carpet is thin and already matted flat, and the paint is pealing off the rear bumper. As far as being cheap (keep in mind this is the top of the line Civic) - - all plastic door and rear panels, no lighted glove box, vanity mirrors or courtesy lights in the doors. Are we sure this isnt a Hyundai??

  • RELIABLE VEHICLE - 1998 Honda Civic

SO FAR MY HONDA CIVIC HX COUPE HAS BEEN THE MOST RELIABLE AND FUEL EFFICIENT VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED. IT FEELS GOOD TO KNOW THE VEHICLE WILL START AND RUN EVERY TIME I NEED IT TO. I CURRENTLY LIVE IN TEXAS CITY TEXAS AND HAVE TAKEN MY HONDA TO SEE THE GRAND CANYON, COLORADO SPRINGS, CARLSBAD CAVERNS AND ALL OVER TEXAS. I HAVE NOT HAD A SINGLE PROBLEM WITH THE MOTOR OR TRANSMISSION. THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE HAD IS WITH THE CLEAR COAT FLAKING IN A SMALL AREA ABOVE THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOWN. I HAVE RECOMMENDED HONDA VEHICLES TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES.

  • AWESOME - 1995 Honda Civic

My experiences with my 1995 Honda Civic EX Coupe have been wonderful. My car has never let me down. My car now makes over 200 Wheel Horse Power and it still runs great. And no I am not a kid who puts a big grapefruit launcher on my exhaust, and I dont have a giant spoiler either. I am an adult who likes to drag race.

  • Si is an excellent car - 2000 Honda Civic

This is truly a great sleeper car. It has all the power you need when you need it, but at the same time, it gets great gas mileage. I avg 31 mpg, that is right, average!! I have a mix of driving that is about 60% street and 40% freeway. I have the black one so it looks like just about every other Civic coupe. That is fine with me since I love the way the car looks, especially when it is clean. Once I changed the tires (they were crappy and expensive) the car even handled the snow pretty well. I truly believe now that the 0-60 time is 7.2 sec. The engine didnt break in until about 15,000 miles so I was skeptical at first. But once it did, look out.

  • Whats not to love? - 2002 Honda Civic
    By -

I love my Civic. It gets great mileage, looks nice and clean, and runs great. Steering is crisp, acceleration is adequate, but could use a little more power, and the inside is just wonderful. Considering the cars price, I feel I got a lot for the money, and that it will last a long time. Very pleased.

  • Update at 1,000 miles - 2005 Honda Civic
    By -

Went to ocean city, md., 320 Miles round trip & the civic did great. Now for some negatives, they are small # 1 on a groved highway road noise is high (turn up stero or avoid groved surfaces) #2 the sun comes in front and raidates heat on your lap & the black dash gets warm( drive with a.C. On or open windows)# 3 stero display washes out in the sun light( shade the display with your hand to read) got 36.5 Mpg on the trip to o. C. All things consiered this car gets me the mpg i bought it for plus its fun to drive . Had the civic up to 80 on a bypass around salisbury where the speed limil is 65 only had it there briefly passing a truck. The cruise control on the steering wheel is nice

  • Misleading fuel economy - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

We purchased this car (our first Honda) this year because of rising gas prices and Hondas claim of 50mpg. It now turns out that the realistic mpg is closer to 35 (city & highway). The service department at the dealership says this is about what we should expect.
